a joint venture between Tata Motors and Marcopolo S.A., Brazil.

Engine. Starbus Ultra is designed using the proven and reliable Tata 497 engine / new
3L engine (BS III & BS IV), along with a viscous fan (used for the first time in this class
of buses). The optimal power of the engine results in considerably higher fuel
efficiency and the lowest NVH among buses in its class. Moreover, the better torque
characteristics ensure better pulling on higher gears, resulting in best-in-class 28.6%
gradeability and lower fuel consumption.
Driveline. The gearbox in Starbus Ultra is G-550, a 6-speed gearbox with overdrive

and cable shift mechanism. This ensures higher mileage, more speed selection
options and higher maximum speed. And being made of steel double cone synchro
gives it 30% more life. Above all, the gear lever which is mounted on the dashboard,
offers car-like gear shifting that requires less driver effort and causes less fatigue.
