WELCOME.
With 2012 being such a momentous year and the Olympics
just around the corner, there is plenty to look forward to over
the coming months with several exciting new models joining an
already class leading product range.
CONTENTS.
BMW CORPORATE NEWS.
As Official Automotive and Sustainability Partner to London 2012,
BMW Group will take pride of place at the Games, not least through
providing a fleet of 3,200 BMW Group vehicles for both athletes
and officials over the course of the event. The BMW Pavilion is also
in its final stages: situated in the Olympic Park, it will allow visitors
to experience BMW’s vision for sustainable motoring for themselves.
BMW continues to stay at the cutting edge of innovative
technologies. In this issue, you can read the latest on the range
of BMW i Concept vehicles and the BMW ActiveHybrid 3, the
world’s first hybrid premium compact sports Saloon.
The coming quarter also sees exciting product updates and
introductions, including the hugely anticipated BMW 3 Series
Touring, alongside the new BMW 1 Series 3-door and graceful
BMW 6 Series Gran Coupé. MINI’s suitability for the fleet
market continues to grow with the new MINI Clubvan Concept,
which marks MINI’s first foray into the small commercial vehicle
market, filling a niche for a premium yet practical vehicle for small
businesses.
Budget 2012 has announced various changes for both fleet
operators and company car drivers, which can’t be ignored.
Full details of these changes can be found on page 6.
2012 will be a year that is not forgotten, and I’m sure you will
join me in wishing our athletes every success in making history.
If you have any questions, please get in touch with myself or
one of the team, and I wish you ongoing success for the
remainder of the year.

THE MOST DYNAMIC WAY
TO DRIVE A HYBRID.
THE NEW BMW ACTIVE HYBRID 3.
Hybrid car technology combines the best of both worlds:
the performance of a petrol engine with the efficiency of
an electric motor. Following the February launch of the
BMW ActiveHybrid 5, 2012 sees the UK arrival of the
new BMW ActiveHybrid 3, the world’s first full hybrid,
premium compact sports Saloon.
Intelligent design.
Like the new 3 Series Saloon, the BMW ActiveHybrid 3
has a powerful appearance with the distinctive BMW
kidney grille and headlights forming a single unit and
precisely guided contour lines sweeping the length of the
bonnet. Inside, the cabin is orientated around the driver
so that every function and programme is within easy
reach. The hybrid-specific gauges, Control Display and
important operating functions are all easily accessible.
To further aid drivers, standard specification includes
Bluetooth hands-free with USB audio interface and iDrive
controller with 8.8" widescreen Control Display, making
the BMW ActiveHybrid 3 the ideal vehicle for any fleet.
5
Physically, the ActiveHybrid 3 has been designed with
hybrid technology in mind from the outset, with the
lithium-ion batteries neatly concealed beneath the floor
of the luggage compartment, meaning that boot space
is not compromised and still offers a spacious 390 litres.
The practical benefits provided by the ActiveHybrid
3 means customers are still able to opt for 40:20:40
split folding rear seats with through-loading, options
previously unseen in hybrid vehicles.
Unrivalled efficiency.
Based on the new 335i BMW TwinPower Turbo sixcylinder petrol engine, in conjunction with an electric
motor and lithium-ion batteries, the ActiveHybrid 3
delivers supreme efficiency. The benefits can be seen
with fuel consumption of 47.9mpg (combined) and CO2
emissions of just 139g/km, whilst still achieving 0-62mph
in 5.3 seconds.
The ActiveHybrid Family.
The ActiveHybrid 3 joins the already successful
ActiveHybrid 5 model, which has received extensive
praise from the motoring press. This model features the
same engine setup and level of performance seen on
the 535i, but delivers a 16% increase in fuel efficiency.
With a 2.4 mile range on the electric motor alone, it’s
no wonder why Autocar have praised the ActiveHybrid
5, saying “out on the open road, the car really shines.
Solid straight line stability, low levels of wind noise and
excellent drive-line refinement make it a consummate
cruiser on the motorway.”

