This guide is provided by the West Region Little League Umpire

A message from the West Region Director
On behalf of the entire Western Region family,
we welcome all of the volunteer umpires that have
been selected to umpire in the “2015” Western
Region Baseball and Softball Tournaments.
Through your dedication and volunteer service to
the leagues in your local communities, you have
earned the right to represent us at this elite level
of play.
The Volunteer umpire plays a major role in the success of the local
league and selection as a Regional umpire is a significant achievement
deserving of much recognition. To earn such an honor an umpire
must demonstrate above average skills, adhere to the true principles
of Little League Baseball and Softball and provide their officiating
services on a voluntary basis.
Many of this year’s Regional umpires have waited years for the
opportunity to umpire at this level and it will undoubtedly be an
experience that will last a lifetime.
Our sincere thanks and best wishes go out to each volunteer
umpire and we wish you the best and hope that you have a
pleasurable and rewarding experience and thank you for your
dedication and commitment to Little League Baseball and Softball.

A message from the West Region Umpire In Chief
It is with great pleasure and honor that we
introduce you to the 2015 Western Region and
World Series Umpires. Each is an exceptional Little
League volunteer and have reach the goal of being
selected for the highest levels of officiating. The
volunteer Little League Umpire has a critical role
in the development of each child involved in the
Little League program.
The umpire is an essential part of the lessons learned relative to
sportsmanship, responsibility, winning and losing. They understand
what it means to be part of a team. Each takes on the responsibility
of being a good role model and providing each participant with
the positive life lessons that will allow them to become better
adults and future leaders in our communities. The men and women
honored with Regional or World Series selections in 2015 have
attained recognition for their hard work, commitment and loyalty to
Little League. Each is now a member of a special fraternity. Please
congratulate them for their accomplishment.
As Umpire in Chief of the Western Region and on behalf of
the Assistant Umpire in Chief, Doug Perret, we both thank you
for all you have done this year and in years past to garner this
achievement. You are a credit to your local leagues, Districts, Sections
and the Western Region. Please take every opportunity to enjoy the
experience to the fullest and share it with those who have helped you
along the way.

A message from the WRLLUAA President
On behalf of my fellow members of the Western
Region Little League Umpire Alumni Association,
I want to congratulate all of you who have been
selected to umpire at a Western Region baseball
or softball tournament in 2015. You join a long
and distinguished list of volunteer umpires who
have had the honor and privilege of being selected
from amongst their peers to work one of these
prestigious post-season tournaments.
Your selection is a great honor for you, your family, and for your
District and one you have worked hard to attain I am sure. The
volunteer umpire is an integral member of the Little League program.
This assignment takes you away from your family, friends, and work
to positively help shape the lives of our youth. For that commitment
and sacrifice, you should be highly commended.
I, along with each member of our Umpire Alumni Association
thank you for your time and dedication. You are part of the closest
and best fraternity in the world. Be proud of your achievements, they
are well earned. Enjoy the games, the atmosphere, the camaraderie
and have a great Tournament!!!
Thru generous donations and memberships since its inception in
2005, the Umpire Alumni Association has invested tens of thousands
of dollars into equipment, scholarships and facilities benefitting Little
League volunteer umpires throughout the Western Region. Since
that beginning, we have grown to over 200 members, both men
and women, from all walks of life. What we have in common is a
true dedication to the Little League program and the belief in its
principles; Character – Courage – Loyalty.
If you have not already done so, please consider joining the
Umpire Alumni Association (a public charitable 501(c)(3) tax exempt
organization) and assisting us in continuing our efforts.

PERSONAL: I have a lovely fiancée, Jill Roozee. My loving
daughter Alexandra Kettler. Two other beloved children John
and Tina who have left us far too soon and 4 grandchildren
whom I am very proud off.

VOLUNTEER CAREER: I have umpired at the Sectional level
for 18 years and at Division 3 times. I am the UIC for our local
league (Benicia Little league) I have done training for 20+ years
for our league and 5 years for District 53.

