Vale Bridgecraft Show Centres are unlike other retail outlets because they provide a
relaxing, unpressured environment, where, after enjoying a cup of tea, you can spend
as long as you need, trying all the sofas and chairs, ensuring that you select the most
comfortable option.
Our wide range of designs are also available in different ‘sits’ and sizes and a choice of
cushion filling. All these options can be considered in the Show Centre whilst our expert
advisors guide you through the process.
Once you’ve selected your most comfortable and stylish choice of sofas and chairs you
can then make the upholstery fabric choice. In each of our Show Centres we provide
thousands of fabric options, many of which are exclusive to us, and all having passed
strenuous rub tests for domestic use. The beautiful fabrics range from stunning linens,
velvets and chenille’s in every shade, through heritage stripes and patterns to woven
brocades in the most luxurious finishes.

Vale Bridgecraft combined have been making exceptional sofas and chairs in our
workshop near Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire, for over 100 years. The area is famous
for its skills in joinery and textiles and has a long established heritage in fine furniture
making. Our village here in the Calder valley is surrounded by beautiful countryside,
wooded dales and open moors, the culture and ambience of the place creating the
perfect environment for the making of elegant, long-lasting furniture.

Every piece of furniture we make requires extensive handcrafting and an expert attention to detail. Throughout the process
traditional skills are used to ensure the level of enduring quality
that is worthy of the Vale Bridgecraft name.
Inspired designs
All our furniture designs are original; entirely developed and
created by us to offer a wide range of styles, encompassing both
heritage charm and contemporary living. The guiding principle of
our designers is furniture that makes a stunning impression but is
always combined with absolute comfort. Getting this harmony just
right reflects our “over a century’s worth” of experience in great
British furniture making.
Frames, springing and ideal support
The designs are brought to life though hand-built frames of solid
beech and birch wood, sourced from FSC and PEFC managed
forests. Generously, well-constructed frames, with double dowels
and screws, provides the ideal foundation for the reinforced, full
steel coil springing in the seat. It’s this superior combination that
lets us give all our furniture a 25 year frame and spring guarantee.
With the springing in place we then use superior modern
materials, including high-resilience foam and felts, to produce the
form of each style. Cushions are made from either luxurious, soft
fibre or ultra- durable foam, for supportive but relaxing comfort.

Exceptional fabrics…
Our fabric collections include literally thousands of choices, many of them
produced exclusively for us by carefully chosen, specialist fabric makers from
around the world. We offer unique designs in hundreds of colourways, patterns,
textures and finishes. Choose from traditional, classic or contemporary looks to
ideally suit your home and personal taste. You can browse the extensive selection
at length is in any of our Show Centres.
…and an impeccable finish
All the covers of our furniture are fashioned and finished in our own sewing
rooms, continuing a long tradition of expert seamstress skills to produce generous,
reinforced seams and luxurious fitted covers. Time-served upholsterers fit the covers
to the padded frames, slowly and with great care to best present the pleats, curves
and ruched details that give Vale Bridgecraft furniture its distinctive appearance.
Made just for you
Within this brochure you will find almost all of our available ranges and a very
representative guide to the many styles, detailed options and sizes (large, standard
and petite) that we offer. The extensive and flexible combinations we can provide
allow you to specify Vale Bridgecraft’s superbly made furniture to suit your personal
taste and preference to perfection.

Roma

Our Roma range offers the traditional build quality and comfort levels expected of Vale products but with a
modern edge to the design. The lovely curved arm feature has an art deco elegance whilst the vented cushioned
high back supports the neck and lower back. Longevity is assured via the high resilience fibre seat cushions and
coil steel springing and the luxurious feel will provide many years of pleasurable use.

The Venice range combines curvaceous modern styling with a high degree of comfort. The appeal is enhanced with
sumptuous terylene backs shaped to create lumbar and head support. Coil and serpentine steel spring units support

high resilient fibre seat cushioning. The Venice is available with a power or latch recliner chair. A swivel action is also
available on the standard chair.