removing all the
taxing decisions.
CAPITAL ALLOWANCES.
In the current financial climate it’s more important than ever
for fleets to be aware of changes in BIK and corporation tax.
The March 2012 budget saw significant changes that will
impact company fleets and company car drivers not only
today, but for years to come.
From 6 April 2012, main rate capital allowances for cars with CO2
emissions of between 111g/km and 160g/km inclusive reduces from
20% to 18%, while the special rate allowance, for cars with CO2
emissions of 160g/km or more, is cut from 10% to 8%.
BIK CHANGES.
From April 2013 the CO2 emissions threshold for both main and
special rate capital allowances reduces from 160g/km to 130g/km.
Budget 2011 announced significant changes to the sliding scale
used for the calculation of company car tax, with changes introduced
from 6 April 2012 and further reform due in 2015/16.
Cars with CO2 emissions of 99g/km or less, and between 121g/km
and 124g/km inclusive, are excluded from any company car tax
rise in 2012/13, while all other drivers suffer an increase. The tear
out table shows a full break down of new rates for 2012/13 and
beyond.
VEHICLE EXCISE DUTY.
The amount you pay for the tax disc in your car will rise in line with
the Retail Prices Index from 1 April 2012.
NATIONAL INSURANCE CONTRIBUTIONS.
Class 1A National Insurance Contributions made by employers on
company car benefit remains at 13.8% as in 2011/12.
FUEL.
Despite rising costs at the pumps, the chancellor ruled out any cut
in fuel duty and confirmed that the 3.02p/litre increase will go ahead
as planned.
Budget 2012 announced a rise in the car fuel benefit charge from
£18,800 to £20,200 from 6 April.

TAKING YOUR car ABROAD.
preparing for a driving trip to Europe.
If your company car drivers are planning to join the three million British motorists who will take their cars to Europe this year,
there are essential things they need to know and do before setting off.
DON’T LEAVE HOME WITHOUT…
Driving licence. A full UK licence is valid in 18 European countries.
If you don’t have a photocard licence, you may be asked to produce
photographic proof of your ID, such as a passport.
ALWAYS ALWAYS.
Adjust headlamp beams to prevent dazzle. It’s compulsory for
right hand drive vehicles driven in Europe. Fit adhesive masks and
adjust for extra load if needed.
Motor insurance certificate and insurance contact details.
Always check whether your UK protection – e.g. for theft or
accidents – extends to driving abroad. If not, you will only have the
minimum legal (usually third party only) cover in the EU. You may
need to pay an extra premium to extend your cover.
RARELY REQUIRED THESE DAYS.
A Green Card is not usually needed in Europe, as your UK
insurance automatically gives you minimum cover in the EU. See
www.abi.org.uk for more details. An International Driving Permit
(IDP) is not necessary either, as long as you have a full UK licence.
An IDP, which shows your photo, can be useful as extra ID if you
don’t have a photocard licence, though.
The vehicle registration document (V5). You may be fined on
the spot if you cannot produce this. If you drive a company car,
allow sufficient time to obtain the V5 document (or a certified copy
of it) from your employer or the leasing company before you go.
Your passport!
BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY.
Breakdowns abroad and recovering a vehicle to the UK can cost
hundreds or thousands of pounds and this won’t be covered by
your motor insurance. It’s always advisable to take out Breakdown
and Recovery insurance, which is available from insurers and
motoring organisations.
7
Display a GB sticker. GB stickers, or modern-style number plates
showing the GB Euro-symbol, are compulsory when driving a
UK-registered vehicle anywhere else in Europe.
WHERE YOU NEED A VIGNETTE.
A vignette is a tax disc used in place of motorway tolls. You need to
buy one before using motorways in Austria, the Czech Republic and
Switzerland.

