Conference Objective
The 32nd Annual Primary Care Update is planned
for physicians with emphasis on problems
encountered by the primary care practitioner on a
daily basis. The goal of this conference is to enhance
the knowledge of primary care providers, thereby
improving patient care outcomes. Participants in this
program will become aware of new updates in family
medicine, pediatrics, internal medicine, psychiatry,
obstetrics and gynecology and medical/legal issues.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this program, participants
should be able to:
• Describe appropriate patient assessment for
treatment with ER/LA opioid analgesics, evaluating
risks and potential benefits of ER/LA therapy as
well as possible misuse.
• Discuss the implementation of ICD-10 and its
affect on daily practice.
• List the nine essential nutrients that are required for
good bone formation and then discuss the kind of
diet or supplementation regime needed to get these
nutrients each day throughout the human life span.
• Identify the current substances and methods of
abuse used for illegal performance enhancement in
the general population and athletes of all ages and
levels of competition.
• Recognize that the evaluations, diagnoses and
treatments that occur in the clinic can significantly
affect the patient’s occupational life outside the clinic.
• Demonstrate how to use teams to achieve advanced
primary care.
• Review the impact of ICD-10 coding changes on
OMM in the office setting
• Identify key age-related differences in disease
presentation and/or treatment that are unique to
the elderly.
• Explain the interrelationships among the various
cardiometabolic risk factors, their impact on
cardiovascular health and their common
comorbidities.
• Examine the new clinical practice guidelines for
Pre-exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) to prevent HIV
infection.
• Discuss the impact of weight bias and stigma on the
patient experience and health care access.
• Analyze the application of chromoendoscopy in the
detection of dysplasia and neoplasia of the tubular
digestive track.