PERSONAL: Married with two children. Born in San Francisco
and living in Portland, Oregon since 1984. Corporate attorney
in private practice since 1982.
HOBBIES: Jazz enthusiast.
PERSONAL: I have been married to my wife, Linda for 40
years. We have three children, Malinda, Michael, and Robert. I
am the proud grandparent of 5 children.
HOBBIES: I enjoy playing guitar, and wood working.

umpire at district and state levels.
VOLUNTEER CAREER: I started volunteering for LL first as a
coach (11 years), and have filled the following volunteer roles:

Years).

studies teacher in Vacaville, California and have taught for
20 years. I have also been a staff development trainer for
history instruction for 14 years.; I am the proud father of two
teenage boys, Kevin and Jack, and have been in a wonderful
relationship with my girlfriend Dina for the last three years;
I am also very active in my church and have served as the
Sacristan for St. James Parish for the last 15 years.
HOBBIES: I love baseball - especially following the SF Giants!
My other hobbies include umpiring, photography, and hiking.

for Little League from coaching to being a local league
president for 2 different leagues to being an Assistant District
Administrator. I have been a volunteer Little League umpire for
12 years including at the District and State tournaments for 7

PERSONAL: I have been married to my wife Beth for 27 years.
I have two children, Logan and Amelia. Logan is 25 years
old and is a Lieutenant Junior Grade and Naval Aviator in the
Navy. Amelia is 23 years old and a massage therapist in Las
Vegas.
PERSONAL: U.S. Marine Corps Veteran; Married to Lisa
Rodriguez-U.S. Navy-retired; Sons: George Jr and Alexander;
5th grade teacher at Harada Elementary(11 Years) in the
Corona Norco Unifed School District.
HOBBIES: Golf
HOBBIES: In addition to umpiring, I am an avid runner who
has completed 23 marathons, including 3 Boston Marathons.
I also enjoy chasing a little white ball around a grass field trying
to get it to go into a 4.25” hole 18 times.

Been blessed to serve in many leagues in California District
35. Had the honor to travel to Kutno,Poland in 2012. Serve
as assistant UIC for my district as well as 90 ft Regional
instructor.

VOLUNTEER CAREER: Member of Concord American Little
League for 16 years. 15 years as a Manager from T-ball thru
Major division. 12 of those years as a board member that
includes positions of VP for 7 yrs and President for 3 years.
Currently in my 3rd year as Umpire in Chief. I have umpired
TOC championship games, district games, sectional and
division games throughout Northern CA. I’ve been a member
of C4UA for 8+ years and I am in my 2nd year as a member of
the training staff.
PERSONAL: Married to Molly Pardi for 17 years Have 2 boys
ages 20 and 16. Both whom I’ve coached since T-ball all
the way thru Majors. Retired Iron Worker, currently working
as Project Manager at ! Conco Re inforcing Steel Division.

VOLUNTEER CAREER: Active with Little League since
1994. Board member of Warm Springs Little League for 12
years, including UIC, vice president and president positions.
Currently ADA for District 14. Umpired 9/10, 11, Little League
(Majors) and Junior N. California State Tournaments from
2002 to date. Umpired EMEA Little League (Majors) Regional
Championship in Kutno, Poland in 2006 and European Little
League (Majors) Regional Championship in Kutno, Poland
in 2008. District Umpire Instructor since 2004. Instructed at
outreach clinics in 2012, 2014, and 2015.
PERSONAL: UK citizen, born 2/4/52 in Sutton, Surrey,
England; Raised and attended school in Sidcup, Kent (12
miles to the SE of London); Graduated college in 1974 with an
early degree in Computer Science; Married to Jenny in 1977
(now married for 37 years); Two sons: Ian who is 27, Steven
who will be 22 at the time of the tournament, both of whom
played Little League from Tee-ball thru Big League; Lived in
the US permanently with my family since 1989 (26 years), after
previously living here temporarily in 1980/81.
HOBBIES: Woodworking; Certain aspects of WW II
(intelligence and code breaking, strategic bombing campaign);
Cartophily (collecting cigarette cards); Photography; In the
past, was serious bridge player.