LAUNCH OF THE BMW
PAVILION AT THE LONDON
2012 OLYMPIC VILLAGE.
As the Official Automotive Partner of London 2012, BMW will have its own Pavilion at the Olympic and Paralympic
Games. Designed by a leading British based architectural firm, which pitched against six other companies to
come up with the winning idea, the 800m2 BMW Group Pavilion will be located on an elevated platform over the
River Lea, between the Olympic Stadium and Aquatics Centre.
The two-storey structure is expected to receive over
8,000 visitors a day during the Games, and has been
designed to reflect BMW’s commitment to sustainability.
Built predominately from steel containing a large percentage
of recycled materials, the Pavilion will utilise water from the
river below to provide a sustainable source of cooling.
The water is filtered and then returned to the river producing
an eye-catching “water curtain” feature.
9
The top deck will feature nine stand-alone pavilions
highlighting the latest BMW models, including the new range
of BMW i Concept vehicles. Comprising the BMW i8 Concept,
an innovative and progressive sports car that combines an
electric drive system with a three-cylinder combustion engine,
and the BMW i3 Concept a purely electric four-seat city car,
the BMW i range looks set to shape the future of motoring
(more details on both cars can be found on page 18).
“As a major investor, manufacturer and employer in the UK,
BMW Group is deeply proud to be an Official Partner for
Britain’s first Olympic and Paralympic Games since 1948.”
Tim Abbott, Managing Director, BMW Group UK.
The lower deck will demonstrate to visitors BMW’s vision
for sustainable motoring and its support of Team GB and
ParalympicsGB athletes through a range of interactive
visitor exhibits.
Managing Director of BMW Group UK, Tim Abbott,
comments: “As a major investor, manufacturer and employer
in the UK, BMW Group is deeply proud to be an Official
Partner for Britain’s first Olympic and Paralympic
Games since 1948.
“This commitment to the UK is reflected in our choice of
home-grown architecture practice to design our Pavilion
and we’re delighted that the final design reflects our
commitment to sustainable thinking in such an innovative
and eye-catching manner. We believe it provides a truly
worthy addition to the Olympic Park.”
As the Official Automotive Partner of the Olympic and
Paralympic Games, BMW is providing a fleet of 4,000
vehicles that will transport athletes and officials throughout
the period of the Games. The fleet, recently announced,
has an average CO2 figure of 116g/km, comfortably beating
the 120g/km average set by LOCOG, thanks to vehicles
featuring BMW EfficientDynamics measures such as Auto
Start-Stop technology and Brake Energy Regeneration.
Further CO2 emission savings are achieved through the
use of hybrid and electric cars and BMW motorcycles.

This means £0 road tax in the first and all subsequent years,
13% BIK, 100% capital write down allowance and exemption
from the London congestion charging zone.
There’s even more money to be saved with a fuel economy of
74.3mpg (combined) and an impressive range of over 800 miles
from one tank of fuel.
Bearing this frugality in mind, it might surprise you to discover
that no expense has been spared with a high level of standard

Recently added to the BMW 1 Series line up are new M Sport
models, an option always popular with drivers. Additional standard

New 125d and 125i M Sport

0-62mph in just 6.5 seconds. Further,
CO2 emissions from the 125d are
remarkably low at 129g/km alongside
an impressive fuel consumption of
57.6mpg on the combined cycle.
Other standard features on these new
M Sport models include ventilated

chrome exhaust tailpipes.

