Sanna
Interviewed by Muhaddisa Walji
Sanna started off on Instagram by inspiring
other artists across the globe to enhance their
talent, due to high demand she started doing
Youtube and now is famous Make-Up Artist.
Her talent really speaks for herself. We had the
pleasure of interviewing her for advice for our
Brides-To-Be on what they should do for their
big day.

“I always recommend buying
fragrance free skincare..”
A bride needs to be picture ready at all times, what
lipstick have you found is long lasting?
For long lasting lipsticks I highly recommend
Illamasqua lipsticks; it really helps to use a lip liner
before applying your lipstick, to last all day.
Is there a specific skincare routine that a bride
should regularly perform? A bride should always cleanse and moisturise every
morning and night, according to her skin type. I always
recommend buying fragrance free skincare, as this
will prevent any breakouts or irritation. Also, natural
products are brilliant such as almond oil, apply before
bed for glowing, healthy skin.
What is your all time favourite beauty product?
This one is difficult! I have so many different products.
For my everyday routine, it has to be concealer. I switch
my concealers depending on how my skin is like, my
favourites would have to be LA girl pro concealer,
Illamasqua & Anastasia.
Is there anything a bride should or shouldn’t do
leading up to the big day?
Definitely don’t decide to try out things on your skin
that you haven’t done before for example a face mask
might break you out, or a new product can perhaps
give you an allergic reaction. Use only natural products!
One of my past clients had perfect skin but a week
before her wedding she got her face waxed (never
tried it before) and it gave her breakouts that left her
devastated.

What are the things a bride should be aware of
before choosing her MUA?
A bride should always pay attention to the makeup
skills first, as that’s what is going to make you look
good. They should see if they have chosen the right
person for their look in mind; the most important
thing to a bride on her wedding day is her image and
makeup plays a huge part. I recommend brides to go
on makeup trials for this reason and also because it
allows them to meet the makeup artist beforehand.
Not only are skills important, but also the artist’s
attitude. Do they pay attention to what you want? Are
they welcoming? On the wedding day stress levels
are high- you want someone who will relax you and
make you feel at ease whilst working on your face.
The attitude of an artist can tell you so much about
them. You want someone professional, punctual and
talented.
perfect pair, which ones would you recommend?
For lashes I would suggest Velour lashes – a cruelty
mink lash company. You can get styles from natural
to dramatic and due to the mink hair being so lightthe lashes feel weightless, an added bonus! They
have a really natural look too – even with more daring
styles because of the way they have been crafted. My
favourite lashes for brides are ‘T dot ooh’ ‘Lashaholic’.
Many women wear fake lashes for the first time
on their wedding, for those who haven’t found the

A big trend right now is eyeliner- thick, thin, double

important, but also the

winged, etc. Everyone is doing it! A few current lip
trends are ombre, glitter and colourful – lips can have
so many possibilities.

Breakouts are very common when stressed, is there
anything to prevent or clear them?
For breakouts I really recommend just flushing out the
system with water, trust me it really helps. Stay away
from anything fragranced and avoid wearing a lot of
makeup and only where needed, as this can clog up
pores. Also, eat healthy with lots of fluids!
What is your biggest makeup no-no?
For myself it has to be really unnatural and square
brows. I am obsessed with eyebrows and like them to
be really soft but defined; the whole black drawn on
brows is not for me.
Some people have the opinion that a bride has to be
heavily ‘made up’ to look the part, do you agree?
I don’t agree! It’s whatever the bride feels comfortable
in, it’s her day so should be completely her choice.
Some people just don’t suit heavily made up makeup
so a simple but elegant look is sometimes the best
way to go.

Saima
Interviewed by Muhaddisa Walji
Saima is a well known Youtuber, not only is she funny,
smart and an absolute joy to watch, she has inspired
many girls across the globe into modest fashion. Many
of you may also know she is married to her college
sweetheart, Tahell Miah. They both decided to tie the
knot on 8th September 2012.
We had the pleasure of having an exclusive interview
with her regarding her wedding and marriage life!

“Marriage seemed like the most
appropriate next step to take in
our relationship”
What age did you get married?
I got married when I was 18, fresh out of college!
What made you come to the decision of getting
married young?
My husband and I knew each other for around 2 years
and for us marriage seemed like the most appropriate
next step to take in our relationship. I think people put
too much pressure on an “age” to get married, but to
be honest you can get married at any age, so long as
you’re ready!
Please tell us about your wedding day, how did you
feel?
On the day I was extremely excited but also very
nervous, I had the butterflies! I kind of thought I was
going to cry at one point because it all felt so amazing
and overwhelming but I made it though without
messing up my mascara.
What is your husband’s best quality? I think it’s his
ability to make me laugh no matter what.
What do you both like to do together?
We’re both pretty boring when it comes to stuff like
this, we’ll literally order pizza and ice cream and watch
movie after movie, sometimes trying to guess the line
or making up voices.
What is your view on women being expected to carry
YPBD INTERVIEWS
out all the household duties? I honestly don’t agree
with that at all, marriage is a partnership, two people
coming together as a team, which means working
together as a team.
Is there anything about married life that you find
challenging?
I think at first it was slightly difficult getting used to
living with another person and sharing space but after
a while you adapt and it all works out.
Is married life fun and would you recommend tying
the knot at an early age?
I think marriage is one of those things that changes
person to person, personally I enjoy being married
and I was ready to get married at an early age but it all
depends on the individual. If someone were ready for
marriage at an early age then I’d say go for it!

What was the best thing that you remember from
your wedding?
We had a barbeque going on our wedding day which
was pretty fun, oh and my kitten got a little scared by all
the guests and pooped.
What is the one tip that you will give to all the newly
married brides? I think the tip that I’d give to anyone
that’s newly married is to prepare yourself for change
and be ready to adapt. You have to learn to live with
someone and all their little quirks.
Special thanks to...
