Presentation to the Annual General Shareholders Meeting 04th March 2009 Capital Structure & Cash Position Shares outstanding 53.1 million Options 3.6 million Share price - (03 March 2009) C$0.05 (TSXV) US$0.05 (BVL) Market cap $2.7 million Current cash position $1.54 million G&A annual cost – Canada $200,000 G&A annual cost – Peru $400,000 Properties care and maintenance $200,000 $800,000 2 Share Price 3 Problems facing Alturas Money is running low Difficult to generate fresh news Projects are in exploration stage No development/production stage projects in portfolio Very difficult to raise money for exploration projects in this market Even if we could raise small packets of money (say C$ 1-2 million, very large dilution would be involved at current share price) Nobody knows how long market will remain depressed!! Conflict with Inversiones Sol needs to be resolved 4 Strengths of Alturas Listings on TSX-V Tier 1 and BVL Projects have spread of commodities: Gold and Copper Projects are in an attractive jurisdiction, Peru Projects are drill ready and attractive Strong hard rock expertise in gold and copper Strong technical and operational experience in Peru and Americas 5 Exploration Highlights - 2008 Key results/progress for 2008 • Drilling programs completed over Baños del Indio Au and Huajoto Zn targets (7,419 meters) • Surface exploration completed over Chapi Chapi Cu-Au, Sombrero Cu-Au and Ccaccapaqui Au-Ag • Drill-ready gold targets now defined in four projects (Chapi Chapi, Sombrero, Ccaccapaqui and Huajoto) in the form of strong coincident surface gold (+-copper), alteration and geophysical anomalies 7 Summary by project Principal Projects Chapi Chapi – 1:5,000 geological mapping, soil geochemistry and trenching completed. Large geochem. anomalies defined: Cu-Au skarns (Chapi Chapi Corridor), Au in fractured quartzites (Huarajo); Sombrero – induced polarization survey completed: large, strong chargeability anomalies detected beneath surface Cu-Au anomalies. Negotiations with Aceros Arequipa Huajoto – 2,501 m diamond drilling of base metal targets completed in September 2008; Significant Zn-Cu intervals intersected in a few widely spaced drillholes. Large Au target remains largely untested; Ccaccapaqui – Surface geochemistry defined strong Au-Ag anomalies in high sulfidation alteration that require drill testing Baños del Indio – 4,918 m RC drilling of high sulfidation Au-Ag targets completed in February 2008; No significant results. One untested conceptual target remains; Earlier Stage Projects Callejones – Search for partners continues with some expressions of interest Pampa Colorada – IOCG Cu-Au. On hold. La Divina – Low-sulfidation gold. On hold 8 Property location – South Peru 9 Property location – North Peru 10 Utupara-Chapi Chapi Copper-Gold 11 Chapi Chapi - location 12 Chapi Chapi - Highlights 2008 1:5,000 geological mapping and soil/rock geochemical sampling over key targets completed Chapi Chapi Target: •+ 3 kilometer long corridor of contact magnetite skarns defined with very strong copper-gold anomalism.