THE NEW BMW 1 SERIES 3-DOOR.
LOOKS THE BUSINESS.
The new BMW 1 Series 3-door, launching in September, is the latest addition to the 1 Series Sports Hatch
range. Available in the same ES, SE, Sport, Urban and M Sport variants as the 5-door, plus additional new 114i
and M135i engines, the new 3-door gives fleet drivers and operators more choice than ever before.
The larger dimensions mean more leg room in the rear and more luggage space
over the outgoing model, while the wider doors make it easier for rear passengers
to get in and out. You’ll also find a generous standard specification, including Auto
Start-Stop, Drive Performance Control including ECO PRO and on SE models and
above, Bluetooth telephone hands-free functionality with USB audio interface and
iDrive controller with 6.5" Control Display.
Available from launch is the 116d EfficientDynamics model with only 99g/km CO2,
bringing the benefits of low BIK, zero road tax and congestion charge exemption,
plus the brand new entry level petrol 114i model, which achieves a frugal 49.6mpg
(combined) and 132g/km CO2.
If high performance is your preference, look no further than the new M135i, the
first petrol engine model in the new BMW M Performance range. Positioned
between M Sport variants and M models, the 320hp M135i is capable of 0-62mph
in 4.9 seconds. Appropriately, the high specification features Xenon headlights,
leather upholstery and exclusive 18" alloy wheels as standard.

PRACTICALLY PERFECT.
PRACTICALLY PERFECT.
The fleet favourite, the BMW 3 Series, welcomes the
addition of the new BMW 3 Series Touring on 22 September
2012. Bettering its already class-leading predecessor with
improvements in power and a larger interior capacity, the new
BMW 3 Series Touring really leaves the competition behind.

level of specification. It includes 18" alloy wheels, rear bumper
with Chrome detailing, luxurious Dakota leather upholstery and
Fineline Anthracite wood trim as standard.
Economical engines.
The latest technologies.
Even greater choice.
Other standard equipment on the new BMW 3 Series Touring
includes 40:20:40 split rear seats with through-loading facility,
the only car in its class to do so, and an automatic opening rear
tailgate, a convenient feature if you need to open the boot with
your hands full. The separately opening rear window from the
outgoing model remains, allowing you to conveniently load small
items into the now class leading 495 litre boot space.
Despite unrivalled driving dynamics, CO2 emissions are
impressively low across the range, with three engine options
available from launch, the 320d, 328i and 330d. Company car
drivers will be pleased to hear improvements across the range,
with the 320d Touring now delivering 123g/km of CO2 (with
automatic transmission), translating to a saving of 19g/km of
CO2 over the outgoing model and a new BIK rating of just 18%.
Meanwhile, with fuel consumption of 60.1mpg (combined) and a
0-62mph time of just 7.6 seconds, this car is destined to be
a fleet favourite.
In addition to the standard ES, SE and M Sport model variants,
three new trim options are available, giving fleet drivers even
greater levels of personalisation. The Sport model is undeniably
dramatic, with High-gloss Black detail on the bumpers, bespoke
air intakes and Red stitching in the Sport seats. In contrast,

THE NEW BMW 6 SERIES GRAN COUPÉ.
Launching on 2 June 2012, the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupé
represents a new chapter in BMW’s history as the first ever

in both SE and M Sport variants. All models feature a host of
EfficientDynamics technologies as standard, including an
Eight-speed Sport automatic transmission and Auto Start-Stop,
ensuring both power and efficiency. To put this into perspective,
the 640d delivers 313hp and 630Nm torque, yet still achieves
50.4mpg (combined) and CO2 emissions of just 148g/km. From July
2012 a brand new 650i engine will be available, taking the new Gran

THE NEW HIGH PERFORMANCE M6 COUPÉ
AND CONVERTIBLE LAUNCH SEPTEMBER.
The Ultimate Driving Machine reaches new levels of supercar
performance in September with the launch of the new BMW M6 Coupé
and Convertible. Featuring the same 560hp, 680Nm V8 engine, Sevenspeed M Double Clutch Transmission (M DCT) and Active M Differential
as the revered new BMW M5 Saloon, the new M6 models deliver a
generous dose of M Performance.
The Coupé accelerates from 0-62mph in 4.2 seconds, the Convertible
in 4.3 seconds, yet fuel efficiency has been significantly improved and
CO2 emissions are class-leading at 232g/km and 239g/km respectively.
This is largely due to BMW EfficientDynamics weight-saving measures
and technologies such as Auto Start-Stop and Active Aerodynamics.
“Inside, there’s carbon fibre trim, a specially
designed steering wheel and sport seats
to match the aggressive exterior. Plus, the
handling is boosted by three-mode adaptive
dampers and a mechanical limited-slip diff on
the rear axle.”

