Urgent Care - Park Nicollet
Urgent Care: An Old Concept in the New Millennium November 10–11, 2016 Location Naegele Auditorium Park Nicollet Clinic & Specialty Center St. Louis Park, Minnesota (View map and directions) Audience This program is designed for primary care physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners. Nurses and other members of the care team may also find it beneficial. Conference overview The growth and development of urgent care medicine has increased over the last 3 decades due to frustration over long waits in emergency centers for non-emergency care and in primary care clinics for physician appointments. Patients are seeking more convenient and affordable health care options due to high-deductible health plans and increased out-of-pocket expenses. With more than 6,900 urgent care centers or clinics now open in the United States, urgent care clinicians see between 71 and 160 million patient visits each year. As clinicians on the “front lines” of medicine, urgent care clinicians need to be proficient in evaluating and caring for any patient who walks into an urgent care center or clinic. To respond quickly and definitively in urgent situations, urgent care clinicians also need to enhance their critical-care thinking and decision-making skills. Urgent Care: An Old Concept in the New Millennium will educate clinicians on current best practices for outpatient triage of acute and chronic illness and injury, and complex or unusual conditions. Experts will present practical information via lectures and small group workshops. Educational objectives Following this learning activity, participants will be able to: Apply evidence-based strategies in diagnosing and managing common medical conditions seen in urgent care Manage patients successfully using efficient triage to guide treatment orders Discuss current best practices for outpatient triage of acute and chronic illness and injury, and complex or unusual conditions Cost/registration Registration includes breakfast, lunch and refreshments. Presentations will be available for download from the conference website.
