GENERAL BUSINESS:
Ross and Collene gave a run down on the run to Gosford Showground, Maitland Steamfest, and
the ever popular Mid-Week run to Ash Island. Vice-President Terry commented that although he
and Mary had enjoyed their recent holiday overseas, there is no place like home and is happy to
be back in their comfort zone. Terry also mentioned to visitors that we are a family friendly club
and prior to joining we ask they come to 3 events, either meetings or runs.
A big surprise came for our second youngest member Seth Lockwood, who’s eyes and mouth
opened up wide when he was presented with an extremely large chocolate birthday cake, to
celebrate with 54 members as well as visitors his 6th Birthday. The very large knife came out and
handed to Seth after blowing out his candles, and everyone was handed out a slice of his cake.

WALLSEND BUNNINGS NRVC CAR SHOW AND BBQ.
TO BE HELD SUNDAY 31st MAY, 2015.
Cnr. Sandgate and Minmi Road, Wallsend.
As a Major Sponsor of our car club, we have been asked by Bunnings to supply around 15 to 20 cars at their
Wallsend Store to help them celebrate their First Anniversary Festivities. This will be a great family days outing
along with the Newcastle Restored Vehicle club members cars and our ever popular BBQ sausage and onion
sandwiches. The cost per sandwich will be $2.50 with cold cans at $1.50 so please bring along with you some
small change.
To get a good parking spot you should possibly start arriving around 8am, this is not a designated car run, but a
goodwill gesture on behalf of our car club. We request members to please ring Neville on his mobile
0408 762 975 to let him know that your car will be on display. We are also asking for some volunteers to help
out with the BBQ area, which will be ongoing from 9am to 4pm…… Don’t forget your chair.

TILLIGERRY MOTORAMA – TANILBA BAY
SUNDAY 17TH MAY, 2015
Members met at 7.15 am and started on their way at 7.30am around 28 cars, 37 members and 6 visitors
attending. The sun was hiding under fifty shades of whites, greys, blues and black clouds, which gave an
impression that it was not going to be a very nice day. Looking south towards Gosford, there was still a hint of
fog around as well as around Cessnock area, south bound looked as if they were going to have a wet and cold
day, and whilst heading north seemed that the weather would be kind to all who attended, and actually ended up
a lovely warm winters day with no rain. Although out to sea looked quite dim and miserable.
Tilligerry Motorama was held in the RSL and Sports Club Grounds, to one side of the grounds looked that there
was one other large car club which didn’t turn up for the outing, whereas the NRVC had one very long line of
cars reaching all down the front fence of the car area. There were a couple of cars which were in our line up
which hadn’t been seen at club runs for some time, but were very much welcomed, besides some of our new
pending members.
Our BBQ was well prepared with Doris, Neville, Debbie, Sandra and Mary serving out Bacon, eggs, sausages,
steak and onions for members as well as cool drinks. Thank you for the welcomed meal.
The ground was rather soggy underneath, but overall everyone had a good day and enjoyed themselves.

The Story of our BF GT Cobra ( No.158 ) – Colin and Kim Broadbent
In 2009 we were helping a friend who was keen to buy a 30th Anniversary BF GT Cobra.Already owning a
1978 XC Cobra ( No.360 ), having been purchased in 1989 and fully restoring it (some old members will
remember our restoration as we were members in the NRVC through the 80’s early 90’s until work took us to
Sydney),we were of the opinion that in time ( probably 30 years plus !!) these new BF Cobras would possibly be
as collectable as the “old XC’s were becoming.
Colin had found a BF GT Cobra ( No.158) in Tasmania which was a low km and good value vehicle but our
friend was of the opinion that it would be “too hard “ to make the deal, buy it and then bring it back to the
mainland. It was then after a “light bulb moment “ we thought “Okay if Joe doesn’t want it ,why don’t we buy it and
have a “pidgeon pair “ ….. a 1978 XC Cobra and a BF GT Cobra.
Never say anything is impossible to Colin…. the deal was done, sight unseen, the Cobra was driven to the dock
of the Spirit of Tasmania and all on it’s lonesome it sailed across to Melbourne, where after flying down on
Jetstar from Williamstown ,we finally caught our first glimpse of the Cobra sitting proudly on the arrival dock
waiting for us.We then drove it all the way home to Newcastle with no “number plates” attached (we did have a
“permit to move certificate” ) with no policeman even pulling us over !!.... and putting another 1000 km on it’s low
4,500km odometer.
The Cobra attends Club Runs with the Sydney based GT Falcon Club and Mustang Club.In August last year
we drove with the Mustang Club from Sydney to the Melbourne Ford Broadmeadows Factory for a special
invitation for the promotional
“Pre Launching “ of the 2015 Mustang which will be sold in Australia.
Another few thousand kms were added to the odometer but it still only reads 13,520 and Colin reckons it must
be one of a select group of vehicles who’s “Warranty Life” had ran out before the actual Kilometres have “clicked”
over and it still has not required any service repair work.
Here is an extract from Shannons for anyone interested in the BF GT Cobra history:In 2007, Ford drew inspiration from the hallowed names of the past and recreated a legend with the limitededition FPV GT Cobra. Released at the Sydney Motor Show in both sedan and ute models, the new GT
celebrated the Cobra name last seen in the Seventies on the famous white and blue XC hardtops that scored a
memorable victory at Bathurst in 1977. Indeed, the BF GT Cobra was unveiled on a parade lap of Mount
Panorama before the 2007 Bathurst 1000, exactly 30 years after Colin Bond and Allan Moffat's triumphant 1-2
finish. As with the first Cobra, just 400 individually numbered examples of the new FPV GT Cobra sedan were
made available, snapped up by enthusiasts, many of whom already owned one of the original XC Cobras.
Mechanically, Ford kitted out the new Cobra with a 302kW 5.4-litre V8 with an upgraded engine management
system, increased compression ratio, re-profiled camshafts, valves and a new exhaust. A choice of manual or
auto gearboxes, each with six forward ratios and limited-slip diff as standard, were available along with upgraded
R-spec suspension and unique 19-inch alloy wheels. In the best Cobra tradition, all cars were finished in white
with twin blue racing stripes along with Cobra snake badges on the boot, sides and seats. To quote FPV's own
material, "The new FPV GT Cobra combines the original XC Cobra's bold styling with the latest in FPV
engineering and total performance."
