PAINTING OF ALL EXCUSES
CentralTrak Gallery. Dallas, Texas.
January 21st – March 2nd, 2013
CentralTrak, The University of Texas at Dallas Artists Residency, provides space for eight artists to live, work and exhibit, and serves as a community center for broad intellectual
discourse around the arts. While the Residency promotes artistic experimentation through its support of production, the companion Gallery encourages critical engagement with
the local urban context through its exhibitions and related programs. It is located at 800 Exposition Ave. Dallas, TX 75226. U.S.A. http://centraltrak.net

2013. Oil on canvas
230 x 190 cm
Text on the painting:
Once, I made a very ugly painting dedicated to the
memory of my late uncle Fermín Rubiales.
It was so ugly that no one wanted to spend even a
second looking at it. Then my art dealer decided that
he was going to show it at an important museum and
donate it to their collection (although we always say
they bought it).
Now everybody wants to commission a similar version
of FR. They seem to be moved by the idea of me,
dedicating a painting to my late uncle.
