Dr.BertrumMacDonald,InterimDeanoftheFacultyofManagement,receivedaSSHRCInsight Grantfor$371,575overfiveyearsforaprojectentitled“Elucidatinginformationuseatthe science-policyinterfaceinmarineenvironmentaldecision-making.” MLISProgramPlans SIMisintheprocessofaprogramreviewofourMLISdegree.Thisprocessisongoing,butwe areexcitedbytheideasbeinggeneratedtostrengthenourdegreeintermsofcurriculumto supportchangeswithinthe“traditional”sector,includinganewCommunityLedProgramming course,andtoexpandourcurriculumfocusingmorebroadlyonInformationManagement.We areconsideringthelaunchofcertificateprogramsstudentscouldcompletesimultaneouslywith theirdegree,andarerethinkingourcorecourses,bothintermsofcontentandsequencingto allowformoreflexibility.Beginningthissummer,wearecommittedtoofferingoneortwo onlineelectives,togivestudentsmoreoptions.WehostedanAllStudentsmeetingtoensure ourcurrentMLISstudentswereinvolvedintheprocess.Staytunedtoourwebsiteformore details. MIMProgramUpdates AlongwithourMLISprogramreview,wearealsoreviewingourMIMprogram.Launchedin 2008wehavehad35graduatesfromthisprogramtodate,with7morescheduledtowalk acrossthestagethissummer.Ourprogramfocusesbroadlyoneducatingmid-career professionalstotakeonleadershiprolesinInformationManagementacrossallsectors.With thereviewwearelookingforwaystoallowstudentstocustomizetheprogramtotheirneeds, andtoexpandtheDataManagementelementsoftheprogram.Wehavebeendoingfocus groupswithstudentsandalumnitohelpinthisprocess.
