The figure below identifies the minimum requirements for installation of mount onto a steel stud structure. If the structure or its components do not meet these requirements contact the mount manufacturer for specific instructions before attempting installation. It should also be noted that no other equipment should be mounted to the same stud. 16" (on center) Studs Short Throw Mount Installation Location (Must be centered over two studs, OR mounted at center to single stud.) If back side of wall is unfinished, drywall must be installed to a minimum of one stud left and right of the studs being used to install the mount. Drywall must be secured to studs using screws spaced a maximum of 10" apart along stud. There must be a minimum of 1-7/8" (48mm) clearance inside wall FRONT Drywall **1/2" minimum Drywall Thickness (Both Sides of Stud) **See hazard statement on page 2! Steel Stud (2 x 4 / 25ga minimum) Stud type and structural strength must conform to the North American Specification for the Design of Cold-Formed Steel Structural Members. [362, 125 18, C-Shape, S - Stud Section] 6 Installation Instructions MSP-DCCUST2 ASSEMBLY AND INSTALLATION Mounting Wall Plate and Brackets The MSP-DCCUST2 short throw projector mount is designed to be mounted to solid concrete, hollow concrete block, 2" x 4" wood studs (16" on center), or steel studs (16" on center). 1. Assembling Wall Plate to Brackets IMPORTANT ! : This step must be taken for BOTH single AND dual stud installations! 1. NOTE: When using the dedicated screen/white board, the distance between the lower mounting holes on lower dual stud bracket (center) on projector mount wall bracket and mounting holes (center) on screen/white board bracket is 6-5/8" [inset graphic in Figure 2 (See Figure 2)]. This measurement will be used rather than "vertical distance" measurement. Other measurements related to the dedicated screen/white board are indicated in Figure 2 and install template as 87WB. Attach wall plate (B) to two dual stud brackets (G) using four 5/16" lock nuts (HF). (See Figure 1) (G) 1 (HF) x 4 Using a stud finder for wood or steel stud installations, mark four preliminary mounting holes over center of studs (16" on center) for dual stud installation, OR two preliminary mounting holes over center of stud (center of wall plate) for single stud installation. 2. Determine the image/screen diagonal measurement. (See Figure 2) 3. Determine where center of image will be located. (See Figure 2) 4. Using chart on install template (J) (See Figure 2), determine correct vertical distance for image diagonal measurement. 5. Measure up the correct vertical distance from top of image to bottom of wall bracket location. (See Figure 2) NOTE: Vertical distance is measured from bottom of wall bracket to top of projected image, NOT top of screen/ white board frame. (B) 6. Figure 1 16" Attach install template (J) to wall, aligning the template’s Center of Image indicator and bottom edge of template with locations determined in Steps 3 and 5. Using template, mark four mounting holes (dual stud) as shown on install template (J), or two mounting holes (single stud) in wall plate. (See Figure 3) 2. Drill one 3/8" x 3" deep hole at one of the marked locations in wall. (See Figure 3) 3. Install either one Fischer UX10 x 60 anchor [Part number 077871] (not included) or one Toggler A8/AF8 anchor (not included) into one of the drilled holes. (See Figure 3) 4. Install one Grade 2 or better 5/16 x 2-1/2" hex head lag screw (not included) through one Grade 2 or better 5/16" washer (not included), one mounting hole in wall bracket and into one Fischer or Toggler anchor (not included). (See Figure 3) 1 5. Level wall bracket using attached bubble level. 2 6. Make any necessary corrections to remaining mounting hole marking(s). 7. Wood Studs 1. Using template, mark four mounting holes (dual stud) as shown on install template (J), or two mounting holes (single stud) in wall plate. (See Figure 4) 2. Drill one 7/32" x 2-1/2" deep hole at marked location in wall. (See Figure 4) 3. Install one Grade 2 or better 5/16 x 2-1/2" hex head lag screw (not included) through one Grade 2 or better 5/16" washer (not included), hole in wall bracket and into drilled hole. (See Figure 4) 8 4. Level wall bracket using attached bubble level. 5. Make any necessary corrections to remaining mounting hole marking(s). 6. Repeat Steps 2 and 3 for remaining mounting hole(s). NOTE: Proceed to Installing Short Throw Projector Arm to Bracket section to continue installation. Installation Instructions MSP-DCCUST2 Steel Studs IMPORTANT ! : See Site Requirements section before proceeding with Steel Studs installation to ensure installation site meets requirements! The drywall must have a minimum thickness of 1/2"! 1. Using template, mark four mounting holes (dual stud) as shown on install template (J), or two mounting holes (single stud) in wall plate. (See Figure 5) 2. Drywall Plastic Straps Drill one 1/2" x 1" hole at marked location on wall. (See Figure 5) 3 x4 Figure 6 (Dual stud) 4. Holding plastic straps on anchor, pull anchor away from wall until channel rests flush behind wall making sure anchor channel is positioned vertically on stud. (See Figure 7) 5. Slide plastic cap on anchor towards wall until flange of cap is flush with wall. (See Figure 7) Steel Stud Drywall 1 x4 2 Plastic Cap (Single stud) 4 5 anchor x 4 Anchor Metal Channel 1 (side view) x2 2 Figure 7 6. 3 Snap off plastic straps on anchor at wall by pushing side to side, snapping off straps level with flange of plastic cap. Make any necessary corrections to remaining mounting hole marking(s). 4 (HD) x 2 11. Repeat Steps 2 through 8 for remaining mounting hole(s). WARNING: IMPROPER INSTALLATION CAN LEAD TO EQUIPMENT FALLING CAUSING SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT! Over tightening of mounting hardware can damage the steel studs. DO NOT over tighten mounting hardware! Installing Short Throw Projector Arm to Bracket 1. Attach arm adjust plate (C) to wall plate ensuring that adjust plate tabs fit into notches on wall plate (B). 2. Insert and slightly tighten one 1/4-20 x 1-1/4" button head cap screw (HE). (See Figure 10) (B) Figure 12 Projector Installation (C) WARNING: Exceeding the weight capacity can result in serious personal injury or damage to equipment! It is the installer’s responsibility to make sure the weight of the projector does not exceed 25 lbs (11.3 kg). 1 2 (HE) Figure 10 10 1. Insert and slightly tighten three M4 x 10mm Phillips pan head screws (HA) into the projector threaded inserts. (See Figure 13) 2.
