The hungry market
Chimney & Splay presents
CHIMNEY FUTURE
ARE YOUTUBE STARS THE FUTURE OF THE
ENTERTAINMENT BUSINESS?
Never in history has film production been as big as it is now. We seem
to never have enough, the market appearing insatiable. How will the
future of production, distribution and cashflow look? Who will succeed
in making money?
Money and quality
The million dollar question is on financing. Will there even be anyone
willing to produce quality content in the future? Free distribution and
world rights make this question relevant. What new sources of financing
are out there for us?
In the 80s, home video was the new "threat" to cinema. Today, global
companies like Netflix and young YouTube stars are shaking things up for
cinema and TV. How will the future of entertainment be affected?
Participants: I Just Want To Be Cool, Malvin Studios, Eric Broberg (Buena
Vista/Disney) Pia Grünler (SF Studios), Tomas Michaelsson (Filmlance),
Johanna Bergenstråhle (TV4), Pelle Strandberg (Kung Fury), Abbe Hassan
(Indian Summer Films), Viktor Linell (SPLAY), Taylor Moore (Kickstarter)
etc.
Moderator: Henric Larsson Chimney
Location: Scandic Grand - Markurells (Thu) Scandic Elvy (Fri)
1 SEPTEMBER 10.00-13.00
The new punk rockers - and their impact on cinema and
television
Today's YouTube stars are reminiscent of the punk rockers of the 70s.
They do their own thing, produce their content in their basements and
release it at their own leisure, without a giant marketing machine having
their backs. Who are they? And in which way will they impact the creative process, budgeting, and financing of TV and movies in the future?
What's the cost of good content?
Run-through of typical production costs for TV, film and documentaries.
