Welcome
to Stockholm – a city
for everyone!
Stockholm is a city of contrasts. Trends in music, design, fashion, and technology are born here, and innovations
that spread worldwide are invented here. Stockholm also has a rich history comprising gorgeous architecture,
museums, the Royal Palace and the medieval urban core of Gamla Stan. Trendy bars and world-class restaurants are
shoulder-to-shoulder with historic cafés and cozy neighborhood pubs. This is a city of modern galleries and exclusive
department stores, as well as small boutiques and unique shops. Stages and arenas attract Swedish and international
stars, and large and small events come one after the next.
Stockholm is simultaneously urban and close to nature; water is an ever-present feature in this city where lake and sea
meet. Parks and green areas abound, and the distinctive white archipelago boats travel to the islands all year long.
The atmosphere is open, tolerant and welcoming, and diversity and innovation are encouraged. Stockholm is a city for
everyone.
We hope you have a wonderful stay with us!

City
If you’re looking for trendy and affordable big department stores and chain
shops, then head down to City. You’ll
find most of the major fashion chains
here, including H&M of course, which
takes up an entire block. Situated by
Hötorget is the historic department store
PUB, which has an exciting, creative
assortment of fashion and interior
design products. Sweden’s biggest
department store, Åhléns City, is
located by Sergels Torg and offers the
Nordic region’s biggest beauty department, personal shopping (04), and a
wide array of Swedish fashion and
design. NK on Hamngatan is, hands
down, Stockholm’s most luxurious and
historic department store; it opened in
1902. On the other side of the street
is Gallerian, Stockholm’s first and
biggest indoor mall, where you will find
Hollister and more. A new feature of
City, focusing on exciting environments, unique shops and restaurants,
is MOOD Stockholm (03) between
Regeringsgatan and Norrlandsgatan.
04
Södermalm
This is a young, creative, somewhat
bohemian neighborhood where thriving is easy. If you’re looking for trendy
fashion, interior decor, and vintage
and secondhand shopping, then this is
the place to go. In the neighborhood
south of Folkungagatan, called SoFo
for short, you’ll find an excellent mix
of shops, bars and restaurants. Ecoconscious Urban Deli by Nytorget park
isn’t just a restaurant and upscale grocery store; it’s also one of Södermalm’s
most popular meeting places. Close
by is Pärlans Konfektyr (02), offering
1930s-style handmade candy.
Grandpa is an absolute must, with a
unique mix of apparel, shoes, accessories, vintage pieces and interior decor,
as is Tjallamalla, featuring new and vintage Swedish shoes and fashion. SoFo
is also home to 1950s-inspired Sivletto,
an eccentric lifestyle boutique with
apparel, interior design, magazines
and music. A few neighborhoods
north, on Götgatspuckeln, you’ll find
an urban mix of young and trendy
fashions, and popular coffee bars and
restaurants. For example, check out
Bruno, Monki and Weekday.
Biblioteksstan
The area around Biblioteksgatan in
downtown Stockholm is a dynamic
center for luxurious shopping featuring
Swedish and international fashion.
Brands like Acne, Whyred (01),
Armani and Marc by Marc Jacobs are
represented here, as are Prada, Ralph
Lauren and Swedish fragrance house
Byredo. In addition, you’ll find several
popular bars, cafés and restaurants.
For a few years, the luxurious Nobis
Hotel has made this
 area even hotter.
The shopping stretch along Birger Jarlsgatan has shops offering brands such
as Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Bottega Veneta
and exclusive boutiques like Mulberry
and Versace.
Östermalm
In this exclusive neighborhood, you’ll
find a few great shopping streets,
including Kommendörsgatan, Nybrogatan and Sibyllegatan. Many of
Sweden’s most esteemed antique
dealers of art, furniture, jewelry, books
and rugs can be found here. Have
a peek inside the classic Swedish
interior design shop Svenskt Tenn on
Strandvägen, where you’ll find Josef
Frank’s colorful patterns and a lovely
gift department.

Fika is a Swedish phenomenon that has no equivalent
in the rest of the world. For
over a hundred years, Swedes
have had their very own word
for drinking coffee, tea, or
juice alongside a baked good:
to fika. If you like taking a
coffee break, you’ve definitely
come to the right place.
Stockholm has loads of
delightful cafés and bakeries.

What are your best
Stockholm tips?
“One tip is to walk through Rosendal’s Garden or the gardens at Ulriksdal Palace,
have a coffee and enjoy nature. If you want to shop for food, I think it's essential
to buy ingredients when they’re in season, when they’re at their best. The farmer’s
market in Tessinparken is great, and you can even find gems in our indoor markets.
If you want a traditional Swedish meal, then have some herring, cheese and crisp
bread, preferably with beer and schnapps. And if you want it Stockholm-style,
then combine the meal with a tour of the archipelago. Stockholm also has a huge
selection of great restaurants. Simply enjoy!”

Start when the night is young!
On Fridays and Saturdays, most nightclubs are open until 3 a.m.,
and some are open until 5 a.m. Thursdays are popular at nightclubs, too. Some of the trendiest clubs have many VIP guests,
and the lines can be long, usually around midnight. One tip is to
begin your night early with dinner: many nightclubs also have
restaurants.

A wintertime tour of the
Stockholm archipelago is at
least as bewitching as one in
summer. The air is fresh and
crisp, and the dark water is
a stark contrast to the snowdraped islands. It is quiet,
peaceful. Finnhamn, Möja and
Sandhamn are some of the
islands you can visit in winter.
You can also take a guided
tour in the city, such as the
Stockholm Winter Tour, where
pea soup and punsch are
served on board.
In the vicinity
of Stockholm
Stockholm is so much more than a metropolis. Numerous other experiences await you
just a short trip from downtown. The white archipelago boats, a natural component of the
urban landscape, will take you out to the many islands of the archipelago quickly. It’s easy
to take a bus or boat to charming little towns that are rich with history, beautiful castles,
gorgeous environments and much more. Here, we’ll share some of the many excursions
that can be taken in the Stockholm region.
