It is the space where your golf ball lands after flight is discontinued and where it ultimately comes to rest once motion is terminated. No, this is not a novel concept. It is simply something rarely seen at our golf course for most of 2015. Enjoy the new playing conditions while they last. Our annual three day member-guest event was just concluded and I’ve been told that everyone was a winner this year. The weather was fantastic, the golf course was beautiful, the cuisine was never better, the entertainment was great, and the setting and ambiance was unparalleled. Kudos to all that participated as players and staff. To the players, thank you for taking the time out of your busy summer schedule to share some time with your friends or family. To the staff, thanks again for making everyone welcome. Your enthusiasm for this event makes this as much a celebration as it is a golf tournament. As we approach the latter part of summer, the board of directors will be conducting a review of golf course operations. This will include an examination of building and equipment needs as well as maintenance and improvement projects that will need to be considered. This review is intended to identify associated costs and prioritize those projects. Your input is vitally important as your support will be necessary for anything that we do. An informational meeting will take place on Wednesday, September 16th. No votes will be taken at this meeting and all discussion will be for the purpose of disseminating information and measuring what the vast majority of the membership would like to see happen. I would encourage all to attend. As always, take the opportunity to enjoy a round of golf with friends or family. Six months from now, you’ll wish you had. Jim Weinheimer Dessert of the Month Reese’s Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie Back by popular demand In House Smoked Beef Brisket Drink Specials The 19th Hole A refreshing mix of vodka, orange juice, pineapple juice and a splash of sierra mist Spiked Lemonade Fruit Punch Red wine, pink lemonade and a splash of sierra mist From the Pro Shop Steve Crane, Golf Professional –– Coming Events –– CRANE’S TIP Enjoy the game. Golf can be very frustrating but if you let bad shots bother you, it will affect the rest of your day. Always concentrate on one shot at a time. Never look back, never look forward. Golf is as much a mental game as it is physical. ETIQUETTE It is everyone’s responsibility to maintain an acceptable pace of play. Play ready golf when you can. Be ready when it is your turn. Walk or drive directly to your ball. Line your putts up while others are putting. Park carts, pull carts, and bags on the side of the green that leads to the next tee. If you have a problem with the group in front of you, call the pro shop and we will handle it. RULES QUESTION What happens when a player fails to hole out? ANSWER: In match play, if a player’s putt is conceded by his/ her opponent, there is no penalty and next shot is considered to be holed. However, in stroke play, Rule 3-2 states: If a competitor fails to hole out at any hole and does not correct his mistake before he makes a stroke at the next teeing ground, he is disqualified. If a player lifts his ball without marking, he may replace it with a one stroke penalty and putt out. It is up to every competitor to protect the field and make sure these rules are followed.
