A word from Mathew Prichard
The English Riviera was dear to my grandmother’s
heart and where better to celebrate her life and works
than here on the glorious South Devon coast? I look
forward to meeting some of you during the week and
to enjoying the, as ever, packed programme of events.
While you’re here, explore the Agatha Christie
Literary Trail through the English Riviera and
South Devon. Pick up your guide in the Visitor
Information Centres and participating venues.

WIN!
To mark the 75th anniversary
of the publication of Agatha
Christie’s The ABC Murders,
a special treasure hunt has
been created which will run
throughout the festival.
26 letters (A – Z) will be hidden
across the three towns of
Torquay, Paignton and Brixham,
with a series of clues leading
amateur sleuths to discover
their whereabouts.
A prize trip on either of the
Orient-Express UK day trains,
The British Pullman or Northern
Belle*, is up for grabs for the top
sleuths who find the most letters.
A clue sheet can be collected
from the Visitor Information
Centres in Torquay, Paignton and
Brixham, as well as any of the
libraries across the resort from
Friday 9th September. The forms
can also be downloaded from the
website at www.englishriviera.
co.uk/agathachristie from the
same date. Completed entry
forms should be handed into
the Visitor Information Centres
or libraries in Torquay, Paignton,
Churston and Brixham by
Monday 19th September.
*Day trip for two aboard
either the British Pullman or
Northern Belle Orient Express
trains courtesy of Orient Express

to availability. No cash alternative.
Must be taken within one year.

Agatha Christie’s VERDICT
(Every day except Sundays)
Bill Kenwright, by special arrangement with the Agatha Christie Theatre Company,
presents Agatha Christie’s VERDICT, the most riveting and compelling drama from the
undisputed ‘Queen of Crime.’
Having been forced to flee persecution in his home country, the brilliant and idealistic
Professor Karl Hendryk leads a content and morally upstanding life, caring for his invalid
wife Anya and hiding his romantic feelings towards her sister Lisa. His life is turned upsidedown however when the prospect of life-saving treatment for Anya persuades him to take
on a new pupil against his better judgement; the spoilt, conniving minx Helen who will stop
at nothing to get her way. With murderous intentions afoot, it only remains to be seen
what verdict will be delivered, and if justice will prevail...