BMW i. The inside story.
BMW i: It may be a concept today, but designs for the new
BMW i Concept vehicles are looking to define the future of
the car. The BMW i3 Concept and BMW i8 Concept will set
the benchmark for tomorrow’s mobility, not just with their
futuristic exterior design and driving dynamics but with their
interior make-up too. Car travel will never be the same again.
unmatched by any BMW Group vehicle before it, the BMW i8 is the
sports car for the future. Important functions such as the gearshift
lever, Start-Stop button and parking brake are carefully arranged
around the driver on the centre console, allowing full immersion into
the driving experience.
Interior design.
The joining of the driver and passenger with the outside world plays
an important role for BMW i. In the BMW i8 Concept the freestanding
information display is accompanied by an equally large instrument
cluster providing vital information to the driver. Designing the
central instruments in this way enables driver-relevant information
to be conveyed in a three-dimensional and high-resolution format.
Meanwhile, innovative connectivity functions create a seamless
connection between the BMW i3 Concept and its customers’ lives
outside the car. Remote functions accessible via a smartphone
enable owners to find their vehicles, locate nearby charging stations,
allow battery charging and preconditioning at the touch of a button,
and supply information on the current status of the vehicle.
The architecture of BMW i Concept models opens up new avenues
in interior design. For example, the absence of a centre console
in the BMW i3 Concept creates an open and airy cabin, while
passengers’ raised ‘semi command’ position provides a good view
of the road ahead and eases access to the seats. Innovative interior
design in the front and rear of the BMW i3 Concept create a sense
of space and allow passengers to swap from one side to the other
and easily exit the car from the same side if needs be. Not seen
before in BMWs, this offers a real benefit when parking spaces are
tight, when access to one side is blocked or when exiting to the
off-side is hazardous. In contrast, drivers and passengers of the
BMW i8 Concept are positioned lower within the vehicle and are
fully cosseted by the interior. Boasting a driver-focused environment

study:
SIG
It's not hard to see why SIG, a company that is at the heart
of ensuring greater thermal efficiency of homes with its
insulation and building supplies business, would want to
see the utmost efficiency from its 1023-car fleet.
Indeed, such has been the pace of change at SIG that, since 2010
when the publicly quoted company decided to place its purchased
fleet on contract hire with Lex, SIG has become number one of
Lex Autolease's most CO2 efficient fleets.
Some feat.
Tommy Duncombe, SIG's Logistics Administration Manager, says
that the move to leasing was a massive change for the company.
“We decided to look at purchasing them on a wholelife cost basis,”
explains Tommy. “In particular we considered fuel efficiency and low
CO2 emissions because of the financial benefits all round – for us as
a company, for the drivers in terms of tax, and for us as a company
that's concerned about our carbon footprint and conserving energy.
This has given positive results.
“In both these key areas, CO2 and fuel efficiency, BMW is further
advanced than a number of other car manufacturers. As a result,
it has allowed BMW cars to become more accessible to a greater
number of bands on our company car policy.”
While other car makes / models are available to SIG company car
drivers, BMW is the most popular: 46.4 per cent of current live cars
with Lex are BMWs. “I think it's helped that BMW has staged the
introduction of its EfficientDynamics models, rather than introducing
them all at once,” says Tommy, who has just converted to one of the
new 320d EfficientDynamics models from his previous Mercedes
E-Class. Tommy's line manager is another that has moved from an
Audi A7 to a 520d EfficientDynamics to gain a reduction in his BIK.
SIG has a long-standing relationship with BMW, and was the first
company to sign a Direct Sales agreement with BMW back in 2008.
Although purchasing has moved over to Lex, the agreement is still
in place.
Tommy says SIG values the Direct Sales agreement, and not just
because of the discount it affords, but because of the proactive
nature of BMW's involvement in running the SIG fleet.
“As a customer we've always tried to get the best deal possible.
Because of our fleet size we need the sales support,” explains
Tommy. "BMW were quick to come to the table and have given us
fantastic support, not just about buying a car, but it's what you get
afterwards. Everything we do is partnership oriented, whether it's
BMW, Sytner of Sheffield the supplying dealer, or Lex Autolease.
“We have regular meetings with BMW, because we have many
vehicles across our company car list bands, we need to make sure
we have it right. Along with Sytner, we are able to identify issues,
sit round a table to solve them and move on. You can only do that
when everyone is actively involved,” explains Tommy.
“It benefits everybody. But most of all, it benefits our drivers. And you can see this by
the increasing number choosing a BMW as their company car.”
Tommy Duncombe, SIG Logistics Administration Manager.

