High energy linear impacts represent big,
heavy hits that pass through the center of
gravity of the head. These impacts are more
common as players get older and graduate
to more advanced levels of play.
Low energy linear impacts account for 8090% of the total recorded hits during play.
Growing scientific evidence suggests that
cumulative low energy impacts create a risk
of injury, and therefore, cannot be ignored.
Rotational impacts cause the head to rotate
around the neck. Although all certified
hockey helmets are designed to address high
energy linear impacts, there is significant
evidence that points to rotational force as a
key contributor to head injuries.

Helmet Sizing and Certification
Open helmet to its largest setting and position on the head so that the front edge of the helmet is one finger width above the eyebrows.
Slide the front and back portions of the helmet together until a comfortable, snug fit is achieved. Tighten the adjustment mechanism.
Players should only use CSA, HECC and CE certified helmets. These helmets have stickers affixed that indicate their compliance with the
applicable standards.

Facemask Sizing Info
The facemask should fit snugly to the chin. If it is too long, it may not
remain in place during impact.
When the player’s mouth is closed, the chin should fit comfortably into
the chin-cup. Attach the facemask securely to a compatible, certified
helmet according to the instructions provided.
BAUER recommends the use of a mouth guard, especially when using
a half shield. Injuries to the face, nose, eyes, jaw and teeth may occur
while wearing a half shield.
