Violeta is a concert-cabaret of people who feel like spending good moments together.
Seven acrobats in love with Venancio y los Jóvenes de Antaño’s live music and five musicians blown away by
acrobats, who come from circus schools from all over the world: Brussels, Lima, London, Barcelona...
Our story started because we wanted to create a show with a very big team.
It is not difficult to see that in the current context there is a tendency to
reduce the number of members in companies. Nowadays, a company with
four acrobats is considered to be a big one. We really feel like being part of a
big company. That is the challenge.
The project was finally conceived when we went to a concert of Venancio y los
Jóvenes de Antaño: their music was a total inspiration for the images and the
scenes that we would create later.
Part of the challenge is also to arrange schedules with twelve people
and to find spaces where we can create a show of a considerable magnitude.
Our tactics have been to make the project grow and at the same time to look
for spaces to show every single moment of its creation . Thus, we have
performed in “Circ a les places”, Olot and in “Circorts”, Barcelona.
The collective La Persiana is formed by 7 artists and 5 musicians and it includes
some small companies like Cia. Vol de Ment (Russian cradle), Hotel iocandi
(acrobatic ladder and static trapeze) and En Diciembre (cyr wheel and Chinese
pole).
...that place, a place where life is lived with no simulations...dancing, playing,
singing, drawing stories....Tales of people who don’t feign, they simply are.
Maybe it is not even a place, maybe it is just a simple memory. We can’t go to
places whenever we want to, but we can bring back memories by just closing
our eyes... Then we can forget our problems and let them go.
What about creating a common memory? So, here we are, you and me
remembering a look, a smell, a smile... and together we’ll travel away...Are
there any limits? Who knows...and if there are, we will find them together...”
Aerial catcher trained at the superior
school of Circus Arts of Brussels (ESAC). He created his own company Cie. Irracionel
and he has participated in different circus shows such as “Rodó”, directed by
Leandre Ribera and Teresa Celis (This show won the Culture National award),
“Homeland” directed by Roberto Oliván, Circ Cric and Cirque Hirsute in France.
Hand to hand catcher trained at
ESAC (Brussels) and Russian cradle catcher trained by Joan Ramon Graell Gabriel and
Yuri Sakalov. He has created his own company Vol de-Ment with Amanda Delgado. He
has participated in different shows and circus festivals around Europe such as Les
hommes Infames, “Taïteul” , Scabreuse Company (reprise), Exit 10, Hopla! and Le
Ballet Manchot (Cubitus du Manchot)
BA in Dramatic Arts. She studied voice
at L’Aula del Liceu (Barcelona) and clown with Christian Atanasius and Diego
Mauriño. She has created her own circus company Vol de-Ment with Jordi Serra and
the theatre company La Nevera. She has been part of circus companies such as:
“Los2play” “Pakipaya” (international tours) and theatre projects performed at
Teatre Lliure de Barcelona, Festival Grec, Nacional de Murcia...
She was trained as a trapeze artist at
The Circus Space, London and in Rogelio Rivel, Barcelona. She has completed her
education with theatre and acrobatic courses with renowned teachers in Barcelona
and London. She has performed in several festivals and corporate events with her
trapeze piece and she has founded the circus company Hotel iocandi with Tomeu
Amer. They first short piece “Esquerdes” has been selected for the European project
“Camins Emergents” 2014.
After studying theatre for more than
six years, he joined the professional formation in Rogelio Rivel Circus school where he
specialized in acrobatic ladder. He is part of Cia. Neo-Rural and Cia. Trifaldó (Fira de
Tàrrega, Trapezi Reus, and European tour: Holland, France). He has created his own
company Hotel iocandi with Griselda Juncà, and now they are creating their first long
show. He has also a large experience as an actor: 28 ½ and Cercle de guix caucasià
directed by Oriol Broggi, L’Odissea directed by Pere Fullana or Història Robada.
She has created her own company Estropicio
with Ruth Gascón (Their double trapeze piece “Conxita y Merceditas” was selected
for the European project Cirque o!). With the same company she created the show
“Torcidos” (nominated as Revelation Company at Zirkolika Awards).
She was trained as a trapeze catcher at the
professional circus school La Tarumba (Lima-Perú). In 2012 she created the circus
company Les Capgirades together with Ester Panés. With their first piece “Crim
contra rellotge” they performed at Fira Trapezi Reus, Festival Internacional de
Circo Rio de Janeiro and they also won the IV Certamen de Calle de Jóvenes
Artistas (Málaga). They have also performed at Pisteurs d’Etoiles (Strasbourg) and
Festival Grec (Barcelona). They were nominated at Zirkolika awards 2012.
He has specialized in Chinese pole at the school
The Circus Space in London. He has worked with the company Acuamagics, Circo
Gran Fele (in Spain, Cuba and at the XII Festival Iberoamericano de Teatro de
Bogotá). He has been part of the company Atempo Circ with “Learning, beginning
to lose”.
He has studied at Conservatori Municipal de
Barcelona, voice with Errol Woyzki and Mariona Castelar. Among some of his
projects he has a duo with the pianist Sergi Sirvent and he sings with Un gorrión
sentimental. He has also been part of Nenê Gandaia and The Swingin’ Fruphones.
With these groups he has performed at Teatre Grec, el Jamboree, Cicle Música als
Parcs and Festival Internacional de Mostar (Bosnia).
BA in classic Guitar at Liceu, Barcelona. He
has also studied modern harmony and flamenco guitar at Taller de Músics,
Barcelona. He has worked as studio musician and composer with Blanco y Negro
“Alma Chill Out Flamenco” and for Metropol in “80 Chill Out”. He has played with
Costo Rico during 6 years touring around Europe and South America. Nowadays he
is a member of Wadalupe and he teaches for Departament d’Ensenyament de la
Generalitat
de
Catalunya.
He started his trumpet studies in Tenerife
with José León Medrano, and modern harmony and improvisation with Juan Carlos
León. In Barcelona he has taken classes with Juan de Diego, Mathew Simon and
David Pastor. He has collaborated with La Original Jazz Orchestra del Taller de
Músics, Lou Batteri and La SucursalS.A. He is a member of Jove Big Band del Taller de
Músics, Planeta Imaginario, El Cateto Opuesto and Down Home Orkestra.
He studied musical language and harmony
at Taller de Músics in Barcelona, drums with Alcides Trindade and percussion with
Vicenç Soler, Lluís Molas and Sergio Ramos. Currently he is studying the BA at Liceu
in Barcelona. He has been a member of Costo Rico for 3 years, touring around
Europe, and he has also played with Wadalupe, Flowpots, Amar Mendé and Coetus. He
has collaborated with Macedònia, Discípulos de Otilia and Estopa albums.
He
studied
bass
at
Aula
del
Conservatori del Liceu (Barcelona). In 2007 he got a scholarship to study at the
Berklee School (USA). Currently he plays the bass with Guillamino, Wadalupe, Planeta
Lem and Mar Abella. He has been a member of Macedònia and part of the musical
Grease, with more than 400 shows around Spain. He has also collaborated with
Manu Guix, Toni Pagès, La Carrau, Ganga Vibes (Morocco), Yacine and Nenê Gandaia.
