The RAIS stove is special.
It stands out. From others. And in your home.
Our philosophy is simple and straightforward: A stove from RAIS has to be more than just a heat
source. It has to unite aesthetics and technology. Form and function. Design and craftsmanship.
We call our philosophy Art of Fire. Because your RAIS stove has to work as an efficient heat source,
utilising the energy of the fire optimally, and as a streamlined design object
– a sculpture, integrated in your home.
Our way of thinking about design and function, requires a lot from our designers, in terms of the
manufacture process and materials used. However, the results are extraordinary.
Thus, our stoves are the epitome of quality – down to the last detail. All RAIS stoves are made
without unnecessary joints, welds and other details with no specific function – be it practically or
aesthetically.
The stoves are eco-friendly heat sources, ensuring efficient combustion at even low effect, and
they are able to draw in combustion air from the outside, in order to provide a better indoor climate.
And we have stoves, which fit in any home and any decoration. From castle to cabin. From nostalgia
to modern minimalism.
RAIS is strong, contemporary design.
That’s why we call it ART OF FIRE
3
Fire is the heart of the home...
Modern stoves are highlighted by a high degree of
design and eco-friendliness
Since the dawn of time, humans have been closely connected to
fire. Back in the day, homes had a hole in the roof, the fire was
centred in the middle of the room and the family gathered around
the fire, the warm focal point. Indeed, it is still like that – the fire is
the same...
Well, alright – we have improved our homes quite a lot since that
time. They are better insulated. And the fireplace? It has its own
smoke channel. And very modern low-energy houses even have an
invisible channel for the air intake.
Low-energy and rapid heat
This goes for the Christensen family; father, mother and two
children, living in Frederikshavn in a low-energy house with a
RAIS 2:1, a favourite of architects. The indoor climate is controlled by technique, unaffected by the stove. It provides heat when
needed. A streamlined, non-stop stove with a two-sided door, so
they can enjoy the fire in both kitchen and living room – especially
the bricking frame gave the architect some opportunities, which
we love to play with, when tailoring the inner architecture to fit
the wishes of the family, says architect Kim Bæk from ARKINORD,
Frederikshavn and Aalborg.
4
Impressive combustion
One of our renowned Danish designers, Mads Odgård has the RAIS 700
centrally placed in his Swedish derelict farm house. The place oozes of a
feeling of back to basics, amongst birch, woodpiles, stone fences and
wooden houses, painted in classic Swedish earth tones.
The stove manifests the only screen in the room, completely razor-sharp,
since the efficient window cleanser circulates air and keeps the window
clean on the wide door. The combustion is impressive – with a RAIS, you fire
first-class, the designer states. And of course, in an eco-friendly manner.
High-tech craftsmanship
If the fireplace should be placed in the middle of the room, be
able to handle firewood in upright position and be able to
compete with an excellent view through glass walls, RAIS Q 20
is the right solution with a top class design. And it has to be
design in the home of artists like Inger and Jørgen Pedersen from
Herning. Here, creativity and art is lived, and the urge to create,
forces the couple to express themselves in steel and imaginative
colours.
The stove is also a fine piece of craftsmanship, made of plate
steel, folded and flattened, installed and post-treated with great
care and precision, and today the vibrant centre of the couple’s
kitchen and living room.
5
Floating lightness. Excellent heat.
Regardless, if the stove inset is set and considered from the beginning of the house construction, or integrated in an existing fireplace in terms of refurbishment of the villa from the 70s, the result is the same: A stove inset creates a
visual and floating lightness in the room, not achievable with a regular stove. It is further a high-tech heat source, which is able to unite thought out design with unique functionality. The stoves are for instance able to take in combustion
air from the outside, in order to provide a better indoor climate, or you can go for heat transfer and utilise heat efficiently in several rooms.

