In 2013 the company moved to the confines of a posh new facility in Burbank, CA, and so too did its business model – moving its focus towards more “custom shop”,
American made, high end instruments. The brand also introduced, for the very first time, its new line of high end amplifiers as well as a host of new high profile
endorsement deals.
Due to positive “growing pains”, Schecter’s budgets for advertising were less than normal for its fiscal year, thus the company reached out to Wheelhouse PR to help
maximize publicity and curate its presence at the National Association for Music Merchants Convention. Continuing the company’s momentum after the convention
also became priority due to the overwhelming positive response during the convention.
NAMM (the musical equivalent to the Consumer Electronics Show) – hosted in January each year in Anaheim, CA is the largest and most important convention for
music equipment manufacturers to showcase products to be launched for the upcoming year. STATE BICYCLE

Wheelhouse Marketing & PR Solution:
Given the short time constraints, Wheelhouse PR personnel immediately initiated a product line education forum (from the
client) by requesting training seminars on-site at the new Schecter custom shop facility. This provided invaluable insight into
not only the product itself, but also the entire company culture.
Wheelhouse PR then began its development of an extensive public relations plan that targeted music trade media, general
music and musical instrument media, NAMM organizers, Convention Center Executives as well as strategic endorsement
‘leaked information’ to generate consumer interest during the 4-day convention. The plan involved development of a robust
Press Kit, creative writing, leveraging Schecter relationships, development of new relationships, face-to-face meetings with
journalists, Schecter Artist Showcase Party invitation distribution to media, on-site recruitment of media to the Schecter
display and turnkey coordination of an elaborate endorsee press conference. Focused follow up after the convention was key
in securing coverage throughout the rest of the year.

Project – National Partnership Promotion:
Monster Energy – Java Monster / Aspiring Filmmakers SXSW Documentary Promotion 2012
In partnership with the South by Southwest Music, Film and Interactive Conference in Austin,
TX, the Java Monster brand developed a promotion offering the rare opportunity for aspiring
and seasoned filmmakers alike to become a part of SXSW lore by entering their “pitch video”
into an online competition via the “Submit Your Video for a Chance to Create a SXSW
Documentary”
“Java Monster / Aspiring Filmmakers SXSW Documentary Promotion 2012” Situation:
As a 3rd year sponsor of SXSW – the Monster Energy brand extended product reach beyond
its flagship energy drink brands to include their coffee/energy drink offerings. By doing so it
needed to broaden its efforts by paying close attention to an expanded demographic beyond
the extreme sports and music arenas. The focus was on a demo outside the aforementioned
areas, not yet tapped by the traditional Monster Energy brand with a palette that differs from
their general consumer; this arena being film, filmmakers and fans of the art. What better
place than SXSW to capture this group?

Wheelhouse Marketing & PR developed an extensive public relations plan (in coordination with
SXSW) that targeted fans, filmmakers, film industry, consumers of film related manufacturers,
trade media as well as general media to publicize the promotion as an open ended opportunity
that could provide any aspiring filmmaker – be it a novice to a veteran – the opportunity to
shoot an all access documentary of SXSW 2012 based purely on the creative messaging of
their “Pitch Video”. PR messaging was clear to level the playing field and provided substantial