The Amalfi and Monza’s arms have double wrap padding for a sumptuous look and added comfort. In this example,
piping highlights the fine detailing around the scroll arm, back and the cushions. There are deep skirted valances and
the high buttoned back effectively supports the contours of the spine and lumbar region.
As with all our products, these durable chairs and sofas feature traditional quality construction inside and out and
‘Reflex’ foam seat cushions are supported by coil springs combined with sprung front edge – ensuring lasting comfort.
The buttoned back design offers elegant and supportive comfort. The Amalfi range is available with a power or manual
recliner action chair.

One of this year’s beautiful new ranges, the Tuscany is every bit as pleasing to sit on as it is to look at.
There are plenty of style options that can make your Tuscany sofa and chair uniquely yours, including
the choice of classy and warm looking real oak, feature arm facings. Relaxing support for the back and
head is cleverly provided by the structure of the ample, Quallofil fibre, divided back cushions. More style
options include a three seater sofa with either two or three cushion backs.

The essence of Bridgecraft luxury is reflected in the Highgrove with it’s grand curvaceous arms and high back,
creating a feeling of opulence and style. Crafted to our highest standards, this model incorporates a double facing
with detailed pleating and ‘hockey stick’ feature. The three seater sofa is available with two (as shown in this

Livorno and Modena combine the elements of traditional comfort with curvaceous modern styling. The split back
fibre cushions offer good head and lumbar support and are finished with high resilient seat cushions, which are
supported by coil springs combined with a sprung front edge. A hardwood frame, glued, screwed and double

The power recliner mechanisms
available in all of Vale-Bridgecraft
recliners are ‘zero wall’ systems,
allowing the recliners to be
positioned very close to a wall,
even when fully reclined. They are
exceptionally smooth and have a
quiet reclining operation, which is
multi-positional and has an elevated
footrest for better circulation and
comfort. Specify either mains
powered or battery powered chair,
with a power pack, which allows
total freedom when positioning
the recliner, as it is free standing
and does not require permanent
connection to the mains electricity.
The battery is recharged simply by
plugging into the mains. A full charge
of approximately 12 hours lasts for
approximately one month with
average use.

Caring for your furniture

Vale Bridgecraft use only the finest materials and manufacture
to the highest quality standards. The finished furniture will
retain its appearance if it is treated with care.
Please comply with the following hints and tips to ensure product
longevity:
• Ensure even use of the furniture by rotating and turning all loose
cushions and avoid sitting in the same places all the time. It may be
necessary to adjust the seat cushion interiors from time to time if the
fabric has rotated and is not fully aligned with the borders. Carefully
undo the zip and adjust the foam interior accordingly.
• The back cushion interiors are filled with specially developed fibre.
Remove all loose cushions from your sofa, shake and plump up the fibre
to retain its volume and density, replace the cushions smoothing the
cushion cover.
• Gently vacuum clean your furniture as dust deposits can cause fabric
wear and colour fading.
• Sharp objects can pull or tear the fabric fibres and cause permanent
damage.
• Excessive exposure to direct sunlight can cause colour fading.
• Fabrics with a pile characteristic may show a shading or creasing effect.
This effect is also referred to as ‘watermarking’, ‘pooling’, ‘tracking’ or
‘pile pressure’, and is most noticeable on chenile and plain velvets.
These areas of shading occur randomly and are irregular in shape and
size. This is caused by the change in the angle of the pile and may be
permanent. Whilst this may be accentuated by lighting or frequent use,
it does not affect the quality or wear life of the fabric and is not a fault in
manufacture.
Cleaning
• A dye for upholstery fabrics that is totally resistant to wet rubbing has
not yet been developed. Therefore cleaning with soap or detergent and
water should not be attempted. Damage will also be caused by water
absorbing into the filling.
• In the case of spillage, dry the fabric by dabbing it with an absorbent
clean dry cloth.
• To remove spots or stains a reliable cleaning fluid can be used in
accordance with the makers instructions.
• After Sales Treatments: We are unable to accept responsibility for fabrics
that are treated in any way other than in the original manufacturing
process.