It’s GREEN logic!
By heating your home with a wood-burning stove, you have made an environmentally
conscious choice. According to a report from the Danish Environmental Protection Agency from
2012, firewood as a source of energy has a CO2 emission of zero. This conclusion is based on the
logic that trees through their lifetime absorb the same amount of carbon dioxide, which is emitted
through combustion later on.
So, even though wood as fuel is an eco-friendly choice in general, it is far from unimportant what
type of stove or inset you select for firing. There is great difference between how efficient the
stoves on the market use the firewood, and not the least how much they pollute.
RAIS stoves are among the very best on the market, both in terms of utilising heat values in the
firewood, and minimising the environmental impact. And these are not just empty words. We can
actually justify it.
You will know, when you have a look at the “Data” and see the figures under “Efficiency” and
“Particulates” for each stove and inset. The figure for efficiency states how many per cent of the
heat value of the firewood are utilised. The figure for particulates states how many grams noncombusted rest particulates per kilo firewood, are led out with smoke. Both in terms of efficiency
and particulates, the figures for RAIS stoves are absolutely excellent.

New format for a stove insert: RAIS 900 embodies streamlined elegance, which underlines
the style of your home.
Further, there is something distinct and
extravagant to it. The view of the fire is really
phenomenal. The wide view of the fire offers

Passive house – with a
warm RAIS heart...
When building a passive house, either new or via refurbishment, the
wood-burning stove is typically placed in a carefully selected spot
inside.
Here, the cosy centre of the home is created, where the stove
provides heat rapidly, when you feel for it.
The other heat sources are set on specific temperatures, which are
not changed on a daily basis, since it takes time before you feel the
difference. It also works like that in the refurbished house from the
60s, owned by architect Mark Krebs, who works for Bjerg Arkitektur,
specialising in passive houses. Here, the family selected a RAIS 700
for the design, the radiant heat and cosiness.
The house is heated via radiant heat from the sun, a micro geothermal heating system and a ventilation system with heat recovery.
The stove is above all an aesthetic and atmospheric element, but is also able
to increase temperature inside the house with the comfortable radiant heat,
Mark Krebs says.
Further, the house has well-insulated walls and a floor plan with windows
that are headed in such a direction that light is used in the best possible
way.
The RAIS stove draws in combustion air from outside, via an air duct, in order
to provide a good indoor climate in a tight passive house.
And RAIS stoves are known for burning well, also at low effect.
A RAIS 700 is perfect for our house, Mark Krebs says, after having lived in the
house for three years.

The essence of a stove...
Jewellery designer Mette Scherning and photographer Jakob Valling have
put great efforts and plenty of time into decorating their building society
house on Østerbro in Copenhagen. Function and design had to come
together and they do.
This also goes for the stove, which has been integrated in a wonderful
manner – both in terms of aesthetics and our everyday life, Mette
Scherning says; she, her husband and three children have lived with a
RAIS Q-Bic for three years.
The stove is centrally placed in the kitchen-dining area, in order for the
family to enjoy it.
It fits perfectly into the room – without being to dominating. It simply
manifests the essence of a stove...
Mette Scherning works like that, when she is designing jewellery. No
frills. Function plus aesthetics - nothing else. To the core of an idea...
When the family comes home in the late afternoon, they usually turn on
the cooker, light candles and fire the stove in the kitchen. And soon, the
ground and first floor are well-heated. And its simply cosy...

A new era
FIRST-CLASS SUSTAINABILITY...
The World is changing. And so are the requirements and expectations, we have for ourselves, each other and things surrounding us. While environmental
discussions get more intense, we at RAIS take things seriously and act. We gave ourselves a challenge: to develop a wood-burning stove beyond belief.
That technically complies with requirements for a heating source – and concurrently limits what naturally remains after the combustion process. We succeeded.
We at RAIS are proud that we are able to document the development of a wood burning stove, which in terms of technology, design and environment is tip-top in
front. And which complies with a need of many green consumers, since they on a daily basis become able to reduce both the consumption of resources and the
environmental impact. Also in terms of heating.

Unique results
The newly developed Bionic Fire sets new standards for what to
expect from a wood-burning stove. The particle emission is nonmeasurable. The Danish Technological Institute has stated the
emission as being the lowest on the scale. There is no zero – in
order to take scientific inaccuracy into account. Thus, 0.6 is stated.
It is further unique that is along with pure combustion also is
extremely efficient: 86 per cent. Finally, combustion is non-affected
by the user, due to automatic air regulation inside the stove.

