BHASKARACHARYA-A GREAT MATHEMATICIAN
Triumphant is the illustrious Bhaskaracharya whose feats are revered by both the wise
and the learned. A poet endowed with fame and religious merit, he is like the crest on a
peacock.
Bhaskaracharya is the most well known mathematician of ancient India today. He was also a
great astronomer of his times. He is often described as a mathematician-astronomer of exceptional
abilities. He composed his masterpiece Siddhanta-Siromani at the age of thirty-six in the year 1150
A.D.. Siddhanta-Siromani is divided into four parts; Lilavati (arithmetic), Bijaganita (algebra),
Goladhyaya (celestial globe), and Grahaganita (mathematics of the planets). Bhaskaracharya has
given simple methods to find the squares, square roots, cube, and cube roots of big numbers. He
has proved the Pythagoras theorem and given an approximate value of PI as 22/7. He also wrote on
the gravitational force in his book titled “Surya Siddhant”. He reached to an understanding of the
number systems and solving equations that was not achieved in Europe for several centuries.
In many ways Bhaskaracharya represents the peak of mathematical knowledge in the 12th
century.

HUMAN COMMUNICATION
Dr.MadhulikaBajpai, M.Phil, Ph.D. (D.U)
Humans are natures’ best creation and understanding their psyche and exploring various facets and
nuances about human behaviour is one of the most wonderful and engaging journeys taken under the
discipline of Psychology. As various media would indicate that knowledge and application of Psychology
and its principles is the need of hour. From academic performance to mob mentality and making sense
of social fabric to understanding work behaviour, Psychology helps in unravelling the underlying issues
and suggesting possible solutions. As the name suggests, it is a window to an inner world which enriches
the experience of the outer world. With its very innovative and indigenous means of learning, it will
help you evolve better as an individual, student, professional and of course a better human being too.
The course curriculum would be taught with the help of lectures, group discussions, experiential
exercises, group projects, presentations, workshops and seminars. This unique course structure would
help not only in academic excellence but also prepare students for vocational expertise that will further
enhance one’s employability.

MATHEMATICS
1. Dr.Ragini Jindal, Ph.D. (CCS University, Meerut)
2. Dr.Neeru Sharma, Ph.D.(D.U)(Teacher- In- Charge)
Mathematics is one of the most fundamental and basic courses whose knowledge is indispensable in
almost every field. It is a fundamental part of human thought and logic, and integral to attempts at
understanding the world and ourselves. Mathematical knowledge plays a crucial role in understanding
the other fields such as science, social sciences, and even music and art.
On one hand many mathematicians pursue the subject for its sheer abstract beauty, at the applied end
of the spectrum there are many mathematicians who work in various aspects of the subject such as
theoretical sciences, financial mathematics or statistics, areas of acknowledged practical importance.
Mathematical methods are integral to the study of any field of engineering. Physics; Computer Science,
Electronics and Instrumentation engineering usually include courses in Calculus , Analysis, Differential
Equations, Linear Algebra , Statistics and Probability. Understanding and competence in applying these
fundamental mathematical tools is essential to do serious study in these fields. Progress in biomedical
research increasingly requires mathematical and computational approaches. Scientists experienced at
working at the interface of biology, mathematics and computation are greatly needed in this field.
Polymer science has provided us with a diverse host of new materials, thereby enhancing technological
advancement. The theoretical description of the properties of polymers has involved the use of a wide
range of mathematical sciences techniques. The role of mathematics in food technology and
microbiology is also immense. As an example, food processes, problems related to bacterial growth in
food and other areas of predictive microbiology are studied using mathematical modeling techniques.
