The goal of this conference is to enhance the knowledge of primary care providers, thereby improving patient care outcomes. Participants in this program will become aware of new updates in family medicine, pediatrics, internal medicine, psychiatry, obstetrics and gynecology and medical/legal issues. Learning Objectives At the conclusion of this program, participants should be able to: • Describe appropriate patient assessment for treatment with ER/LA opioid analgesics, evaluating risks and potential benefits of ER/LA therapy as well as possible misuse. • Discuss the implementation of ICD-10 and its affect on daily practice. • List the nine essential nutrients that are required for good bone formation and then discuss the kind of diet or supplementation regime needed to get these nutrients each day throughout the human life span. • Identify the current substances and methods of abuse used for illegal performance enhancement in the general population and athletes of all ages and levels of competition. • Recognize that the evaluations, diagnoses and treatments that occur in the clinic can significantly affect the patient’s occupational life outside the clinic. • Demonstrate how to use teams to achieve advanced primary care. • Review the impact of ICD-10 coding changes on OMM in the office setting • Identify key age-related differences in disease presentation and/or treatment that are unique to the elderly. • Explain the interrelationships among the various cardiometabolic risk factors, their impact on cardiovascular health and their common comorbidities. • Examine the new clinical practice guidelines for Pre-exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) to prevent HIV infection. • Discuss the impact of weight bias and stigma on the patient experience and health care access. • Analyze the application of chromoendoscopy in the detection of dysplasia and neoplasia of the tubular digestive track.
