Father Christmas will also be visiting Newbury on 4 - 6 December, Parkway and 12 & 13 December, Kennet Centre, and then from 17 – 23 December in his Parkway Grotto. Thursday 17 December is the next main date for your diary as late night shopping is back with festive entertainment, (look out for the very special three wise men), and the very popular Choir of 1,000 Voices. The roads will be closed until 9pm ensuring a car-free pedestrianised area, so you can enjoy the street entertainment and soak up the festive atmosphere. Shoppers can also take advantage of FREE car parking (5pm – 9pm) on this evening. (Parkway, Kennet Centre and Northbrook multi-storey car parks). From midday the streets will be alive with children’s rides and festive market stalls courtesy of Newbury Charter market. Then as we head into the evening ensure you look out for the three wise men, and take time to listen to the many choirs that will be singing around the town. 10 Park for free between 5pm-9pm on this evening (Parkway, Kennet Centre and Northbrook multi-storey car parks). 1,000 Voices, Newbury’s festive “big sing along” supported by Hogan Music, will be the rousing finale to this festive day as we gather around the Christmas tree to sing some well-known carols and Christmas songs, guaranteed to make you smile and get you in the Christmas mood! Turn left just past the Mercedes Dealership at the traffic lights in to Faraday Road, and continue to the end of the road to access Newbury Football Club Car Park. From here it is a 5-minute scenic walk to reach the town centre and Christmas Market in Victoria Park. Alternatively proceed along the A4 to the Robin Hood roundabout and follow directions as above from M4.
