Factory & Facilities
REL’s headquarters in UK and operate its factory with a 7000m² fabrication facility in Satu Mare, Romania REL are certified ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 3834:2006, which covers the quality
requirements for fusion welding of metallic materials. The factory has two fabrication, machining and assembly lines equipped with 12,5Te cranes, with shot blasting and paint
Fabrication takes place alongside the machining activity. The factory is well equipped to handle the assembly and test of system with pull and lift capacity up to 100Te.
Our equipment is delivered with cable spooled when requested.

The company’s main business is the design, manufacture and supply of marine lift equipment and winches for the marine site survey, seismic survey, offshore oil and gas survey and
oceanographic survey. All our systems are designed to be in accordance with and fully comply with the latest health and safety and specific marine classification society requirements.

a portable AUV handling system capable of operating
from a wide range research vessels, including RRS
Discovery, RRS Charles Darwin, RRS James Cook and
the RRS James Clark Ross
1995 to date the system involved the handling of a
mechanically faired cable onto a drum with a single
layer capacity grooved drum. Specific details included
means of automatically righting the fairing to enable
storage on a grooved drum, also included speed and
tension monitoring together with depth control
Dr Nick Millard, the UK Autosub was developed by IOS for
extensive autonomous underwater survey
Dr Keith Tipping and Dr Keith Birch IOS
Dr John Burt DERA and more recently Chelsea
These projects were development projects where Marine Project Development worked to deliver a bespoke solution. Evidence of the involvement can be found on the UK NERC website or
through SOC in Southampton.
MPD worked continually with the UK Defence Research Establishment at Weymouth Portland from 1985 through to 2001, much of the work carried out is of a sensitive nature and cannot be
fully detailed for this document.
