O
ur 2014–15 season is most certainly our most dynamic to date.
We will be adding some wonderful new concert venues, a
brand new period orchestra in residence, and nine exciting new
programs. In addition to our season-long residency at the South
Miami Dade Cultural Arts Center, our Dade-County venues will also
see some significant changes. In October, we will open our season
in Coral Gables in the excellent, reverberant acoustic of St. Philip’s
Episcopal Church. November will see a partnership with the
University of Miami School of Music’s Festival Miami at Gusman
Hall on UM’s campus. Our annual Messiah performance will be
held in the newly renovated, superb acoustic of Trinity Episcopal
Cathedral, and our February and April masterworks programs will
be presented in the grand, historic sanctuary of the Miami Shores
Presbyterian Church.
Additionally, in a first-of-its-kind national collaboration, the singers
of Seraphic Fire will perform four programs with New York City-based
period instrument orchestra, The Sebastians, South Florida’s first ever
resident Baroque orchestra. Performing on original instruments, The
Sebastians have been praised for their “energetic, youthful, vigorous
performing style” by The New York Times, and proclaimed “immaculate
in tuning and balance” by Early Music Today.
Each concert next season has been created to both challenge and
inspire, to excite emotion and to stir the soul. I hope you join us as an
active participant on this musical journey, for without your ears, our
performances are in vain. Thank you, and I look forward to seeing you
in the audience.

“How can I keep from singing?” The refreshing simplicity of these
powerful words has influenced a generation of young American
composers. No longer writing in an academic style, the new guard of
American composition harnesses the lush, powerful, uplifting message
of America’s folk heritage. Seraphic Fire opens its 13th season with a
glorious tribute to America’s roots featuring music by Jake Runestad,
Morten Lauridsen, Colin Britt, and Shawn Crouch. October 15, 2014

Antonio Vivaldi: composer, virtuoso, firebrand, genius. Known as the
Red Priest by his contemporaries, Vivaldi’s music has triumphed
throughout the centuries, captivating audiences for over 300 years. The
brilliant singers of Seraphic Fire present Vivaldi’s choral masterpiece,
the Gloria, in collaboration with The Sebastians, a New York-based
period orchestra praised for their “energetic, youthful, vigorous

HANDEL: MESSIAH
The most popular piece of Classical music has rendered audiences
speechless since its 1743 sold-out debut. Anchored by the thunderous
“Hallelujah Chorus,” Handel’s Messiah is a pillar of Western Music – an
indisputable masterpiece that must be experienced live. Seraphic Fire
concludes a month of holiday favorites with Handel’s magnum opus.
This concert has sold-out every year it has been presented, and only
subscribers will receive advance access to seats. Subscribe today to
witness this jewel of the choral-orchestral repertoire.

GREGORIAN CHANT: MISERERE
HAYDN: LORD NELSON MASS
Join Seraphic Fire on a journey to the birthplace of Western Music. You
will be transported to another world by the mesmerizing cadence of
ancient Latin, paired with the undulating melodies which once rang
through 11th Century monasteries. Performed by candlelight and
featuring unique staging, this immersive concert experience is not to
be missed.
The Lord Nelson Mass has been lauded as “arguably Haydn’s greatest
single composition,” by the master’s chief biographer. The profound
majesty of this monumental work is a highlight of the Classical era and
influenced, among others, the music of Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert,
and Brahms. The Nelson Mass will be sung by the expert voices of
Seraphic Fire, and, for the first time in Florida, be performed on
original Classical instruments by The Sebastians period orchestra.

no other composers, were able capture a spiritual depth and