Bionic Fire is available in two colours, each complimenting
the door in fantastic manner. The black is an intense contrast

door. A nickel nuance, which is a new RAIS colour, signals
total purity; it is beautiful deep and in excellent symbiosis
with the white and black colours of the door.

The design of Bionic Fire is unique. The distinct, rounded organic form signalises innovation, courage and the urge to challenge conventions. The white edge, surrounding the
glass, signalises purity and a clear environmental profile. The coating frames the stove,
almost making it look like a sculpture in the home.
Bionic Fire is not just a wood-burning stove, it is a piece of furniture, looking great –
when it is fired, and also when it’s just standing there, accentuating itself like a piece of
modern architecture.

RAIs tetra
Design icon
1970
When the designer Bent Falk created the first RAIS on the sketchpad in
1970, he probably did not know how sustainable his design would turn
out to be and how much it would appeal to the spirit of the times for more
than a generation.
When the original RAIS design was introduced, the basis was a strong
ambition to create a new type of wood-burning stove, which was carefully planned in form, function and design. And they succeeded.
The shape effectively broke with previous heat sources, which were often
decorated or created to look like furniture. The original RAIS design made
way for a more stringent style without superfluous details.
2014
The functionality determined the tripartition with the heat chamber at
the top with built-in circular draught for better emission of heat. In the
chamber, you could also bake or fry, or even heat the teapot. Later, when
barbecuing became popular, the design was altered to accommodate
this function.
In the middle, the fireplace itself with the door was placed and the combustion chamber underneath. The functional and pure design for both
the square and round initial models would turn out to be the role model
for most other stoves manufactured since. Since RAIS designed the first
stoves, the development has based on functional and pure design.

Rais Q-Tee
Here is RAIS’ new suggestion for a small, functional and simple stove with
a cubist look. Q-Tee typically matches a minor heating need and small

Tradition for stove cooking...
Even though we in many European countries share the same climate and culture, we often have certain habits
and customs, when it comes to our traditions and everyday life.
The characteristic fireplaces, made of brick, were transformed into modern stoves. And today, many streamlined
and efficient RAIS Q-Tee 1 or 2 fit the openings perfectly, and provide heat for british homes.
This for instance applies to the way we choose to heat our homes. And the way we prepare food, where we like to
be inspired by each other.
But there is more. It is still possible to cook food on the fireplace, which the British still like to do. On the Q-Tee,
the top plate is also the top plate of the combustion chamber itself, which makes it hot enough to cook food on.
Not just for keeping the coffee warm, but for cooking and frying - for instance Beef Stroganoff or bacon and eggs.
In the UK and Ireland, the heating stove is traditionally used to prepare pancakes or other food. While this in
other countries certainly will be regarded to be an old habit – or a new idea...
Other countries may be inspired. How about brunch or a late night snack directly from the RAIS?
Until about half a century ago, homes in the UK and Ireland were solely heated by a traditional fireplace with coal.
However, the energy crisis changed that along with the Dutch elm disease, which made firewood extremely cheap
to buy.

Pure magic. Raw force of nature.
Behind the Finnish nature stone hides a dramatic creation account. It’s the story of extreme forces of nature, of displacement of geological layers, of cold and heat, of fire and water. Out of the inferno comes a stone, which is said to
have magical powers. People of the time believe that the stone keeps evil spirits away. Today, we are still convinced that the stone has magical powers. However, we are not fighting evil spirits anymore – we are fighting the cold of
winter. The stone is unique and possesses the magical ability to stay warm. Thus, it is very suitable for wood-burning stoves, where it stores – and only slowly releases – heat, which makes us able to enjoy it for a longer time.
And with a beautiful appearance with fine lines and patterns, the stone is a true work of art, painted with the wide brush of nature.

Rais JUNO
SOAPSTONE
RAIS Juno soapstone is characterized by a unique sculptural and slim design and demonstrates a
supreme heat accumulation. 255 kilos of stone retains the firing heat, which means that the stove
is still above 60 degrees the next morning. So this top modern stove supplies convective heat
and functions according to the mass stove principle. The tastefully rounded, light natural stones
constitute a beautiful contrast to the fire and the bright glass and steel. Elegant and pure in style,
impressive simplicity! Available with rotary base for an optimal use of the beautiful view of the
fire and a cosy atmosphere. Notice the fine data for the release of particulates and environmental
friendliness. Can be connected to the AIR system intended for dense low energy houses.

