Pola Negri was Ayn Rand’s first published work,
released just before Rand left Russia in 1925; it is
one of only two works by Rand in Russian. Her
second book, Hollywood: American City of Movies
(p. 79), was published without her permission after
she had left the Soviet Union, and published under
the name Alisa Rosenbaum. The work was only
recently attributed to Rand in 1994 after a Russian
researcher looked into the book’s origins.

“PSG” (Cyrillic); verso with remains of an old

Aleksei Faiko’s melodrama, Ozero Liul’—
first staged at the Theatre of Revolutionary

Meiekhold, with design by the young artists
Viktor Shestakov. ”Galadzhev’s many renderings of drama, ballet, cabaret, and film productions in the 1920s, often reproduced as
covers or accompaniments of text in magazines such as Zrelishcha, if collected and collated, would constitute a vivid panorama of the Constructivist
performing arts. ” (Bolt, vol. II, p. 191) Provenance: Collection of Prince Nikita D. Labanov-Rostovsky and Nina Labanov-Rostovsky, London.
