THE BEGINNING
OF OUR HISTORY

LOCAL AND GLOBAL
SANOVO’s history starts in 1937 when Munke Mølle (a mill originally established by English Benedictine monks around the early 1100’s) invested in
a spray drier to experiment with new methods in the milling business.
There are many companies within our group – each with their own
history, values and strong local brands. Our common group concept is
essential in defining the present and future direction of our group:
After a few years it was obvious that this technique
did not work as expected, so the mill looked around for
other possible applications for the spray drier. One such
possibility was to produce milk powder and dried egg
powder. These powders were then mixed with flour from
the mill and other ingredients to manufacture various
semi-processed food products.
In late 1941 this project was formalized into the company
which has grown into the SANOVO EGG GROUP.
The SANOVO EGG GROUP headquaters are situated in
Odense, Denmark - also the birth town of the famous
fairy tale writer Hans Christian Andersen. His story of
“The woman with the Eggs” was used as part of the
SANOVO image from the early beginning.

In our R&D we focus on tailor-made compounds, which are combinations of specially developed
functional Egg Powders blended with specifically selected ingredients. This enables us to make compounds with safe and guaranteed results every time for our customers within the Fine Food industry,
particularly within the mayonnaise and dressing industry.
FUNCTIONAL EGG BASED BLENDS
for the bakery industry
We focus on making complete or part mixes for the bakery industry. These can be co-dried mixes to
improve functionality or dry blended ingredients with egg powder as the main functional ingredient.
By doing this and using our technology we can make convenient, consistent products and cost saving solutions for our customers.
IMPROVED QUALITIES OF EGG WHITE POWDER
- gel strength and whipping ability
In cooperation with our sister company, SANOVO ENGINEERING, we are working on improving the
functionalities of egg white powder by using unique production equipment and specialised manufacturing methods, developed together with The Danish Institute for Agricultural Science. It is our
aim to investigate fully and incorporate the possibilities of Enzymes in our future development of
Egg Albumen Products.
ENZYMES
Today we have control of our own hens and the feed involved for part of the Eggs we use in our
production. We will make it our task to identify and explore the possibilities within the area of
changing the feed. Also we aim to look closely at changing and extracting the different fatty acids
and proteins in the yolk and egg white. As part of our future plans we will look at the use of new
production methods and the use of Enzymes within this field. The SANOVO EGG GROUP are already
in the process of exploring and developing the possibilities especially in the infant formula industry,
Functional Foods and Pharmaceutical applications.