VOLUNTEER CAREER: I started as a minor softball coach in
1999 when our local league adopted softball as a part of their
program. The next year I became the softball coordinator for
the program. In 2003 I began umpiring at the local level for
both softball and baseball. I also have held the following jobs
in my league from President, safety officer, umpire-in-chief,
and player agent. I have umpired in many state tournaments
beginning in 2005 and was also invited to be a host regional
umpire for Junior softball that year. In 2007 I was an assigned
Junior softball regional umpire and continued to umpire
softball and baseball at the state level until 2013 when I was
selected as a Junior softball World Series umpire. In 2104
I was selected to go to Poland and umpire at the EuropeAfrica Regional Senior, Junior, and Little League Softball
tournaments.
VOLUNTEER CAREER: This will be my first Regional
Tournament. I have volunteered at the local league level since
my kids started playing baseball. Within District 59 the level
of umpiring is set to the highest level and a lot is expected
of their umpires. Attending umpire school at Western Region
is the only way to become one of the best. I have attended
almost every clinic offered from Western Region Little League
Umpire School. Including the week long school, the “Train the
Trainer”, The Rules clinic as well as the Outreach clinics held
in San Jose. I have umpired league championship games,
District Championship games, Section Championship games
and Division Semi-Finals games. I have been a volunteer at the
Section 5 Outreach clinic for the last 3 years.
DISTRICT: Arizona 8
PERSONAL: I moved to Arizona in 1996 and raised by three
children. Megan, Michelle, and Bobby. I now have three
grand-daughters to enjoy and watch grow. I teach 8th-grade
science at the middle school.They have 3 children, Cameron
17, Wyatt 15, and Anika 13.
HOBBIES: My new found love is traveling. I give little league
some of the credit for the new adventures that I have found
when traveling to the many tournaments that I have been
involved in over the last 16 years.

VOLUNTEER CAREER: Former DUIC at District 43. Current
ADA and DUIC at D72. Former UIC for Norco Little League.
Umpired in Divisional Baseball and Divisional SR. Lead instructor for District Umpire training last 3 years.
PERSONAL: Wife Betty married 48 years. 2 children and 6
grandchildren one who is a District Umpire for D72.
PERSONAL: My wife Londa and I have been married for 15
years this July 22, 2015. We have 2 boys Reilly 11 (Has played
7 years and last 2 seasons in the Majors division) and Nick 8
(Has played 5 years and the last season played in Minors)
HOBBIES: Other than volunteering in LL baseball I enjoy
woodworking, bike riding and hanging out with my wife and
kids. I love my job at Commercial Casework Inc. In Fremont
Ca. where I am a millwork estimator.

2013 as a Business Manager at UC Santa Barbara and is now
pursuing a BA degree in Sociology. Son Bryan has a Masters
Degree in Sport Management and works in the Intercollegiate
Athletic Department at UC Santa Barbara as the Ticketing and
Event Staff Operations Director.

15 years. I umpired the RBI Championship at Dodger Stadium

VOLUNTEER CAREER: 8 years on the board of local Little
League Central Vancouver 2 years on WA District 4 staff. I
coached for 7 years and have umpired for 8 years. I have
been to 6 local umpire out reach clinics and have been to the
week long in 2013. I have done both district and state games
of ages 9 to 16.
VOLUNTEER CAREER: Started umpiring in 1998. Became a
league board member in 2000 - 2004. Attended the Western
Region LL umpire school in 2005. Became a district staff
umpire in 2005 to present. Post season assignments include

PERSONAL: I’ve been married to my soul mate for 30 years
who I met in high school when we were 15. We have 2 beautiful and wonderful kids, Adam (24) and Amanda (21). I’ve been
working in healthcare 10 years for Kaiser Permanente. I’m in
Materials Management and support the surgery departments.
It’s a very rewarding job. Before that I was working in the hitech industry for 20 years.

between them I have 2 grandsons (both 2 years old) and 1

tournament). There are 5 generations still alive in my family, so

since that came on the night my first grand child was born.

John graduated from California State University at Fullerton in
1981 with a degree in Accounting.
HOBBIES: I played Little League from age 6 through 16. I
had a few health issues that caused me to miss a season and
couldn’t make up the lost time. I decided to run track and
cross country to stay in shape. I played slow-pitch softball
3-4 nights per week during college and through age 42. That
is when I really started to focus on coaching my boys and
umpiring games. Baseball was a huge part of my childhood.
My father played in the Cubs’ minor league system, my cousin
played at AAA for the Dodgers, and I had a high school buddy
drafted by the Pirates.

