The location on Sandy point is second to none with no beach in the Cariboo more appealing. This

The small lakeside community of Canim Lake in the Cariboo is located at the south-western end of
Wells Gray Provincial Park (Entry of Park 10 min away).
The 23-mile (37 km) long Canim Lake is one of the larger lakes in the Cariboo, and very deep mean depth of 84.1m (275.84 feet) to a maximum depth of 198m (650 ft). Surrounded by expansive
meadows, mountains, rolling hills, and forests of pine, spruce and Douglas-fir trees. Numerous
resorts dot the shoreline of the magnificent Canim Lake, which has a distinctive lushness to it due in
part to its lower elevation. The area is often referred to as the Banana Belt and has between 4 - 6
weeks more ice free days than nearby Green Lake or Watch Lake.
Canim Lake has a great pebble beach remnant of the glacial age, and during summer this beautiful
area is fantastic for hiking, canoeing, boating and fishing. The prime area on the lake is sandy point
(where this property is located). Winter brings fabulous backcountry skiing, snowmobiling, skating,
snowshoeing, dog sledding and sleigh rides.

100 Mile House
100 Mile House (30 min away) is located at about the halfway point between Vancouver and Prince
George. It is situated in the interior of British Columbia in an area known as the South Cariboo. It is
famous for its friendly people and a host of opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors summer or
winter. 100 Mile was named handcrafted log home capital of North America and was showcased at
the Winter Olympics in Turin Italy. While the entire Cariboo area is famous for gold, ranching,
rodeos, and logging, it also has a thriving arts and business community in which 100 Mile serves as
the epicentre for a surrounding population of 20,000 in several small communities – Canim Lake
being one of these communities.

HISTORY
Canim Lake is the traditional territory of the Secwepemc (Shuswap) First Nation. The Native people
of Canim Lake and their ancestors are a part of what is known as the Lake Division of the Shuswap
Tribe within the Interior Salish Nations in B.C. Archaeological evidence of ancient habitation in the
Soda Creek region of the Cariboo during the summer of 1995 was carbon dated at approximately
4,300 years old. The name Canim appropriately means canoe in the Chinook language.
