We are proud of the supportive measures we have put in place such as our learning centre and peer tutoring. In addition, we identify students at risk, track their progress and offer them support. The College also identifies courses that give students particular difficulty: they are scheduled during peak hours and the student-teacher ratio is capped. Students are polled regularly with regards to their perceptions of the College and their satisfaction level with the services they are offered. The poll results are used to improve the learning environment as well as the quality of student life. We will continue to work hard at creating an environment that fosters a sense of pride and belonging and thereby enhance student success. Put simply, we at Heritage College are committed to the success of our students. The codes are as follows: 1. Code Red = Evacuation of the building 2. Code White = Lock-Down situation 3. Code Green = All Clear In the event of a lock-down situation, the Code Orange alert would be used. In order to ensure that all Cégep Heritage College occupants are in a secure and safe place during a lock down situation, at the sound of the CODE White alert (Lock down code) or at the sound of anything that could be perceived as an eminent threat to anyone’s safety (gun shots, etc.) everyone should: A. Seek shelter in the nearest room and gather as many people as possible from the hallways or corridors; B. Lock and barricade the door; C. Close all blinds or shades if possible; D. Turn off the lights and all other audio equipments; E. Remain silent; F. Stay Calm; G. If possible, place a piece of paper against the window facing the exterior of the building on which will be written the number of people who are injured in the room in order to inform the local law enforcement; H. Stay away from windows and doors; I. Keep low to the floor. J. If the fire alarm rings during a lock-down situation , unless you have firsthand knowledge that there is a fire, stay put and wait until the CODE GREEN alert (all clear code) is heard over the P.A. system – this informs all that the lock down situation is over; AND K. Maintain this secure position until local law enforcement is waiting at the room’s door and that confirmation as to its authenticity has been received. After law enforcement has confirmed all is clear, the meeting place after a lockdown situation is the cafeteria of Le Collège de l’Outaouais, our neighbor, located at 333, Cité des Jeunes blvd. This is the location where everyone is asked to meet after a lockdown.