HEAT ACCUMULATION
Finnish natural stones retain the heat...
From ancient times it has been a well-established fact that heated stones
retain the heat. The same thing happens when you line a wood-burning
stove with Finnish natural stone: the stove accumulates heat and gives off
radiant heat for a long time, thereby utilising the firewood better.
For example: you get eight hours of afterheat if you place four kg of
firewood in a PILAR 172 equipped with 94 kg of stone. Heat accumulating
stones are available for RAIS PILAR, RAIS VIVA 120, RAIS Q-20 and RAIS JUNO.
GLASS PLATES
RAIS can offer elegant floor plates in hardened glass, fitting
the form of the stove. Please note that the plates simply
can be placed around the stove, for easy cleaning under
the plate.
Glass plates are available for Q-20, Rina, Viva 98, Viva
120 and Juno. A beautiful and simple solution – or even a
perfect finish, when nothing is left to chance.
46
rais CONVECTION GRATES
All RAIS products are created to achieve a quality design. That also applies to our accessories – e.g. convection
grates which are built-in with an inset. Insets represent two types of convection. Partly the convection which
is built into the stove, and partly the convection which, according to regulations, must be established when
building-in the stove – beneath and above the stove.
For insets there is a minimum convection area which must be respected depending on the type of material
used. In this way it is ensured that the stove will be air-cooled, thereby preventing overheating of the wall.
In order to make it easy to meet the criteria, RAIS has designed convection boxes with grills that fit the
size of the individual inset: Q-BIC Insert, RAIS 2:1, Q-TEE, RAIS 500, RAIS 700 and RAIS 900. We also have convection grates which fit the size of the stoves. This way is created when the grills are flush with
the insert. The grills are available in two versions – with long grooves and with holes.
Vertically the grill is the equivalent of a course, bricks with joints.

All RAIS stoves are convection stoves that disperse heat via air circulation. Cold air is taken in from the outside and heated inside the combustion chamber, and it’s then passed on to the stove as hot air, providing an even and comfortable heat dispersion in the house. When building-in an insert into a brick wall, we recommend setting-up extra convection below and under the stove, in order to achieve optimal heat utilisation and to avoid overheating of the brick wall.
The following pages include recommendations, specifications and technical data for each stove. The same goes for dimensions, effect, particulate emission and distance to flammable material. The information is only guiding. Prior to
installation of your wood-burning stove, we recommend that you read the operation manual and guide of the stove and pay attention to the specific recommendations for the stove. Please ensure compliance with all local and national
laws and regulations.

Particulates
In order to ensure an optimal indoor climate, wood-burning stoves from RAIS are able to take in the combustion air from the
outside. This technology also makes it possible to use wood-burning stoves in low energy houses, where a technical control of the heat and air quality is important. The so-called Air system is mounted either in the floor or on the wall behind the
stove. In this way, it will not be seen. The system is standard or available as accessory. In addition to this is the so-called
Air-Kit, which is mounted from the top and out. A discreet covering hides the connection behind the stove. From the outside,
you can only see a small grate in the wall.

Production
RAIS is an Danish production company, creating wood-burning stoves, inserts and accessories in a modern production environment with the newest robot
technology and measuring instruments. However, the concept of wood-burning stoves and RAIS, have existed for more than 35 years – emerging from former
Ørskov Maskinfabrik in Frederikshavn.
The factory was founded by the Ørskov family that later on founded Ørskov Stålskibsværft, now Orskov Yard. Originally, the machine shop manufactured
traditional machine components and was in the mid-1990s sold and taken over by the Swiss company Attika, where it got a new name. The change to RAIS A/S
marked the beginning of a new era.
Today, RAIS has about 90 employees within the fields of development, design and production of wood-burning stoves and accessories. Production and distribution for the whole world is based in Frederikshavn.
