MEDIA & TECHNICAL INFORMATION JASPER SOMSEN – DOUBLE BASS BIOGRAPHY JASPER SOMSEN - English Dutch double bassist & composer Jasper Somsen (1973) studied Jazz and Classical double bass at the conservatories of Utrecht and Amsterdam, The Netherlands. During his career Jasper has performed with a.o. Joey Calderazzo, Enrico Pieranunzi, Bob Sheppard, Justin Faulkner, André Ceccarelli, Bert van den Brink, John Engels, Toon Roos, Karel Boehlee, Hans van Oosterhout, Tineke Postma, Jasper Blom, Anton Goudsmit, Jeroen van Vliet, Oene van Geel, Ferdinand Povel, Yuri Honing, Rita Reys, Eric Vloeimans, Michiel Borstlap, Jeroen van Vliet, Nancy Marano and singer/songwriter Lori Lieberman. As a bandleader/producer he released two highly acclaimed albums with the Jasper Somsen Group: "Dreams, Thoughts & Poetry" (The Music of Enrico Pieranunzi - 2010) and “Sardegna” (2013) Challenge Records International. Jasper can be heard at more than 20 CD and DVD productions in both Jazz, Classical and Film music. Many of these albums he was involved both as a bass player and (co)producer. He performed in a.o. Belgium, Germany, France, Spain, Switzerland, Hungary, Italy & Sardinia, Poland and Finland. Besides a performer Jasper Somsen was appointed as a (guest) teacher at the conservatories in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht and Arnhem. Also he is the programmer of the international concert series Jazz in Wageningen, at his hometown Wageningen (The Netherlands). BIOGRAFIE JASPER SOMSEN - Nederlands De Nederlandse contrabassist & componist Jasper Somsen (1973 – Wageningen) studeerde zowel jazz als klassiek contrabas aan de conservatoria in Utrecht en Amsterdam. Tijdens zijn veelzijdige carrière speelde hij met vele beroemde musici in m.n. de (inter)nationale jazzscene w.o.: Joey Calderazzo, Enrico Pieranunzi, Bob Sheppard, Justin Faulkner, André Ceccarelli, Bert van den Brink, John Engels, Toon Roos, Karel Boehlee, Hans van Oosterhout, Tineke Postma, Jasper Blom, Anton Goudsmit, Jeroen van Vliet, Oene van Geel, Ferdinand Povel, Yuri Honing, Rita Reys, Eric Vloeimans, Michiel Borstlap, Jeroen van Vliet, Nancy Marano en singer/songwriter Lori Lieberman.. Hij trad op in o.m. België, Duitsland, Frankrijk, Spanje, Zwitserland, Hongarije, Italië & Sardinië, Polen en Finland. Jasper is/was als gastdocent verbonden aan de conservatoria van Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht en Arnhem. Daarnaast geeft hij les aan zijn eigen Bass Academy in Wageningen.
