Our Terraplane X is the pack for those

stop. We took our Terraplane and
added stretch Spandura panels, so if
you fill up past your limit...DWIS

The ArcFlex framing exceeds the
burden of proof standard, carrying
your overload so comfortably you'll
forget you've overstuffed it. This is one

No, our TerraPlane LTW hasn't become
anorexic. Packs don't eat, and the
weight loss hasn't detracted from our
athleticism. Our Terraplane is 10%
lighter, with improved performance. A
new body panel dissipates sweat more
efficiently to help keep you cool and
comfortable. Long-zip vertical pockets
give easy access for your on-trail
needs. Our wand/bottle pockets are
now removable for flexibility in use.
Most importantly our weight-loss
hasn't affected our weight-carrying.
Our ArcFlex framing still provides that
weight-less feeling. This pack started
the load carrying comfort revolution in
1975, and it's still the core pack of our
line.

The Terraframe is based on our
Terraplane with the distinct
advantages of our unique active
external frame. We took a traditional
rigid frame and added twin preflexed
fiberglass rods to actively transfer
weight to your hips. The result: a pack

carries well with less than fastidious

Travel, for many of us, is more than a two week vacation
situation. We travel for work, play and everything in
between. Realizing a lack of good quality travel productswith features we ourselves wanted but could never find on
current products-we started building our own. Out of this
impromptu test period came a new line of packs, duffels
and accessories built for those looking for more in their
travel gear. We approached the design of this new series
in much the same way we approach any other pack
design: Focusing on load control, comfort, and durability
over the long haul. While some of us climb Mt. Rainier on
our days off, others of us might be climbing the stairs at
Machu Pichu. Both similar, but somewhat different
pursuits that require a good support system but different
pack bag features. Rather than building just another travel
pack, we borrowed two proven frame systems from our
existing line and designed the features around them.
Hence the tag line, "Packs that travel."
This is by no means the end of the story. Other items are
in the works to both support the pack features, but can
also stand on their own for use during those rare
occasions you are actually home. You know what they
say: Home is where your pack is.

Pack Sizing
In determining which size of pack and componentry is correct for
you, there is no substitute for actually trying a loaded pack on.
Pay a visit to a Dana Design dealer who's been trained in fitting
our packs by our factory technical staff. Currently ArcFlex,
ArcLight, and LoadMaster packs come with a comprehensive
Owners Manual. In these manuals you will find valuable
information on dialing in the use, as well as the care and feeding
for your Dana Design pack.
Step 1: To determine your correct size you must first measure
your torso length. Ask a friend to use a flexible tape measure (a
tailor's tape works best) to measure along the surface of your
back from your seventh cervical vertebra (the most prominent
bump on your neck) to a horizontal line across your back
connecting the outward protrusions of your hip crest (iliac crest).
Once you know your torso length use the chart to determine the
appropriate frame size.
Step 2: For the ArcFlex™, ArcLight™, LoadMaster™, Killer B™,
and CrossFlex™ series of packs, we offer sized belts to ensure a
comfortable carry. To determine the right size, you must measure
your hip circumference. A tailor's tape works best. Remember
that the hipbelt is wrapping around and cupping over your hip
bones, so be sure to measure the circumference of your hip
crests (see diagram), not your stomach. Once you've determined
your hip circumference, use the chart to determine the right size
belt.

Step 3: Silhouette Shoulder Pads are designed to work with your
body's shape. Our Silhouette Shoulder Pads come on most
models of our backpacks. The shoulder pads are built to conform
to highly contoured areas. In general, many woman and small
men will use size small. These take into account anatomical
nuances in and around the neck and upper chest. Taller women
(5'8" and up) typically use medium pads. Most men typically use
medium pads, while tall (6'3" plus) or thick-chested guys (46 +)
use large or extra large pads. For our new Day Tech and Factor
packs, we have incorporated a simple C shoulder pad that allows
a broader sweet spot to the fit. Generally, the adjusting buckle on
this pad should terminate a rough minimum of 2" below the
armpit. Ask your retailer to help determine which size is
appropriate for you.

Roll of Clothing
Want to be comfortable on the trail? Well your pack plays the
biggest role in contributing to this goal. But that layer we call
clothing, buffer if you will, between you and your pack can make
or break the whole package. Consider this when choosing what to
wear on a pack trip or just to go try a new pack on. Look for
clothes that place seams out the way of the harnessing, don't
restrict your movements, and wick or dry quickly. Studying your
clothing system for these details can make a good trip turn into a
great trip. Since the obvious isn't always so obvious, here are

some examples: Guys that wear the burly man belts and jeans
need to remember that all that material wrinkles and creates
pressure around your tender under- belly. Not so great. Girls with
frilly undies: frequently you have hardware where your packs
shoulder pads come over your collarbones as well as where the
pack rests on your back. Options are plain, put on a sports bra, or
in the tradition of the 60s don't wear one at all.

Why Dana Design
We use this stuff ourselves. Would you design Habanero eyedrops? We wouldn't either. So for 17 years we've been using and building packs, as well
as listening and learning from our fellow enthusiasts as to what essential features are needed to give each of us the warm and fuzzies when out in the
cold and prickly elements. We all like to get out and have fun, so a pack that’s durable and versatile is a key starting point. And while we all live in different
places, one thing remains constant: Human Power. Which means that having a pack that lets you haul your toys (and summit treats) without adding a
bunch of its own weight is vital. We then make sure that these packs are comfortable for everybody out there, no matter what their shape, and then it’s
up to you to decide where you’re going to end up.
Quality is implicit. Sure it looks good on display, but have you seen this stuff up close? Whether it’s weight-savings, material integrity, or just plain old
safety, we’ve tested each design exhaustively to insure that we have precisely examined every feature so that they will each do their job in concert with
one another and seamlessly. After all, you don’t want to think about saying, “Whoops!” when you’re in the shadow of some unpronounceable peak in a
country that you can’t remember from your 5th grade Geography class. Yes, we want YOU to be comfortable using our toys, but WE want to be comfortable
using our toys too.
At Dana we work hard, but we play hard too. Since our work helps us play and vice versa, we eagerly go through each generation of prototypes and
make the right tweaks. Every round of testing, good or bad, we figure out how that affects future designs and adjust from there. By the time our product
hits the store we’ve streamlined the features and materials to the point that you and we both know that this is a product that will outlast everything else
in your gear inventory, even those stinky-but-oh-so-comfortable boots that you just can’t bring yourself to get rid of.

Simply put, men and women are the same, but different. Both enjoy what Mother Nature has to offer, and a little downtime in the untamed areas does nothing but good
regardless of one’s gender. However, the dimensions of the overall design change slightly between sexes (this was reviewed in your middle school health class, remember?),
and this series dimensions compensate for that difference. Our T9 packs, designed for woman with the help of female engineers & researchers, keep our proven ArcActive
technologies but differ to address a woman specific fit. These have the solid Dana quality you love with similar features you trust, but slight volume tweaks to aid with
female’s lower center of gravity, and harnessing construction that embrace a women’s body. So yeah; the same, but different.

Its not that women don’t have any different outdoor interests than men, it just everybody has different bodies. The T9 Series grasps female differences in harnessing and
