Additional horsepower creates more stress on the drivetrain components, which could result in drivetrain failure. Note: Legal in California only for racing vehicles which may never be used on the highway. This agreement sets forth the terms and conditions for the use of this product. The installation of this product indicates that the Buyer has read and understands this agreement and accepts the terms and conditions. Pacific Performance Engineering Inc., its distributors, employees, and dealers (the “Seller”) shall not be responsible for the product’s proper use and service. The buyer hereby waives all liability claims. The Buyer hereby acknowledges no reliance on the Sellers skill or judgment to select or furnish goods suitable for any particular purpose and that there are no liabilities which extend beyond the description on the face hereof, and the Buyer hereby waives all remedies or liabilities expressed or implied, arising by law or otherwise (including without any obligation of the Seller with respect to fitness, merchantability and consequential damages), or whether or not occasioned by the Seller’s negligence. The Seller disclaims any warranty and expressly disclaims any liability for personal injury or damages. The Buyer acknowledges and agrees that the disclaimer of any liability for personal injury is a material term for this agreement and the Buyer agrees to indemnify the Seller and to hold the Seller harmless from any claim related to the item of equipment purchased. Under no circumstances will the Seller be liable for any damages or expenses by reason of use or sale of any such equipment.The Seller assumes no liability regarding the improper installation or misapplication of its products. It is the installer’s responsibility to check for proper installation and if in doubt contact the manufacturer. The Buyer is solely responsible for all warranty issues from the manufacturer. LIMITATION OF WARRANTY The Seller gives Limited Warranty as to description, quality, merchantability, and fitness for a particular purpose, productiveness, or any other matter of Seller’s product sold herewith. The Seller shall not be responsible for the products proper use and service and the Buyer hereby waives all rights other than those expressly written herein. This warranty shall not be extended, altered or varied except by a written instrument signed by Seller and Buyer. The Warranty is limited to two (2) years from the date of sale and limited solely to the parts contained within the products kit. All products that are in question of Warranty must be returned prepaid to the Seller and must be accompanied by a dated proof of purchase receipt. All Warranty claims are subject to approval by Seller. Under no circumstances will the Seller be liable for any labor charged or travel time incurred in diagnosis for defects, removal, or reinstallation of this product or any other contingent expenses. Under no circumstances will the Seller be liable for any damage or expenses incurred by reason of the use or sale of any such equipment. In the event that the buyer does not agree with this agreement: the buyer may promptly return this product, in a new and unused condition in its original packaging, with a dated proof of purchase to the place of purchase within ten (10) days from date of purchase for a full refund. The installation of this product indicates that the buyer has read and understands this agreement and accepts its terms and conditions. 2 5R110W Shift Kit Before installing upgrades checking pressures will require a 600 lb gauge. Very common for this transmission to have a high line pressure error, up around 450 lbs, especially in reverse with throttle ON. Sooner or later this will blow off Low Reverse snap ring lugs, destroying the case. The Shift Kit has upgrades that brings pressure to safe specs, plus a tougher L/R snap ring. Converter clutch control Retainer No change Bushing A) There are a few types of converter regulator valves. Measure the inboard land. With .400 land use yellow spring. With .297 use blue spring. Any other size reuse original spring. Yellow Converter regulator Blue No change PR Valve - Main Regulator B) White Discard original PR spring and end plug. New PC limit C) Pressure control assembly. Insert the ball into the bore. Compress Orange spring with the small end paper clip. Install cotter pin and spreads legs. Remove the paper clip with pliers. PC limit Cotter pin Orange Ball Tech Tip: The pressure control limit reduces case lug blow out by preventing runaway reverse pressure. Max reserve pressure without this fix is at 450 psi. With this kit it will be about 320 psi. Along with the stronger snap ring it is fixed. 4 5R110W Shift Kit Case lug and low reverse snap ring blow out. If the trans came in with no Revers or Slip in Reverse, this is the first thing to look at to see if you will need a new case. Snap Ring Ends 400% tougher snap ring is the shift kit. “A” pan side Install the Hi-Tension Low Reverse Snap Ring with the ends towards the top of the case, opposite the pan. Pan Side“A” . These are the two lugs that break off. If they’re broken off, a new case is needed. If they are angle worn but still there then the tougher snap ring will save the case. 5 5R110W Shift Kit *1 8 2 9 *3 10 4 *11 *5 12 6 13 Manual valve *7 Early valve bodies contained 5 pressure switches that were never used nor monitored by the computer. In later valve bodies the holes and the switches were removed with the exception of the Direct Clutch with retained the hole with a plastic dummy plug installed. It is common during the extreme pressure that breaks the low reserve lugs out of the case to also damage the switched or a dummy plug, particularly the direct clutch dummy plug. Carefully inspect them to avoid a problem. Squeeze ends of the retainer to provide a snug fit on the plug. 6 New pressure switch plug with o-ring installed. 5R110W Shift Kit One new aluminum plug and o-ring are provided in case you need it and will replace wither a switch or a dummy plug. Wire tie the loose wire connector to the harness if replacing a pressure switch. It is important to make sure the clip grabs the plug snuggly to prevent blowout. Always squeeze the clip ends enough to provide a good grab on the plug. Additional plugs are available separately. Solenoids & Switches *Pressure switches not used on all models. No movement after repair can be mismatch of pump half ’s wear plate. Pump was redesigned in 2005. Complete pumps can be swapped between years but mixing parts between pumps can create a no move condition. Pump half ’s & wear plate must match. 2003-2004 type casting pump body code 3C3P Two slots here 2003-2004 type and stator RF3C3P match plate with two clots inside circle. No slots here Casting #RF5C3P 9 5R110W Shift Kit Warning: Always measure the pressure regulator valve diameter before installing the pump parts furnished in our kit. Our parts fit only a stock PR valve and bushing bore of approximately .728 in diameter. If your pump had been rebuilt there is a chance the PR valve bore has been bored larger to accommodate a new larger valve and bushing. If your valve and bushing is larger in diameter than .728 then do not use our kit, it was not engineered to work with larger parts.
