The fastest riders in the world are switching to Syntace! In order to obtain the full potential of your Syntace C2 Clip, please
read and follow the provided information.
Choosing the right size bar
A sizing gauge is provided on the bottom of the box (Pic 1). Note that there is some overlap between sizes. Note: We recommend that more experienced aerobar riders select the longer length.
Note: Please do not throw away the C2 Clip box. It is an important part of your aerobar and will be useful in the correct setup
and adjustment of your C2 Clip.
To Mount the C2 Clip onto dropstyle or bullhorn handlebars
Loosen the main clamps and remove both arms of the C2 Clip from the connector tube. Use the included 5mm Syntace hex
key, which fits all the bolts in your Syntace system. You may wish to keep this tool with your bike at all times.
Rule of thumb: Tighten black bolts with the short end of the hex key inserted (greater leverage). Yellow and silver bolts should
be tightened with the longer end of the hex key inserted (less leverage);
Pic 2
After removing the lower clamps and bolts, attach the left arm of your C2 Clip to your base handlebar, immediately left of the
stem. Reinstall the clamp and bolts, then tighten the clamp bolts progressively by alternately tightening each bolt one to two
turns until you begin to feel some tightening. Then, alternately tighten 1/4 turn per bolt until the specified torque setting of
10 Nm (90 lbf.in) is achieved. The upper and lower clamp faces should be parallel to each other.
Note: DO NOT mount the clamps on the tapered sections of your handlebar. A minimum of 20mm of continuous-diameter
bar is required on either side of your stem. This amount of continuous-diameter tubing is a standard feature on all Syntace
handlebars. Your C2 Clip will fit on all aerobar approved handlebars (ask your dealer or manufacturer) with diameters ranging
from 25.4mm to 26.8mm;

Pic 4
Pic 5
Attach the right arm in the same manner along the right side of the stem.
Note: The arms of your C2 Clip should be 36mm +- 5mm apart (when measured at the clamps), and equidistant from the
center of the stem. Generally, a position flush against the stem provides the best performance (Pic 2).
Adjustment of the aerobar and seat position
Note: Contrary to popular belief, the yo-yo serves here as a plumb-line during your installation! Of course, you can always use
it as a toy afterwards...
Aerobar Inclination:
- Open the box and thread the string of the provided yo-yo from the back of the box flap through the slot provided at
position #2. The string should exit where the crosshairs intersect (Pic 3).
- Press the long side of the box (with all the size and adjustment drawings on it) up against the lower side of your C2 Clip.
The yo-yo string will drop through the „protractor“ and indicate the angle of elevation. We recommend initial
inclination settings of 5° to 15° (Pic 4).
- Then test-ride your bike in a safe area and adjust the inclination to your taste. Mark this position on the box top
for future reference.
Saddle Position:
- Thread the yo-yo string through the slot in the box as you did for the handlebar inclination adjustment;
- Place the short side of the box (that lists the contents) on the top tube so that the cover faces out to the right side of
your bike. The flat panel with the installation information should touch the nose of your saddle (Pic 5);
- With your finger, slide the string forward or back along the 1-12 scale until it bisects the bottom bracket axle (Pic 6);
If the string is within the blue comfort zone, the saddle may not need to be moved. If your saddle position does not fall
within this range, we recommend that you gradually adjust the saddle until it enters or at least approaches the blue range.
If the initial variance is more than 15 or 20 millimeters, we recommend that the adjustment be made gradually over time,
giving your muscles opportunity to adjust to the modified position. Depending on the frame design, other equipment
may be necessary to achieve the desired position.
Note: This box-scale provides a recommended starting point, and reflects the design of the Syntace system. Our testing has
Pic 6
indicated that larger riders tend toward the rear of the scale, while smaller riders tend toward the front. Test ride your bike
in a safe area and make small, gradual adjustments (< 5mm) until you find your optimal position.
Allow yourself some time on the bike to adjust and optimize your position.
Seat height:
Lift your saddle slightly (about 3-8mm) up.
Saddle Inclination:
To further optimize your position, we recommend that you tip your saddle slightly downward (approximately 3°). As you
get more comfortable with your new position, you may also find it useful to lower your stem 5mm to 15mm, allowing a
deeper tucked position. Your C2 Clip is designed for use with your standard stem length in most cases.

