Licensing Requirements
The information contained below is designed to provide a summary of the minimum education, experience, and examination
requirements established by the Connecticut Real Estate Commission. The information provided below can be found on the Board’s
website. However, we recommend you contact the Real Estate Commission for more detailed information and for any changes which
may have occurred in the Connecticut Administrative Code.
Salesperson Pre-License Requirements
Successfully complete 60 hours of Real Estate Principles and Practices from an approved school
Submit an application, an application fee, and the required documents to PSI licensure: certification (PSI).
Once you have met the requirements, you will be issued an Examination Eligibility postcard. Note: This application can be found at
end of the Candidate Information Bulletin on PSI’s website.
Pass an examination to confirm that you have attained at least a minimum level of knowledge regarding the laws and regulations
concerning the real estate profession
Submit the original examination passing score report(s), and the initial license fee, as indicated on such documents, to the Licensing
Services Division. Payment of the license fee MUST be made within two (2) years of passing the last portion of the examination;
otherwise a new application, along with the appropriate fee, must be submitted to PSI in order to be eligible to retest.
Once the Division has verified that you have met all of the requirements for licensure, they will issue the appropriate license.

Broker Pre-License Requirements
At least 2 years of licensure as a Real Estate Salesperson
60 Classroom hours of Real Estate Principles and Practices
30 Classroom hours of Appraisal I
30 Classroom hours of Related Subjects in Real Estate

NOTE:
Brokers - If you passed the Connecticut Broker full licensing examination between 4/1/2010 and 3/31/2012, you do not need to take
the continuing education courses. (The date used is not the issuance date of your first license, it is the exam date.)
Salespersons – If you passed the Connecticut Salesperson full licensing examination between 6/1/2010 and 5/31/2012, you do not
need to take the continuing education courses. (The date used is not the issuance date of your first license, it is the exam
date.)

Continuing Education Requirements
Salespersons must complete 12 hours of education by May 31st on even number years
Brokers must complete 12 hours of education by March 31st on even number years
Of the 12 hours, 3 hours cover the mandatory topic “CT Real Estate Agency Fiduciary Duties and Review and Law Update”
Another option is to contact PSI Examination Services to take the Connecticut Continuing Education Examination. If passed your CE
