Artist information at bernardrands.com SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 22, 2014 AT 7:30PM ABOUT EVAN ZIPORYN Evan Ziporyn is an American clarinetist, composer, founder of Gamelan Galak Tika, and founding member of the internationally acclaimed ensemble, Bang on a Can All-Stars. Borrowing from Balinese gamelan, African, classical, and jazz traditions, Ziporyn has created groundbreaking, cross-cultural works with a downtown experimental sensibility. His music has been performed by Yo-Yo Ma’s Silk Road Project, the Kronos Quartet, and So Percussion. Artist information at ziporyn.com. ABOUT CHRISTINE SOUTHWORTH Christine Southworth is a composer based in Lexington, Massachusetts, who is dedicated to creating music born from a cross-pollination of sonic ideas. In 2003, she co-founded Ensemble Robot, a collaborative of artists and engineers that design and build musical robots. She is the general manager of the MIT-based Gamelan Galak Tika, and has performed at venues including Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, EMPAC, the Cleveland Museum of Art, several Bang on a Can Marathons, and the Bali International Arts Festival. ABOUT THE NEW MUSIC MIAMI FESTIVAL (NMMF) The New Music Miami Festival presents new music for diverse instrumentations throughout Miami, bringing together innovative composers and thinkers along with adventurous performers and audiences. The festival begins in late winter and runs throughout the spring, providing exciting performances along with master classes and panel discussions with invited guest artists.
