Presidents Letter by Jim Hill
The CCBCC 25th Annual British Car Show was held July 19, 2015 at Channel Island Harbor Park, Oxnard,
California. Despite the somewhat unpredictable weather and thunderstorms the Saturday before, we had
a good show with 131 cars in the event. The day was a very nice one and the forecasted rain showers
held off until the early evening hours after the show was over. A perfect day for another great car show!
I would like to express a huge thank you to Martin Keller who did a tremendous job Chairing and
organizing the event, Sue Wellwood and Junie Cooper for their huge efforts, and to all the others that gave
of their time to make this show such a success. I was amazed at the support we received from the
volunteers who showed up Saturday for the walk through. And those that got up early on Show Sunday to
help set up the day of show. Here is a list of our volunteers, many of whom showed up as early as 6 am!

We still need volunteers to man the registration table and the raffle table and the sale of the raffle tickets.

The car show was a great success this year even with the weather we experienced the night before and
the evening of the show.
We had 104 pre-registered participants of which 9 did not show up for the event most likely due to weather
in the areas they live. The final count for the day was 131 cars on display for the show.
Sue Wellwood reported that the car show has made a profit for the club of about $1200 which is much

Several updates have been made to the CCBCC website. The sponsors page now has active links on it.
You can click the link in the lower left corner of an opened ad and it will take you to that particular website.
The Car Art link that Joel provided is also working. It is the correct link but has been made to look like a normal link.
Along with these updates, several behind the scenes things have been updated. The site somehow got
some malware code embedded in it. That has been removed. The site is also now running on the latest version of WordPress which comes with all of the latest security updates. A full, clean back-up of the site has
also been made. With all of the photos, etc. the site takes up almost 1GB of space!
There will be a members only button at the bottom of the FAQ page, where the new rooster of club
members will be located in the future. This will be password protected and all members will receive
the password via the new yahoo groups.

Communicating with other club members
Joel has created a special group for us on google. He has added everyone with an email address to the
Google Groups. Those of you who weren’t on Joel’s test group should have received email notification.
There are a total of 78 email addresses, 9 of which as 2nd email addresses. Since this group does most of
the club communicating, you should immediately start using [email protected] instead of any
personal email lists you may have. This is the only way you can be sure you are reaching all active club
members. Remember when you click the link the email will go to everyone in the group. For personal
communications you should consult the club listing.

Sports Car Art
By Joel Justin
I read an article in Moss Motoring (Issue 1, 2015) about David Townsend’s business – Sports Car Art. I
was intrigued by what I read and the image I saw, so I visited the website. His story was interesting
(after a long career in marketing, a chance meeting got him to take his talents and start his own
business which has grown right from the beginning), and as I perused his website, I found the artwork
to be absolutely beautiful and very reasonable priced. I loved the subtle cutaway view that not only
gave you a look at the exterior of the car, but also showed off the interior as well as the drive train. The
best part was that he would customize his artwork to exactly match your car.
After playing with the various options, I took several photos of my TR4 and TR2 (he wants 3-4 photos of
your car so he can best replicate colors and options) and placed an order for one print of each. I
received an email from David shortly after placing my order asking some specific questions so he was
sure to get things right. A couple of weeks later I received a proof of each car for me to approve before
he made the final prints. After a couple of small changes and a final proof review, he printed them and
within a couple more weeks they arrived.
For those of you who saw the finished product at the club meeting several months ago, you can attest
to the beautiful, high quality work David does. I was so impressed with his work that I’ve since ordered
a print for my TR6 and TR3. He tells me that he’s got the GT6 on his to-do list (See below), but that I
shouldn’t count on a Triumph 10 Estate Wagon print anytime soon. Oh well, at least I’ll have 5 of 6!
I thought I’d see if David would be willing to provide us with a gift certificate for our car show. And he
was more than happy to. I don’t think a club member
won that raffle, but in talking with Byron, the
winner, he was excited about having won it.
Not only that, but he also offered to provide the club
with a special offer. He would not only buy a
sponsorship advertisement in the Clear Hooter, he
offered to provide us with a special web address
that when used for a purchase would provide for a
10% rebate to the club. Wow!
You can find the ad in this (and future) editions of the
Clear Hooter. You can also find it on the club
website under the Sponsors section. By clicking on
his sponsor image on the club’s website, then by
clicking on the web address in the lower-left, you will
be taken to David’s website. And by using that link (or
the one provided below), when you make a purchase,
the club will receive that 10% rebate.
Feel free to share the link with any British car friends
you may have who aren’t club members as any
purchases made through this link by anyone will help
the club. And if you want to see his work in
person, let me know and we can arrange for you to
come by to see it, or I could bring one to the next
club meeting. (Cont. on next page)
(Continued from last page)
Page 13
David currently offers Austin Healeys (BN1-7, BJ7-8, Sprite and several specialty and race cars), Jaguar
E-Type S1 and S2, MGs (A, B, C, TD, TF) and Triumph (TR2-6). He has scheduled (in order) Spridget
MKIII, Jaguar XK120-150, MG TC, Triumph TR250, Triumph TR7-8, Triumph Spitfire MKIII, Triumph
GT6, MGB 75-80, Mini Cooper, Sunbeam Alpine/Tiger, Morgan 4/4, Jensen Healey, Jensen Interceptor,
Triumph Stag and Swallow Doretti. He is shooting to have them all available by the end of the year.
Hopefully your car is one already available, or planned soon. Even if it’s not, send him a note and
request one of your British car’s make and model. IF he gets enough interest, he may add it to the list.

Behind the Wheel editors corner
At long last there is a new editor for your Clear
Hooter. I have volunteered to put the newsletter
together every other month. There may be
occasional newsletters monthly.
The newsletter is a vital piece of communication to
keep members informed of what is happening
within our club and lists events that are happening
that may be of interest to club members.
I would like to feature one members British car on
the cover of each newsletter. If you would like your
ride displayed on the cover, please send me a high
resolution picture of it in a nice place (not just the
parking lot at work!!) to [email protected]
ARTICLES NEEDED:
The newsletter is in need of articles on anything to
do with the club or british cars. Please use
Microsoft Word and save as a document. If
possible use font Arial and do not do any
formatting, just paragraphs of words with a space
between the paragraphs
Any pictures that you have please put them as
attachments to my e-mail: [email protected]

ReCap of Camarillo Air Show
By Terry Schuller
I saved these two pages for a recap of the air show, hoping to showcase CCBCC members, their cars and
planes; but I could find no CCBCC members except C. Darryl Struth and his Ford Pickup. We did not go
on Sunday, so we have no idea who might have showed up. Our 150 Jag seemed to be the only British
car from the CCBCC. There was another Jag that was a 140 and belonged to a pilot who keeps it in his
hanger and brought it out for the show. Most of the pictures here will be of planes!!!!
Here are the two of us, Dave Reid and Terry Schuller, with our Jag
150 in front of a Bearcat, World War II fighter