Biowing Pad Adjustment:
The Biowing pads are attached to their sculpted bases with a hook-and-loop material. The distance between the pads is
easily adjusted from the bolts under the pads (Pic 7); a scale is provided on each shock-absorbing Biowing arm. Please be
careful not to over-tighten the bolts: the pad holders need only 3Nm (28 lbf.in) of torque to hold them firmly in place.
These can easily be tightened if you insert the long end of the hex key into the head of the bolt.
Note: We do not recommend extremely narrow pad placement since it may hamper your breathing and your ability to
effectively pull on the bar.
The Biowing pad holders are designed to provide comfortable hand position for upright riding. Their undersides are
ergonomically sculpted to fit your hand securely.
Mounting accessories to your C2 Clip
Syntace C2 Aerolink:
- Slightly loosen one arm of your C2 Clip. Gently spread the ends of your C2 Clip and place the Aerolink into the tubes so
that the logo faces forward;
- Alternately tighten each bolt until the Aerolink is flush with the tops of the bars. Again, 3Nm (28 lbf.in) is the
maximum torque allowable to prevent damage to the alloy nuts and bolts.
Note: A certain amount of tension is normal when the Aerolink has been installed, and actually contributes to the overall
rigidity an stability of your C2 Clip;
- Align your C2 Clip and re-tighten the clamps according to the installation instructions.
- The center section of the Aerolink is designed to accept most cycle computers. A longer wire, provided as an
accessory by some computer manufacturers, may be necessary.
Syntace Lifters:
- Place the Lifters between the upper clamps of your C2 Clip and the base handlebar.
- Grease the threads of the provided longer bolts. Insert them into the lower clamps and the Lifters, then thread them into
the upper clamps.
- As in your initial installation, alternately tighten each bolt until the flat surfaces of the clamps are parallel to each other.
Maximum torque is 10 Nm (90 lbf.in).
Computer Mount
Aeroshift
Syntace C2 Computer Mount:
- Grease the threads of the provided alloy bolt and screw it through the Computer Mount and into the threaded insert just
behind the first bend of the C2 Clip. The closed end of the Computer Mount is asymmetrically shaped so that the mount
will be at an approximate right angle to the centerline of the bicycle. Please do not over-tighten the screw.
Syntace Aeroshift:
- Remove the cover with the Syntace Aeroshift logo. Loosen the 5mm aluminum screw and slide both support wings out
of the body. Note that the wings have a semi-circular cutout and a roughened portion that should face upward.
- Test-fit the Aeroshift by sliding the wings into the Aeroshift body and fitting it between the loosened arms of the C2 Clip
at the level of the inserted bosses.
- Loosen one arm of the C2 Clip. With the provided screws and washers, attach the wings to the threaded bosses. Be sure
not to over tighten; also be sure that the wings point straight at each other.
- Slide the main body of the Aeroshift onto the wing that is attached to the secure arm of the C2 Clip. Slide the remaining
arm/wing combo into the Aeroshift body. Do not yet tighten the central Aeroshift screw.
- Re-attach the loose C2 Clip arm to the base bar and tighten. If you are using a Syntace Aerolink, install it now. Make
sure that the C2 Clip‘s arms are parallel to each other.
- Once the Syntace C2 Clip and Aerolink are properly tightened, you may gently tighten the central Aeroshift screw. Do not
over-tighten this screw.
- Attach the shift levers to the bosses on the Aeroshift. Some spring-loaded front shift levers will be easier to install if you
pre¬load them by turning the shift lever hub counter-clockwise before assembly.
Note: Some shift levers are supplied with flat boss covers - in this the case, you will need to obtain the traditional, curved
type for use on your Aeroshift.
- Trim the shift cables and housing as needed, then grind or file the ends flat. Spare end-caps are provided.- If needed,
attach the cable stoppers to the downtube shifter bosses. For frames that require flat boss covers, there are markings on
the stoppers that indicate how much material to remove for a proper fit.
- Install the inner cables and adjust the derailleurs normally. Note that the adjusting barrels are built into both cable exit
ports of the Aeroshift.

Maintenance and safety
Proper basic maintenance will assure you of long, reliable performance from your Syntace products. Please follow these
simple steps to take care of your system:
- Routinely check the insides of your Syntace bars for moisture and remove any that is found.
- Routinely check the bolts for tightness. We recommend that they be lubricated and re-tightened to specified torque
levels during these inspections.
- Inspect the bars for any signs of fatigue or stress. Immediately notify your Dealer or Syntace of any problems.
- If the Syntace C2 Clip is bent as the result of an accident, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO STRAIGHTEN THE ARMS. Contact your
dealer or Syntace to arrange immediate replacement.
- As with all new products, we suggest that you take the time to become accustomed to your new Syntace products.
We recommend that you test ride them in safe riding areas until you are completely familiar with their operation, and
your body has become accustomed to any changes in position.
- The Biowing pads may be gently washed in lukewarm water and mild detergent. The pads should not be exposed to
temperatures over 158° Fahrenheit (70° Celsius), and should be kept out of direct sunlight. Note that closed automobiles
in warm weather can easily reach these temperatures!
- Remove the pads if the bicycle is to be transported on an external rack, and do not squash them for long periods of time.
Crash replacement
If your Syntace product is damaged as the result of any kind of accident, Syntace will arrange an immediate replacement
for you at current wholesale price.
