Estamos encantados de organizar estos encuentros entre el cine
francés y todas las personas que contribuyen a que nuestro cine exista
en todos los países de América Latina. Hace varios años que estamos
queriendo reunir de nuevo a los vendedores franceses y a los
distribuidores de América Latina. Los recientes éxitos de nuestro cine,
como Intocables en toda la zona, Dios mío, ¿pero qué te hemos hecho?
en Argentina, El Principito en Brasil, La Familia Bélier en Colombia,
La Bella y la Bestia en México, nos han animado a promover
el cine francés en estos países que tanta atención les dedican.
La cinematografía de cada país es frágil, una propuesta variada
motiva al público a ir al cine a descubrir nuevas películas. Esta es
la suerte del cine francés, la de poder dirigirse tanto a un público
entusiasta por las grandes producciones, como a un público
de lo más exigente del punto de vista artístico. El cine francés supone
una alternativa entre el cine de Hollywood y el cine local, un cine
que puede proponer una visión distinta de la vida, aunque lejana
en la geografía, cercana en los sentimientos y en la cultura.
Estamos convencidos de que Miami, en colaboración con el Festival
Internacional, es el lugar idóneo para reunirnos y compartir nuestra
pasión en común: el cine. ¡Deseamos de todo corazón que este primer
mercado latino del cine francés sea todo un éxito y que se convierta
en la cita obligada de nuestra agenda internacional!

WELCOME TO MIAMI!
It’s a great pleasure to organize this meeting between French
cinema and those who help it to circulate in countries right
across Latin America. For many years now, we have wanted
to bring French sales companies and Latam distributors
together. The recent success of Intouchables throughout
the region, of Serial (Bad) Weddings in Argentina, of The Little
Prince in Brazil, The Bélier Family in Colombia, and Beauty
and the Beast in Mexico, encourages us to promote French
films in these territories which have such a keen interest
in our output.
Each nation’s cinema industry is fragile, and the diversity
of the offer incites spectators to discovery. French cinema
is fortunate in that it can address audiences ranging from those
who love blockbusters to those who enjoy more challenging
artistic fare. It offers an alternative between Hollywood films
and local productions, giving another view of the world –
geographically distant, yet close in terms of sentiments
and culture.
Along with the International Festival team in Miami, we have
found the ideal place to meet with you and share our mutual
passion for cinema. We hope that this first edition of the Latino
market for French films is a great success, and that it finds
a regular place for networking and deal-making in your busy
diaries!
