Rob Higgins was elected to represent District 1 on the
board of directors of Northeastern REMC during the electric
cooperative’s Annual Meeting and Member Appreciation Night
September 6. Higgins is the Assistant Superintendent of the
Electric Department for the City of Auburn, Indiana.
Daniel Linnemeier, District 8, and Jane Scott, District 9, were
reelected to the board during the annual meeting. Linnemeier
has been a director for three years, Scott has served for nine.
Bruce Heffelfinger, a 34 year Northeastern REMC board
member, was acknowledged for his years of service on the board.
This Spring he announced he would not seek reelection when his
term expired in September. Heffelfinger had served as board vice
chairman, two terms as treasurer, and on various local and state
committees. His former district is now represented by Higgins.

Did you know that we offer propane?
Not only does Northeastern REMC provide electricity to your homes and
businesses, we can also supply you with all your propane needs with a quick,
easy and very unique service that can save you money!
Through our subsidiary, Crossroads Energy, your price-per-gallon for propane
is guaranteed for the entire year. This is a huge advantage over our competitors.
We do not come in with a low “summer-fill” or seasonal promotional price and
then escalate the price later when you need propane the most. And…you are
only charged for the amount of propane you use, when you use it. You won’t have
to worry about watching your levels or how much you are going to have to pay
per-gallon in mid-winter if you run low.
Our new, locked-in price for the season is only $2.329 per gallon.
Customers who own their own tank will only pay $2.279 per gallon. These new
lower prices are in effect NOW!
If you use propane, we encourage you to check out the details of this unique
program by visiting our website – nremc.com - or by calling our Member Services
Department at 625-3700 or 244-6111.
Three area groups benefit from REMC
member generosity
A few pennies here, a nickel or two
there, can add up quickly. And that is
the idea behind Northeastern REMC’s
Operation RoundUp program. Many of
Northeastern’s members volunteer to
round-up their monthly electric bill to
the nearest dollar and donate that “spare
change” to ORU, who then distributes the
money collected to needy individuals and
organizations in the local community.
This program, funded solely on the
generosity of these members, has made a
big impact on the tight budgets of several
organizations over the years.
The Operation RoundUp Board of
Trustees met recently and awarded funds
to three local groups. The Center for
Whitley County Youth received funds to
support their NiteLife program. Monies
will help cover event and supply expenses
for providing weekly events for hundreds
of area high school students. The
Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home will
designate their funds to their Pet Peace
of Mind program. This program helps
hospice patients, many who are too ill
and have no money, pay for vet services,

medications, food and other services
for their beloved pet companions.
Junior Achievement of Whitley
County received assistance to fund
first through fourth grade programs
at Mary Raber Elementary School and
to support their involvement in the
Biztown learning program.
Please consider taking part in
this charitable program by simply
rounding up your bill to the next
dollar. That is just a few cents a month!
Your contributions are tax-deductible
and will be put to use right here in our
community, where it is needed most.
To take part in ORU please call our
office (244-6111/625-3700) or visit our
website at www.nremc.com. Signing
up is very easy and will mean so much
to those in need.

Satisfaction scores climbing - aiming for 90 by 2018
At Northeastern REMC, we have one
focus, and that is the members of this
cooperative. It’s reflected in both our
vision and mission statements. One of the
ways we measure member satisfaction
is by participating in the American
Customer Satisfaction Index Survey.
This is the only national, cross-industry
benchmark, of customer satisfaction in
the United States. We are ranked against
other businesses, large and small, not
just utility companies.
Based on member responses, during
2013 our average ranking was 84.5
percent. We are pleased that in the first
two quarters of 2014 our rating increased
Vision Statement
"Service, Satisfaction and Safety Second to None!"
Mission Statement
"To meet our members' on-going
needs for reliable energy services at
a good value while meriting trust
and confidence."
– to 86 percent, our best score since
we began participating in 2001. Our
score is higher than any investor-owned
utility in the nation and even higher
than some very popular companies
such as Starbucks! Our goal is to earn a
satisfaction ranking of 90 by 2018.
Thank you to all members who have
taken the time to respond to this survey.
We value your feedback and your support.
