MID-WEEK RUN Thursday 15th October, 2015
Roving Reporter: Dianne Paoletti with Roving Photograper: Ruth Newcombe
With 5 cars and 8 people, we left from McDonalds Edgeworth at 9am and made our way to have a look at an old
antique shop at West Wallsend, much to our disappointment it wasn’t open. We hung around for a bit but the guy
who owned it was a no show. By this time we were all starving so we made our way to the Blue Gum Hills Tree
Tops picnic area, Minmi for morning tea. As our next stop was David’s home Cinema at Edgeworth, we decided to
take a detour back to West Wallsend to the antique shop where much to our delight it was open.
Well, What a place. There was everything from old hubcaps, pictures to old ashtrays, we even got to see Tony
Abbott in his budgie smugglers.
Our next stop was the Cinema and lunch where we met up with Lyn. We watched Charlie and Boots starring Paul
Hogan and Shane Jacobson. After the movie David gave us a quick talk on how his backyard Cinema came to be.
The midweek run Certificate was given this month to Hans and Beryl. This also was Fabio’s last midweek run due to
his work commitments. Thanks to everyone who came, it was a good day.

N.R.V.C. SPRING CRUIZ – 18TH OCTOBER, 2015
Roving Reporter and Photographer: Natalie Towndrow
The day has arrived October 18th 2015, NRVC Spring Cruiz-In at the Hunter Valley Gardens. My day
started at 5am, was the crack of dawn! It was slightly raining something we didn’t want.
When we arrived at Bunnings Wallsend it was an abundance of activity, cars coming and going and the
information tent busy. People directing traffic in and out of the car park safely.
It was great to see so many cars considering the weather was a little bleak to begin with. On the way up to
the gardens we saw a lot cars enjoying the cruiz, and we could see a little bit of blue sky showing its face.
Thank you Don & Sandra for bringing your caravan up for the day, very much appreciated.
Wow the gardens were full steam ahead, people helping cars when they arrived and directing them where
to park. The ladies in the registration tent were busy taking registrations and selling raffle tickets.
We had displays by some of our club members, and a variety of stalls to wonder around.
The presentation went off perfectly with the Trophies presented to the winners of each category. Followed
by the drawing of the raffle, Norm picked a little girl from the audience to draw the tickets, thanks Sky great
job.
Thank you to EVERYONE who drove their cars, they all looked fantastic!!!
Cessnock Rescue Squad put on a display on how they rescue someone in an accident with the Jaws of
Life. They proceeded to cut open a car. Our club certificates were awarded to, Robyn & Brett Small,
Margaret Evans, George Browning & Barry Scarr.
The day got better with the rain clearing, someone was defiantly looking down on us.
Thank you to everyone that helped to make this event a great success!!!
SPRING CRUIZ-IN – 18TH OCTOBER 2015
Roving Reporter and Photographer: Brian Johnston
Although Club members could not participate in the main awards for the day, we still awarded special Cruiz-In
certificates for our own members so they did not miss out.
Recipients were George Browning for his great new ute (first time out), Barry Scarr for his 1927 Essex (the last time
with Barry as owner, it has now changed hands), Brent and Robyn Small for their nice Classic Camper (over 30
years old and in excellent condition) and Margaret Evans for her recently acquired Holden Kingswood (very nice car
and first time out with our Club).
