It’s Spring
time.....
Spring is finally upon us and gardeners are
rejoicing. As always, we are ready for a big
spring at Pohlmans with many new exciting
and unique additions.
Our Production Manger has been travelling
the world searching for new and improved
breeding and has found some exciting
products to compliment our current ranges.
All our new lines are extensively trialled on
site first to ensure they hold up and perform in
our climate.
One of the stand out additions this season
is a breakthrough in Mandevilla breeding.
Our new Illusions range sees the traditional
climbing variety transformed into a small
shrub and pot variety.
Our popular Gourmet Vege range also has
some great new additions. The new Pizza
mixed pack has everything you need in
the one pack to create authentic Italian
cuisine and the new Pumpkini is versatile
dual purpose vegetable – Harvest early as a
zucchini or leave it to mature and harvest as
a pumpkin.

Petunia x hybrid
Petunia Avalanche is the original spreading perennial Petunia. With masses
of flowers and improved wet weather tolerance, Avalanche will simply outshine ordinary Petunias with their sheer durability. Their well-mounded and
full habit is particularly conducive to premium hanging basket production. A
true mounding habit provides an ever-cascading effect.

Petunia x hybrid
Petunia Songbirds combine large, slightly ruffled
flowers with a tight compact habit that produces an
abundance of continual colour. This Petunia’s key
attributes include an amazing resistance to harsh
weather, especially heavy storm rains and wind
damage. Their climate adaptability as well as the bold
colour palette of orange, white, yellow, deep blue,
burgundy and blue ice, make this is a versatile and
proven garden performer.

Cucurbita pepo
Squash, or pumpkin as we know it down under, is relatively
easily to grow in a home garden. Fantastic new breeding
from Pohlmans has developed less trailing vines that enable
tighter harvests on vines in less space. Suited for container
patio gardening and smaller gardens. This squash produces a
butternut coloured pumpkin shaped fruit with deep orange flesh
has a unique sweet melon scent and a sweet nutty taste.

The Gourmet Vegies range was first developed to supply the customer
with a carefully selected gourmet product that could be taken out of the
chef’s kitchen and used at home. Available in 4cell advanced size punnets
for better seedling establishment, giving customers confidence in strong

their variety, taste & health benefits.

Salvia nemorosa
These first-year flowering perennials produce compact and
well-branched plants topped by vibrant coloured flowers. A
new variety, where elongated spikes of deep blue and dark
pink blooms tower over the fragrant, dark green foliage. Also
has proven traits of being drought, frost and heat tolerant.

AGASTACHE PARTY TIME
Agastache aurantiaca
Agastache Party Time is an improved series providing a great
upright and compact habit with wispy summer flower power. This
delicate perennial is comprised of three compact and uniform varieties - lavender, peach and raspberry - all vividly coloured flowers.
Agastache Party Time is also known as a medicinal and fragrant
herb, with excellent heat and drought tolerance. A very useful herb
in mixed container plantings or in the garden bed.

Tomato Totem is a compact tomato that

bright red and yellow cherry sized fruit.
They feature a short production time and

Tomato Tumbling Tiger is a cascading
tomato that can be used for ornamental

Celosia Twisted provides strikingly
brilliant and unique cockscomb
crested heads on tall flower spikes
that never stop flowering. An intense
colour which keeps producing
multiple heads of impulse colour.
An exciting and unique introduction with similarities to a
compact summer Chrysanthemum, only hardier. These are
easy to grow flowering perennials (treated as an annual) with a
compact habit and will bloom until winter frosts in containers.
All Calypso Coreopsis’ are huge bloomers of bold colours, have
a long flowering window and have self-cleaning flowers.
Sun-loving, drought tolerant and long blooming Gaillardia, which
is also called the ‘Blanket Flower’, is the perfect perennial
for long hot summers. Flowers are 2-3 inches wide, bloom in
blazing warm shades, often bicolour, with serrated petals and a
prominent center. The plants go dormant in the winter but come
back in early spring. New are the tubular petals with flared open
yellow tips.

dimension for uses of this fantastic
flowering line. With its medium compact
shrub habit and no tendrils, this can be

Red Flash is a ground cover with a difference, providing both foliage and flower

Proven Australian-bred Grevilleas from Austraflora will hit the market in
volumes this spring as Pohlmans have responded to demands to have the best
performing Grevilleas more available. To make these popular varieties more
readily available we have converted these to our volume 140mm range.
BABY GREVILLEAS:
‘Jelly Baby’ provides a mass of small jelly-pink flowers covering a dense, low
mounding ground cover from late winter to summer,
complimented by soft grey foliage.
‘Coral Baby’ is a dense, shapely-mounded shrub,
massed with small soft pink and cream fowers,
covering the foliage throughout winter and spring.
‘Bon Accord’ is an erect or arching dense shrub
with net-like foliage creating a brilliant bird habitat.
Its brilliant waxy red flowers appear from early
spring to late winter.
‘Charlies Angels’ is a compact native ground cover
producing numerous bunches of waxy red & yellow
flowers throughout the year.
‘Bonnie Prince Charlie’ is a free flowering, compact
dwarf shrub with dark green leaves and showy

different from most other modern Hydrangeas.

Strawberries & CreamTM is a lace cap Hydrangea
with dramatic red/white lace cap flowers
contrasting against large dark green foliage. A
multitude of flowers cover the whole bush all

Blueberries & CreamTM – is a lacecap hydrangea
with a difference – it has beautiful blue blooms
offset with a cluster of light pale blue flushed buds
in the center.
Free flowering and very compact in habit, the blue
blooms are beautifully offset by the rich dark green
foliage.