John Foster
DISTRICT: Oregon 7
VOLUNTEER CAREER: I have been associated with Little
League off and on since approximately 1976. I have been a
coach, manager, umpire and board member. I am currently
a District board member. I have had the privilege of umpiring
at Western Regional Little League Softball and at the World
Series Little League Softball. I have umpired numerous District,
State and Divisional Softball and Baseball games.
PERSONAL: I have been married for 33+ years. Our wedding
day happened to be on opening day for All Stars and I was
the manager of a Senior Major Baseball team. Immediately
after the opening ceremony I had to get ready for my wedding.
Our honeymoon was cut short due to my first game. For the
past 20+ years I get to celebrate our anniversary umpiring
a District or State All Star game; I have 2 boys and 2 girls.
All have played Little League.; I have 3 grandsons and 2
granddaughters. The oldest grandson is playing T Ball.
Raymond Reeves
DISTRICT: Montana District 1
VOLUNTEER CAREER: I have been with Lockwood Little
League in Billings, Montana (District 1) as an Umpire since
2000. In 2010 I was selected for the Juniors Softball Regionals
in Tucson, AZ.
PERSONAL: I have 4 boys that play ball for Lockwood Little
League, my oldest is 14 and the youngest is 8. I have served
in the Navy for the past 11 years and was deployed from 2008
- 2009 for 18 months.
HOBBIES: Spending time with my sons, we like to hike, ride
our bikes, go camping and sometimes just hang out at home
and watch movies.
HOBBIES: I enjoy my association with Little League and seeing
sons and daughters of kids who I either coached or umpired. I
also enjoy being and doing things with family.
Scott Moseley
VOLUNTEER CAREER: Big League Softball Regional 2014,
Umpire numerous all star games at District, Section and
Division levels in both baseball and softball at all levels.
Umpired over 300 regular season games over the past three
years. Served as league UIC at Quartz Hill LL in 2013. Assist
District with instruction and training of volunteer umpires at
District and local league clinics for the past three years. Served
as a coach as well as an umpire at QHLL for 4 years before
shifting focus to umpiring the last few years.
Jim Rose
VOLUNTEER CAREER: 16 years in Little League as coach,
manager and umpire (15 years). Martinez LL UIC, California
District 4 Umpire Training Staff, Attended Western Region UIC
Clinic and will attend 3-day Western Region Mechanics Clinic.
PERSONAL: Married to Kate, and have two children, Nick and
Hannah.
HOBBIES: Little League umpiring, walking/hiking, reading.
PERSONAL: Separated with 3 daughters (25 and 23 yr old
twins), and 3 grandsons.
HOBBIES: Golf, motorcycle riding (street), umpiring at all

PERSONAL: Married 22 yrs to Kim, we have 7 children, 9
grand children. My wife is on District staff and our youngest
son Justin is also an umpire and has attended the school in
San Bernadino with me.
Bill Fitzharris
VOLUNTEER CAREER: In addition to my 20 years of
volunteering for LL (as a local and district umpire and trainer
and a local LL board member), I coached 1 daughter’s soccer
team for 10+ years, served as Board Pres. of the other
daughter’s amateur swim team/club, officiated countless swim
meets, and refereed HS girls and boys lacrosse. I’ve enjoyed
umpiring at these LL Western Region Softball tournaments:
Majors (2010), Juniors (2013), and Seniors (2014).
PERSONAL: Married to the saintly Marsha for 39 years. Father
to 2 successfully-launched children.
Joel Loftgren
VOLUNTEER CAREER: Has umpired at various divisions
of State Tournament for Baseball and Softball, including
11-12, Majors, Juniors, Seniors and Big League. Umpired
the Western Region Junior Baseball Tournament in 2012 in
addition to the Senior Division of EMEA Regional in Novara,
Italy in 2012 and 2013. Has attended various Rules and
Mechanics clinics including the Western Region Weeklong in
2012 & 2013, where he was the recipient of the Bob Thornton
Award in 2013. He has instructed at the Western Regional
Headquarters and at various Outreach Clinics in Oregon and
Washington. He is currently on District 4 Staff serving as the
Safety Officer and District Umpire Baseball Trainer.
PERSONAL: Married to his wonderful, supportive and beautiful
wife Emily, Sons Joseph and Matthew.
HOBBIES: Enjoys traveling and being a Little League

Myrle McLernon
VOLUNTEER CAREER: I haven’t done any other little league
Regional or world series tournaments. I have done many
divisional tournaments for both baseball and softball (major
and minor baseball; minor, major, junior, senior, and big league
softball). I have attended the Western Regional Jr. Umpire
Clinic three times and have been an instructor for my District’s
clinic for 4 years.
PERSONAL: My father’s name is also Myrle McLernon, he has
done the Jr. softball world series along with Major softball and
big league softball regionals. This year he was also selected
for a baseball regional.
