WOW! Dreams do come true and sometimes
even better than you could ever imagine.
After years of planning the Mustang Memories Event, I can say the one goal
that myself and Ken Janus have always had in the back of our minds was
to hit 1000 cars at Mustang Memories! Well when Pre registrations ended
this year at 643 (all time record high) we knew we had a very strong
possibility as long as the weather was nice! And boy was it ever! And when
9:00am rolled around and we were way past 800 cars already we knew it
was for sure within reach as we took a ride to see the line of cars still
waiting to get in was wrapped around the glass house! What a site! We
opened overflow areas immediately and it was still early morning! Then the
word came that we had indeed surpassed 1000 cars and they were still
coming in! This was one of my all-time proudest moments in my career
with the club! Just proves that if you try hard enough and always strive for
improvement (which we do constantly) it will pay off by making dreams
come true! Sponsors were beyond happy, crowd was beyond happy, kids
were beyond happy! Just an amazing day, and to think the day could not
get any better, I started the trophy presentation ceremony and had a couple
guest speakers, one which was lifetime MOCSEM member and the man
behind Ford Performance Group at Ford Racing, and one of the most
knowledgeable Mustang men on the planet! John began to speak to the
crowd, and this presentation was NOT on my agenda, so it had me puzzled,
before I knew it I was being presented the most prestigious award in the
automotive hobby, I was presented the Lee Iacocca Award by John Clor
and my Vice President Ken Janus! I was speechless and quite emotional
and beyond shocked, as there is no higher honor in our field! So talk about
icing on the cake! No greater example than that if you ask me! I want to
thank every single worker, all committee heads, all board of directors and
my show committee as NONE of this would ever have happened without
each and every one of you! Thank you again to everyone for making

MOCSEM Leadership Shares
Perspective of the BIGGEST Memories
Show yet!
For the 2013 Mustang Memories I worked in
the Merchandise tent. I worked the early
morning shift, setting up the merchandise
tables. I enjoy getting to see all the new
merchandise that Tracey Rey has purchased.
She has everything organized and labeled so
that it was easy to find the merchandise for the
customers. Once the gates open, we had a
steady flow of customers. I always enjoy
talking to the people who come to Mustang
Memories, hearing stories about their cars and
what brought them to the show. The
Merchandise tent is also one of the places
where people stop when they need help. We
help them with whatever they need to make
their car show experience a pleasant one.
Working at Mustang Memories is always a
rewarding experience. I look forward
celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the
Mustang at Mustang Memories this August.

Mustang Memories was a huge success for
merchandise. We were busy all day long and
had very happy customers and record breaking
sales.
50 year merchandise was the hot item of
the day. Thank you to all my workers who
volunteered their time and help making
Merchandise a HUGE success!

I'd like to take the timeout to write my story
about Mustang Memories. Being head of
security I really don't get the chance to see the
show as a whole but I do get to see it in bits
and pieces. The story I most remember is the
SVT guys, they are definitely a rowdy bunch!
Some people brought things with their
Mustangs. That bunch was really out there!
Even with all of that I still had a wonderful time
and with over a thousand cars it was well worth
it!

Mustang Memories is not only about gathering
Mustangs and having a good time it’s about
people. Not just the people at the show or
Mustang lovers this is MOCSEM’s largest
fundraiser of the year. Because of this car
show and the help from all our sponsors, we
are able to fulfill our mission and donate
thousands of dollars to numerous local and
national charities at year end. This is what
makes everything we do worthwhile.

Once again I worked Registration as I have for
the past several years. Kathy Janus is our
Chair for this area and she is the glue that
holds us all together. For the past several
years it has been the same group of women
who work in Registration and we are like a
well-oiled machine. We have a system and we
have it down pat.....so as the saying goes " If it
isn't broke, don't fix it!" Don't get me wrong, we
do have our share of hiccups but we work
together as a team to smooth them out. We
stay calm,
cool and collected, as we are the first group
our attendees encounter, and we get the job
done! As long as we continue to have
Mustang Memories I will be proud to work in
Registration.

As everyone knows by now, Mustang
Memories 2013 was a record-setting show.
With over a thousand gorgeous cars and
trucks, thousands of spectators, the largest
Midway and Swap yet, the media team spent
much of the day checking out the show through
a view finder. There was just so much to
photograph and video that the media teams
were much busier than anticipated
documenting it all. By the end of the day, the
photography team had shot over 3900 photos,
and the video team had shot several hours of
video.
The photography crew started shooting before
the show opened by documenting preparations
and setup. Once the show opened, our goal
was to shoot every car and truck before each
entered the show field. We came very close to
meeting our goal. In addition to photographing
more than a thousand vehicles in less than 4
hours, our photographers were busy
documenting activities on the Midway, swap
meet, and show field. As the show field began
to fill, the video team began to document the
action and sounds of the ongoing activities
which continued throughout the entire day.
The photos and videos are absolutely fantastic
and we have a great record of the show. Over
1500 photos from Mustang Memories 2013
have been put online with SmugMug. Anyone
can go to www.mocsem.smugmug.com and
view the show photos and order prints.
With the Mustang 50th Anniversary Celebration
this year, Mustang Memories 2014 is sure to
be the biggest and best Memories yet. So
much so, that I would not be surprised to see
1500+ cars and trucks on the show field. With
that, I am going to need 3-4 additional
photographers to cover the show. If you have a

one-day all-Ford show in the country, contact
