News from the BUCS (Brothers United in Christian Service)
The BUCS Bible Study and Grill Night was a wonderful success. We had 18 different
men participate and averaged about 14 men in attendance each week over the 5 session
study from the story of Samson in Judges. We learned a lot more about each other and
about what it means to be a “warrior” for God and how to stand up and “fight” in a Godlike manner for what is right in our church, our family, our community and in our nation.
Thanks to the session leaders Dan Hallinan and Jerry Cummings and to our Grillmaster,
Russ Cottrell.
The BUCS are in the midst of planning some summer socials
and gatherings and more news will be forthcoming in the future on these events.
Together in Christ, Craig

Samaritan Fund:
This year’s Bilingual Vacation Bible School is entitled: Surprise! A Journey of Forgiveness. It will be the week of July 25th through July 29th from 6:00pm until 8:30pm. We
will be taking a thrilling voyage through Genesis --- from Canaan to Egpyt, from rejection to
reconciliation alongside Joseph. It is for preschool through sixth grade and there will be a
class offered for youth/adults. There is a supper offered at 6:00pm prior to Vacation Bible
School all five nights. So we hope you will come and join us for this exciting voyage with
Joseph. We hope you will mark your calendars to come and be a part of this exciting
week. We need several areas of help so if you feel you would like to help with VBS this
year, please fill out the yellow card in the bulletins on Sundays with your name, phone number and e-mail address. You will be contacted. Or you may call the church office to volunteer. Once again, it takes a lot of hands to put on a VBS for one week. You will be blessed
by helping as well as being touched in so many ways.
From Mother’s Day to Father’s Day, we are invited to give to the Samaritan Fund. Benevolent assistance through this program has been given to VUMH communities since 1948.
Gifts through the Samaritan Offering help to ensure the personal security and peace of
mind of our most vulnerable residents, those who have outlived their monetary resources,
and through no fault of their own, can no longer afford the full cost of their care. Samaritan Offering gifts may be designated to any of our VUMH communities. Undesignated
gifts will be used where the need is greatest. You can also donate online at
www.vumh.org or mail to VUMH, 5101 Cox Rd, Suite 225, Glen Allen, VA 23060.
How do you say “Thank You” to a wonderful
church family?

Come and See:
Persons are needed to open the church for Weddings, Funerals, Special
Events, etc. These could happen any day of the week/weekend at hours from
8am to 10pm. If you are interested in helping, please contact the church office or Harry Newman (804-271-0230 or [email protected]). This would be
a list of people that could be called upon and asked if you are available. Right
now we are forming that list. Once all interested parties have stepped forward, we will hold a meeting to discuss responsibilities.
The Come & See small group is now meeting every
other Saturday (not on Wednesdays anymore). We
are also reconsidering the time of our meeting, and
we welcome any feedback from our group members!
We will be having a day-time retreat at the home of
one of our members on Saturday June 4th. This will
be a special time of devotion, fellowship, and enjoying nature! Please
RSVP with Sarah or Tammy. Our next
meeting after that will be on June 18th.
Ramsey Mission BBQ is back!
$8.00 for one pint, or $7.50 for
two or more. Ask any mission
team member or
[email protected]. Pick it up
on Sunday June 5th!
