The Posada de Balitx is set in a quiet
location at the end of a small street
in the centre of Sóller. Calle La Luna,
the shopping street and pedestrian
area of Sóller is only a short stroll
down the cobblestone, traffic-free
Calle Hospicie. The Plaza with its
many cafés and the market hall can
be reached in less than 5 minutes.
Built in 1610 and located right in the
middle of the old town, the Posada
de Balitx has an interesting history.
The grand house was used by the
original owners as a stopover on the
arduous journey by horse and donkey
carts from their home in Palma to the
lands and mills on the west coast of
the Tramuntana Mountains. Moreover,
historians suspect that in even earlier
times the Arab baths of Sóller were
located in this quarter.
Set into the restored original facade,
the Posada entrance is through
ancient wooden doors and stone
archway. One immediately enters
a 70m² and 4m high entrada with
original cobblestone floor and an
impressive archway to the gardens.
The Posada de Balitx has five
luxurious and generously sized