THE NEW MINI JOHN COOPER
WORKS COUNTRYMAN.
DELIVERING PERFORMANCE AND POWER.
September 2012 sees the launch of the new MINI John Cooper
Works Countryman; the first all-wheel drive John Cooper Works
model also available with optional automatic transmission.
The new model is a real powerhouse, thanks to a new 218hp
1.6 litre twin-scroll turbocharged engine that combines with the
Countryman’s ALL4 drivetrain to make this the most powerful
MINI in the current line-up. That power translates to a speedy
acceleration of 0 to 62mph in just 7 seconds. Pretty exciting for
a car that, thanks to MINIMALISM technologies, achieves a cool
38.2mpg (combined) and emits just 172g/km of CO2, giving it a
BIK rating of 25%.
The new MINI John Cooper Works Countryman has got the looks
to back up its performance too, with a strikingly extensive standard
specification. It features everything that you’d find on the Cooper S
ALL4 with the addition of 18" John Cooper Works Twin Spoke alloy
wheels, lowered sport suspension, John Cooper Works body styling
and exhaust system, and contrasting sport stripes.

another day. another adventure.
The thrill-seeking mini coupé.
Launched last year, the fun-loving MINI Coupé was the first
two-seater in the range, with a sole mission to provide a
thrilling experience for whoever is sat behind the wheel.
Not only is the MINI Coupé nippy and nimble with plenty
of attitude, it also offers surprisingly good storage too.
It’s this combination of untamed MINI energy and everyday
practicality that make the Coupé an attractive proposition
for fleet buyers.
Drivers can be sure of MINI’s commitment to premium levels
of quality and equipment, with MINIMALISM technologies
working to produce tree-hugging performance. The MINI
Cooper SD Coupé, for example, achieves 0-62mph in 7.9
seconds with 65.7mpg (combined) and CO2 emissions of
114g/km. The stylish looks, smile-inducing performance and
class-leading practicality make this a smart business choice.

MINI Roadster.
The adventure continues.
Laid-back styling, smart technology and the trademark
MINI driving experience make the new MINI Roadster
a stimulating companion on any road trip. MINI’s first
open-top two-seater may show the attitude and style on
the outside, but it’s also got the sensibility and practicality
in abundance with its 240 litre luggage compartment with
through-loading capability.
With CO2 emissions from 118g/km and fuel-sipping
performance that achieves 62.8mpg (combined), the MINI
Roadster doesn’t skimp on the excitement that you’d expect
from a MINI. With its athletic stance and punchy engine, the
MINI Roadster might just have you volunteering to be the
one that makes the long drive to Coventry for that client
meeting everyone wants to avoid.

