Guidelines
NETan
Television
n NET Television is non-commercial, and our underwriting
guidelines help protect our non-commercial identity. Our viewers’
expectations for quality and their trust in the integrity of our
programming extends to NET Television underwriters.
• An underwriting announcement on NET Television should begin
with a graphic, logo or language that identifies the funder.
For example: “Programming made possible in part by…”
• Underwriting spots may be 15 or 30 seconds long.
Simple messages are more memorable and effective.
Audio should be neutral and low key.
• The underwriting announcement identifies or describes your
company or organization.
Do not use language that is:
• Qualitative or comparative
For example: “Our service is faster than….”
• Superlative
For example: “We are the best/oldest/newest/most convenient…”
• Promotional in content or tone
• Your underwriting announcement should not include:
• Price information or inducements to buy
• A call to action
For example: “Call now/join now/stop by this week…”
Examples are available upon request.
NET reserves the right to approve scripts prior to production.

Award-winning Children’s Programs
n NET Television offers children a front row seat for
the best in television. Three generations of children
have grown up with award-winning programs
such as Sesame Street, Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood
and Reading Rainbow, an Emmy-winning national
program.
Many underwriters are interested in reaching
Nebraska’s growing Latino population. NET reaches
this demographic through Spanish language
programming, ranging from Clifford The Big Red
Dog, Dragon Tales and Maya & Miguel for children
to GED instruction and Countdown to College for
adolescents and adults.
Parents trust NET Television to air non-commercial
programs that educate and entertain children with
characters like Big Bird, Clifford the Big Red Dog,
Barney and Arthur, who are almost part of the
family. If your organization wants to partner with a
nationally recognized, award-winning organization,
here’s your opportunity:
• PBS KIDS is the #1 children’s media brand among
parents of children 2-11 years old.
• 6 of the top 10 television programs for children
ages 2-5 come from public television.
• 2 of the most-watched series for children age 2-11
are produced by public television.
• www.pbskids.org averages more than 130 million
page views per month!
NET’s daily children’s programming, services
like the Nebraska Studies Web site (www.
nebraskastudies.org) and production of interactive
media and other educational materials distributed
nationally, all demonstrate NET’s commitment to
children and education in Nebraska and beyond.
NET: Education is our middle name!
Hometown Pride and High School Sports
n Nebraskans love their sports, and hometown
pride runs especially strong with high school
sports. Whether it’s rodeo, basketball, volleyball,
swimming, wrestling or football, high school sports
fans follow their athletes in huge numbers. With
NET’s knowledgeable commentators and experienced
production staff, our viewers may have a better
perspective than people in the stands.
NET offers coverage of
key championships and
all-star events sanctioned
by the Nebraska School
Activities Association and
the Nebraska High School
Rodeo Association in the
following high school sports:
Basketball Swimming
Football and Diving

year to cover live sports and other events. In addition
to state championships, NET also broadcasts special
all-star events such as the Shrine Bowl and West
Nebraska All-Star Football. Research shows that high
school sports draws some of the largest numbers of
NET television viewers.
In addition to superior television broadcasts, our high
school sports package is also available world wide
through audio and video streaming online. Enhanced
Web pages feature profiles of athletes, rules of the
sport, statistics and historical features.
Partnering with NET Television is a win-win proposition for your organization.
NET Television: Forging Community Connections
NET’s radio and television networks are
the only broadcast media covering the entire state.
Local Documentaries
For more than 50 years NET Television has helped
bring hundreds of Nebraska voices to life, telling
the stories and celebrating the achievements of
people like Pulitzer Prize-winning authors Willa
Cather and Ted Kooser; Omaha’s founding families;
the patriot citizens of North Platte during World
War II; and contemporary nature photographer
Joel Sartore. We’ve also captured the beauty of
Nebraska for all to see – from the amazing spectacle
of the Sandhill cranes to the rolling plains of the
Oregon Trail to Seward’s small-town Fourth of July
celebration. As we move into the future, expect us
to continue to share Nebraska’s compelling history
and inspirational stories as we spotlight the people
and places of our great state.
BIG RED WRAP-UP
Big Red Wrap-Up gives Husker football fans a
lively recap of each football game, including
highlights, analysis, special guests, the latest
recruiting news and special background
segments. Hosts Kevin Kugler and Adrian Fiala
also field calls and e-mails from viewers.
BACKYARD FARMER
Produced in cooperation with the University of
Nebraska, Backyard Farmer airs live each week
during the gardening season. A rotating panel of
experts offers gardening and turf strategies and
answers questions via phone and e-mail from
gardeners across the state.
Nebraska Connects
The Nebraska Connects series taps the power
of these networks, providing a unique forum to
encourage public dialogue and inspire community
involvement on such varied issues as our state’s
aging population, obesity, crime and justice, family
violence, foreign trade, gambling, immigration,
college planning, taxes and water resources.
In collaboration with community organizations,
Nebraska Connects supplements television and
radio programming with face-to-face forums, panels
of experts fielding phone and e-mail questions
from viewers and listeners and online resources.
Nebraska Connects is a unique series made by
Nebraskans, for Nebraskans, about Nebraskans.
