November
7pm at the Club
Rooms.
Final newsletter for the 2012/2013 financial HRCAV year! Where did that year go.
Feels like just last month it all began.
I will save all the good stuff for my end of year president’s award so make sure you
come to the AGM to hear that!
Just a quick one to thanks all involved in the Dressage Day. What a huge success the
day was. Weather wasn’t perfect but hey we are horse riders and these things happen.
The working bee was well attended and everything flowed well on the day. This is a
big money fundraiser for our club and we hope to be able to purchase new equipment
with the money raised. Huge thanks to our sponsors – Horseland, Fletchers Real Estate, PMB Farm, Horse Barn and Fat Pony Apparel. Please support our sponsor as
they support us.
Big thanks to Cath Giles for once again organising a great weekend away to Flowerdale with 3 days of wonderful trail riding. This weekend is cheap and an hour away.
I really encourage all members to try and come along next year if you can. It is a really
relaxing few days with just good friends and your horses.
Pony Club are using the grounds to run Friday Freshman’s days. The dates booked so
far are 29th of November, 27th of December, 31st January, 28th of February and 28th of
March. This is a great way to get Show jumping course practice in the comfort of
your home grounds.
A few date reminders–
HDARC AGM Wednesday 6th of November 7pm at the Club Rooms.
Jenny Sheppard Clinics at club grounds 20th to the 23rd of November and tentatively 20th to the 23rd of December 2013. Contact Sandy – [email protected]
Appaloosa Club at grounds: 19 Jan 2014; 18 May 2014; 20 July 2014
Reminder – membership is now due. Without your membership paid you can not
attend club rallies until it is paid. Plus we need the forms filled in and sent also. Your
card being stamped isn’t a huge rush, but ensure it is done before you next compete.
Membership forms are on the website - http://hdarc.org.au/forms/ Plus all the committees contact details if you have any questions.
Other than that enjoy the slightly better weather coming up and happy riding.

SATURDAY RALLIES
2 November - Felicity Yuncken
16 November – Lisa Bray (Flat and Jumping)
Hi Guys,
We have two rallies in November before the end of the year.
Unfortunately we are unable to have a rally in December as the Pony Club State Champs are on at our grounds
(which will be a great event to watch). So instead we will be having a trail ride on that weekend either Saturday 7
or Sunday 8 December. I will email out more details once it has been arranged.
Otherwise I hope you have all enjoyed the Rallies on Saturday and as always - any feedback is most welcome
Thanks to all our Saturday riders for your support this year.
Cheers

JENNY SHEPHERD
Hi Everyone,
For those keen to keep riding through the Spring, Jenny Sheppard will be here for showjumping lessons on Wed
20th to Sun 24th November.
Spots for lessons still available on Sunday only.
Jenny will do 3 lessons at adult riders on the Wed 20th Nov which you book as normal through Mel. Remember is
$20 to club and $10 to Jenny on the arena. Book the other lessons through me.
You can have a jumping lesson or flat if preferred.
Cost $90 for private 45 min or $120 for shared 2 people 60 min.
Non Hurstbridge ARC/PC members will have to fill out the attached disclaimer and pay a $10 fee for grounds use.
Payment is cash on the day or direct debit to Jenny as below.
Once booked, you are financially committed to the clinic as Jenny has fixed costs- travel from NSW etc. unless you
find a replacement rider for your lesson. This is up to you to do.
If you need to swap a time, advertise among everyone and let me know the swap for the booking sheet. Swapping
is also up to you to do but I must know the swap for the booking sheet.
Will need people to set up jumps, harrow each day and also pack up the jumps at the end of the clinic. Jobs
will be allocated if no one offers help as can not do it all myself!
Also Jenny struggles to teach and put rails up/down all day so will need people to hang around either before
or after their lesson to help her with rails please.
Lets do the maths. 12 jumps and 52 lessons means adjusting jumps 624 times. That gives big arms and major fatigue. Please stay and help!!!!!

Flowerdale HDARC Trail Ride Weekend
What a fantastic weekend away that didn't cost much but was an enormous amount of fun and serenity.
10 hours riding over 3 days is just what my bottom ordered! Some of the best views around and the nicest and
kindest horse people to ride with. I had a ball and thanks to Cath Giles for organising it.
WEDNESDAY END OF TERM RIDE AND CHRISTMAS BREAK-UP LUNCH
Wednesday 11th December, 2013
At the delightful Watsons Creek Antiques Café,
765 Eltham-Yarra Glen Rd, Kangaroo Ground
Come and celebrate the end of another great year of riding with friends.
The café will be providing a delicious, set price, 2 course lunch for $28.00.
This will include a combination of either entree, main meal (with choices) or dessert,
plus coffee, tea or soft drink.
Alcoholic drinks will be available for purchase.
There will be the option of a leisurely trail ride to and from the café for those who are interested. This will be departing
from the Kangaroo Ground Pony Club Grounds at 10.00am. On arrival at the café the horses will be tied up in the paddock at the back where water and some hay will be provided. Please indicate on the return slip if you are riding or not
and don’t forget your headstall and rope if you are!
(For those who are riding and need to pick up kids from school, making alternative arrangements can ensure a less
stressful departure after lunch)

Please post the return slip with payment to: Cath Giles 265 Flat Rock Road, Hurstbridge 3099
