Not only are we continuing to grow and expand our services, we are also in the process of affiliating with The University of Vermont Health Network (UVMHN). We have made great progress in our negotiations with The University of Vermont Health Network, culminating with the Boards of Directors for both organizations voting to approve a definitive membership agreement. This is a major milestone in the process that will lead to our becoming the fifth hospital to join UVMHN in early 2016. As a UVMHN affiliate hospital, we will enjoy a new and powerful brand name. We will benefit from significantly better purchasing power and stronger service linkages. We will improve access to capital resources and enhanced technology. And we will see dramatic growth in physician and clinical integration, which will improve our ability to provide the highest quality care to our community. This has been an exciting year for Alice Hyde in other ways too. We have been successful in adding 19 new providers to our medical staff, including nine new physicians, two physician assistants, five nurse practitioners, two dentists and one CRNA. These new providers have helped our organization maintain its continued growth, and we have seen a tremendous increase in outpatient volumes across the organization. Our health centers and physician practices continue to see impresive growth, indicating that more patients are staying in our community for their healthcare needs. Additionally, The Alice Center, our new skilled nursing and assisted living facility, has opened and is providing quality care to our senior community in a homelike environment. We have taken substantial steps to provide the highest level of patient-focused care in our Emergency Department. The new Director of our ED, Dr. Keri Gardner, has worked with our Emergency Department Process Improvement team to streamline processes and improve communication among team members. This has resulted in a decrease of 75% in the average wait time to be placed in an exam room and a decrease of 44% in the average wait time to see an ED physician. These improvements in the patient experience have resulted in a dramatic increase in the volume of patients using our Emergency Department. Health care reform is making the headlines every day, and we recognize that the landscape in which we work will be shifting in the months and years ahead. For these reasons, Alice Hyde will maintain its adaptability and our staff and providers will rise to meet the challenges we will undoubtedly face….just as we have done for more than 100 years.
