TISP Technology and Innovation for Smart Publishing A thematic network Cristina Mussinelli – AIE – [email protected] Assises du livre numérique – Paris - 4 November 2013 With the support of A brief introduction TISP is a thematic network supported by the European Commission within the ICT PSP program. It aims at fostering the meeting between publishing companies and ICT enterprises, in order to stimulate new partnerships and business models. The issue • Fill the gap between publishing and ICT industries, making available expertise and tools on innovation and technology to publishing industry Key objectives • Fostering business innovation in publishing and ICT sector, through sharing knowledge and analysis of market trends and benchmarking with existing business cases • Supporting policy innovation at national and EU level, through provision of policy recommendations elaborated jointly by the two communities Duration • 3 years: January 2013 - December 2015 2 The consortium 25 partners coordinated by AIE: • 2 European umbrella organisations (FEP, DE) • 3 international book fairs (London and Frankfurt Book Fairs, Children’s Book Fair) • 4 academic and cultural institutions (iMinds, JGU-BSM, HKU, FGSR) • 10 publishing industry national representatives (AIE, MVB, LLA, FGEE, BUBOK, ABK, CCIS-SPA, PIK, Boek, PA) • 6 ICT industry national representatives (ANITEC, IVSZ, MEDRA, APDETIC, INFOBALT, AMETIC) 3 The consortium 12 countries covered Belgium Bulgaria German Hungary Italy Lithuania Netherlands Poland Romania Slovenia Spain United Kingdom 4 Activities and tools Relevant topics Relevant topics Smart book 5 Events Political reccomen dations Activities and tools Relevant topics • user friendly right management • e-commerce and eBook distribution • educational publishing • technological standards and interoperability • cross-media storytelling in children's publishing • social reading • accessibility • e-skills for publishers Events • When: 4 events each year, at least 12 events during the project life span • Where: in occasion of the most important fairs of both the sectors and during international conferences • Type: workshops, seminars, institutional meetings, conference panels 6 Activities and tools Smart book An informative online resource which will gather materials resulting from the network activities. It will be an instrument of update for professionals of both the sectors and a reference about subjects dealing with innovation in European publishing. • Materials: articles, reports of the events, market studies and business cases • Online since March 2014 Political recommendations resulting from feedbacks of the TISP events, political recommendations elaborated by the umbrella organizations (FEP and DE) will be addressed to the institutions, at national and European level. 7 Past events and themes 8 • June 2013, Editech, Milan: “Sailing against the tide. They can contribute • by attending the events, which occur on the whole European territory • by participating to the discussion on the dedicated Linkedin group • by sharing experiences and business cases Everybody interested in collaboration between publishers and ICT can contribute to TISP and take advantage from it. 10 An open discussion The discussion goes on in a dedicated LinkedIn group: «Technology and innovation for smart publishing».
