The College Board Academy offers an array of high-level courses for students who
are highly motivated for high achievement in all academic disciplines. You will
be enrolled in Advanced Placement and Honors courses throughout your years
at Edison, sharpening your intellect by challenging it. Through this academy, you
can earn college and high school credit at the same time, through dual-enrollment
partnerships with Miami Dade College and Florida International University.

Health and public Affairs Academy
Whether you dream of running your own business or serving others as a first responder in medical
emergencies, you will need ingenuity to make it come true. The Health and Public Affairs Academy can
help, giving you both the skills and the pride to succeed in your chosen pursuit: Entrepreneurship or First
Responders.
Entrepreneurship
Entrepreneurs are the people who create small businesses to serve needs in their communities. In Edison’s
entrepreneurship program, you will improve your technology skills, study economic and legal aspects
of the business world and learn to write a business plan, market your products and services and work
with vendors, manufacturers and customers in different countries. You will have the opportunity to earn
high school and college credit at the same time, through a dual-enrollment partnership with Miami Dade
College. After completion of this program, you will be qualified for jobs in the retail, hospitality and
tourism industries.
First Responders
First responders are the first people to arrive at the scene of an emergency. In this program, you will
apply your knowledge of science and math to basic emergency medical care, learning new skills and
earning emergency medical technician credits at Miami Dade College plus your CPR card along the way.
You will learn by doing, getting hands-on experience in taking blood pressure and giving basic emergency
care, and through real-world field trips to operating rooms and trauma centers. When you complete
this program, you may apply for jobs as a dispatcher, ambulance driver or other emergency service
professional, or train for firefighting and medical fields. Edison’s first responders program is offered in
conjunction with Miami Dade College and the City of Miami Fire-Rescue Department.

International Studies and finance Academy
In Edison’s International Studies and Finance Academy, you will learn what makes the world
spin—and how to put your own spin it.
International Studies
Through intensive instruction in the humanities plus a world language of your choice, you will
gain deep knowledge about other countries and cultures and become fluent in at least one
language beyond English. Your coursework will include two courses in your chosen language
(one in grammar, vocabulary, and writing; the other in oral communication) plus classes in world
geography, history and the arts. On completing this program, you will be qualified to work as a
translator or interpreter in your chosen language.
Finance
If you are looking for a career in banking, mortgage lending, investing, accounting and other
fields in the international financial services industry, this is the program for you. You will study
your academic courses in English and a second language of your choice, and you will learn from
field experiences with international banks and other global financial institutions headquartered in
Miami, the financial hub of the Americas. When you graduate, you will have the skills to work as a
translator or interpreter in the financial services sector, here or abroad.

Through Edison’s Visual and Performing Arts Academy, you will get an intensive education in the
art of your choice, gaining self-understanding and a rigorous grounding in the core academic
subjects along the way. You’ll work harder than you’ve ever worked in your life—and you’ll have
the time of your life doing it!
Whether you want to sing or play; produce or perform; dance or act; prepare culinary delights;
sculpt, paint or draw, you will be taught by the best teachers—accomplished artists in their own
right—beside an array of guest artists, combining time-honored techniques with fresh methods,
state-of-the-art equipment and the best materials.
Artists-in-Residence Program
Celebrated painters, musicians, composers, writers, and other visual, literary and performing
artists will come to Edison to hold master classes in their respective fields. World-renowned
painter Daniel Bottero will be the first, teaching monthly and guiding Edison students in
painting a mural at our school.
