Class activities for lower primary years.

ACTIVITY 1 – A is for Apples
Watch and sing the Apple and Banana song.
Divide the class into two groups – the apples and the bananas sing the song together and then in parts.
Draw apples and bananas.
Scribe, copy, or write a sentence about the fruit
(or use word “cloze” to fill in the correct vowels under each picture). _ ppl _ s

Re-sing the song and replace the lyrics eg “o” for oranges and mangoes, “u” for plums and “i” for limes.
Work out a simple dance routine eg
- Fingers and thumbs forwards for “a”, or create “a” shape with arms when singing the word “apples”.
- Create a curve shape with arms when singing the word “bananas”.
Extension activities
Play Wiggles Fruit Salad, and Sesame Street Fruit songs and do the dance movements.
