Enter Ruakuri Cave through the spectacular 'Spiral
Entrance'. Tread narrow corridors, stand in vast caverns
and hear the distant thunder of subterranean waterfalls.
The crystal tapestries and glowworms up close will
astound you.
Then in Aranui Cave, see the finest and most delicate
formations of all the caves in Waitomo. The high
chambers, magnificent limestone formations and
brown, pink and white shades of the huge stalactites
are truly spectacular.
You will spend 45 minutes in the Waitomo Glowworm Cave and
approximately 2 hours on your Ruakuri Adventure. Allow 3 hours.
You will spend 45 minutes in the Waitomo Glowworm Cave and
45 minutes in Aranui Cave. Allow 2 hours.
You will spend 45 minutes in the Waitomo Glowworm Cave,

Ruapehu are a mere 2 hours from Waitomo.

With such a wide variety of cave experiences (as well
as picturesque walks, a natural bridge and waterfalls),
it’s important that you allow yourself enough time to
explore. You’ll need half a day to visit Waitomo – but we’d
recommend spending a night or two so that you can fully
immerse yourself in our amazing village.

TOUR TIMES
Waitomo Glowworm Cave (45 mins): Daily tours every 1/2 hour
from 9am - 5pm. From Oct 31 – Easter Monday there is also a
5.30pm tour. 26 Dec - 28 Feb there is an additional tour at 8pm.
Christmas Day last tour 4pm.
Aranui Cave (45 mins): Daily tours at 10am, 11am, 1pm, 2pm and
3pm. Closed Christmas Day.
Ruakuri Cave (Allow 2 hours): Daily tours at 9am, 10am, 11.30am,
12.30pm, 1.30pm, 2.30pm and 3.30pm. Closed Christmas Day.
TOUR INFORMATION
Bookings are recommended.
 Tours depart from the ticket office, 39 Waitomo Caves Road.
 Caves are suitable for all ages.
Ruakuri Cave is wheelchair friendly.
Photography is permitted in Ruakuri and Aranui Caves,
but not in the Waitomo Glowworm Cave.
 Bring comfortable walking shoes and a warm jacket.
