One Giant Leap for Mexico

A special presentation to the UNFCCC delegation of Mexico
To the Secretary of State for Environment, Juan Rafael Elvira Quesada,
We are pleased to present you this document listing the supporters of Sandbag’s ‘One Giant
Leap Campaign’ from Mexico and around the world.
We ask that you join us in pursuing a global deal which controls greenhouse gases from the
major emitters in the global power sector, thereby accelerating emissions reductions in Annex I
countries and extending the carbon cap to cover the most important sector in emerging
economies.
We do this on behalf of nearly 800 Mexican athletes who staged events across 14 Mexican cities
on Saturday September 26th 2009 to promote our campaign. Their example inspired a further
164 Mexican supporters to join us. They are part of a global call coming from athletes and
supporters across more than 70 countries worldwide. Please hear them.