EXPECT BIG THINGS.
Now an established member of the MINI family, the MINI Countryman
is proving a big hit with many fleet drivers in the UK thanks to its
four door, five seat practicality, not to mention 1,170 litres of load
space. Add in optional four-wheel drive, low emissions and impressive
fuel consumption and you really do have a compelling fleet proposition.
The figures in the table below show how good the Countryman is on
paper. But don’t take our word for it, here’s what our customers have
to say after test driving the mighty MINI Countryman.
“Car compares to the VW Golf and Audi A3,
but MINI has the edge.”
Baker Harrison.
“...handled itself superbly around the lanes.”
Tarmac.
“Nippy around town, cruises well on
the motorway.”
A&N Media.

The MINI Hatch.
The everyday hero.
When you think of the MINI Hatch, you probably
instantly think of its go-kart handling, impressive
good looks, and the ‘Great Britishness’ of it all.
But did you know that aside from being a little bundle
of joy to drive, the MINI Hatch can actually be a
fantastic fit for your fleet needs? With CO2 emissions
of just 99g/km, the MINI Cooper D Hatch is not only
exempt from the London Congestion Charge and road
tax but qualifies for 100% write down allowance and
falls into the 13% BIK band. When it comes to fuel
efficiency, the Cooper D Hatch achieves an impressive
74.3mpg on the combined cycle, meaning over 650
miles between trips to the petrol station.
And, as if that’s not enough, you’ll be amazed at how
much you can squeeze into the back of the MINI Hatch.
Thanks to its 50:50 split-folding rear seats, you get boot
space of up to 680 litres.

PERFORMANCE TEAM UPDATE.
The athletes in our Performance Team have certainly been busy, doing what they do best.
We wanted to bring you up to speed with what they’ve been up to and their achievements
from last year. The Brownlee brothers, Alistair and Jonathan, stormed to victory at the
Triathlon Test Event in London and the Championship Grand Final in Beijing last summer.
In both races, Alistair finished first and Jonathan finished third.
At the Euro Hockey Nations in Germany, Team GB won the bronze medal, with our very own
Richard Mantell scoring the first goal. Meanwhile, Chris Froome, made history as the first Brit
to stand on a grand tour podium, finishing second and third in the Vuelta a España.
Carl Hester and his teammates won gold in the European Dressage Championships, marking
the first gold medal for Team GB ever at this level. Carl also won two individual silver medals
at the event.
Zara Dampney and Shauna Mullin competed in the London 2012 Beach Volleyball Test Event
in London, finishing fifth.
As you can see, our Performance Team is made up of some incredibly talented athletes,
and through their achievements last year, they have managed to raise medal hopes for the
London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games even further. Keep up with the progress of
the athletes above and the rest of the team at www.MINI.co.uk/london2012.

CASE STUDY: BACARDI.
Since December 2011, Bacardi Brown-Forman Brands
have taken positive steps to lower their carbon
footprint by replacing their current fleet with the MINI
Cooper D Countryman. Supplied by vehicle leasing and
fleet management company, Alphabet, the new cars
will be fully maintained for a three year period.
The MINI Countryman reflects the premium brand image
of Bacardi Brown-Forman Brands, as well as meets the
sales force need for practicality and sustainability with
spaciousness and low fuel consumption.
The model chosen by the Bacardi Brown-Forman Brands,
the MINI Cooper D Countryman, has low CO2 emissions of
just 115g/km helping the company’s on-going commitment
to reducing its carbon footprint in the UK. On the road,
these new MINIs emit 17% less CO2 than the previous cars
in the fleet, meaning an approximate saving of 62 tons of
CO2 over the first three years of the programme.
Space-wise, the four-door MINI Countryman steps
confidently up to the bar set by Bacardi Brown-Forman
Brands offering the sales force a fun and cool, but spacious
and economical car.
“The Countryman’s premium brand image is very much
like ours, which makes it an ideal car to represent
Bacardi Brown-Forman Brands. Our sales force is truly
excited about driving their MINIs to key accounts,”
said Caroline Eadie, who manages the Bacardi BrownForman Brands car fleet.
“More importantly, by changing our fleet to the MINI
Countryman, our fuel consumption and costs will be
significantly reduced.”
